Wildlife

As we get deeper into spring time we get more and more wildlife near our house. Yesterday we got our second squirrel in the house. This one was easier to get back outside than the first one. I chased him/her downstairs and right out the open back door. The first one was a bigger chase and the main problem is keeping the dogs from getting it. Jack Russell Terriers have a great hunting gene and it kicks in when they get close to wildlife. Lets hope the word gets spread to the rest of the critters to stay out of the house.

Grass

Our grass is growing so fast we almost have to cut it twice a week right now. I am glad that our yard is small only when it comes to cutting the grass. The rest of the time I wish we had a huge lawn for the dogs and kids to play in. Right now we are over run with the yellow flowers of the dandelions in our front yard. I have been trying to keep them picked but they grow faster than I can get them picked. I wish we had a goat to help keep the weeds down sometimes but then I think of the mess you would have to clean up and I will stick with dogs, kids and a lawnmower.

Earthquake

Today a big earthquake hit a place that you almost never hear about earthquakes, Italy almost never get hit with earthquakes. The last report I saw had 91 people killed and over 1500 hurt, the most hurt in a quake in Italy in over 30 years. Lets hope the rest of the missing folks are found alive and unhurt and keep the good people of Italy in your thoughts and prayers today.

Price of gas

Here in Nashville the price of gasoline has started to creep up towards $2.00 a gallon. We have had a good run of gasoline prices below $2.00 a gallon and I am sure it will keep going on up, back where the big gasoline companies can make even more money off us poor working slobs. My small delivery company can make a profit if gasoline prices stay lower than $2.00 a gallon but I am not holding my breath for it to stay down that low. We need price breaks on food and gasoline to make this country work we can not keep paying these high prices with our wages dropping like they are.

March Comes Roaring In

The temperatures dropped, the wind picked up and the sleet turned to snow. Just when we thought Spring was on its way, we got a severe winter storm that swept through about half of the country. The snow came down all night and didn’t stop until noon. They say we will have more tonight. So I guess it is safe to say that “March has come in like a lion.”

Oh Humble Ground Hog

All eyes are on a famous rodent in Pennsylvania this morning to find out what Mother Nature has in store for us. When the ground hog emerges from his warm and cozy burrow, will he see his shadow and doom us all to more winter? Or will he grant us a reprieve from the cold and the gloom, and bring us an early Spring?

Winter blues

As this month creeps along it has become the month of gloom and doom. The weather is horrible and I am not sure if spring is ever going to make an appearance this year. Some years we get a very early spring and years like this year it seems to creep to us. I know that this year I am so ready for spring and I want to be at the lake with the sun beating down on me, I just am not sure how long I will have to wait for it to be warm enough to go to the lake, I hope it is sooner rather than later.

Nonsense

The news reports have about driven me crazy with the nonsense they put out there. The worst part is that they expect us to believe every piece of crap they report on. The real news you have to search for to even find out what is going on. After getting a drop of a good real story you never hear another word on them I guess they do not want us to be upset by the real news. Take for example the story of the Transit cop shooting an unarmed man in the back in Oakland California, here in Nashville we never heard word one of this important story, nothing on the internet either. The only way we found out was my spouse reads the Bay area papers on the internet and read it there or we would not of known anything about it at all. Give us the real news and keep the fluff pieces in your pocket.

Day of rest

With Christmas 2008 in the books I have plans to take today and do nothing that is not fun for me. I am not going to cook, I am not going to do laundry, and most of all I am not going out of the house at all. It is cold and windy outside and I am going to make me some hot tea and watch TV, that is the extent of my plans for this great day. Soon enough it will be back to the daily grind and having one day of doing nothing is not a bad thing at all. At least it is not to me and that is all that matters.

Christmas tree

This year I have put off getting a Christmas tree, I just plain have not been in the mood needed to get out the tree and all the decorations and setting the thing up. I guess as I get older i get more and more cranky and just plain mean. I mean if you do not like the fact that I do not have a Christmas tree set up go home and look at your own dam Christmas tree. My world is still in orbit and it will be the same the day after Christmas no matter if I put up a Christmas tree or not. I may set mine up on July 4th, kind of start a new tradition.
