There was no report of a tornado yesterday but the trees in my yard tell a different tale. The branches that came down are twisted and not snapped off like in a straight wind. Almost every house in our neighborhood has tree damage and some have whole trees down. We did not have electricity for almost 5 hours and that is a very long time for us to be without lights. To top it all off some of the stop lights are still out and that makes getting to work this morning a challenge for sure.
Afternoon thunder
It seems that every afternoon we get some thunder and lightning, yesterday it killed my electricity twice and it is starting again today. I know that we can use all the rain we can get but during the spring-summer season rain and storms bring bugs and humidity, two things I dearly hate with a passion. I guess I better get ready for the storm to hit and get my sandbags ready for the flash flood they are giving us a warning for.
Summer reruns
The one part about the summer that I do not like is the summer reruns on the TV shows I watch. I may of missed a few during the season but most of them I watched the first time around. I watch a few more movies and get a little more work done in the summer time. I have planted a small garden that has about been rained out. Lets hope this summer gets over fast and we get to the start of the new TV season soon.
Weekend plans
I hope the weather is nice like the weather dude said this morning. We have made plans to take David to Madison to a carnival this weekend and it would be a shame to postpone this fun trip because of weather. Over the years I did not mind sitting in the rain for a good concert, now i will not even go to a venue that is inside if it is going to rain when I get to the car after the show. I can see all the concerts on TV that I want and they all put out a DVD after the show so no need to go and get wet.
March
March came in like a lion and it looks like it is going to go out like another lion. The next five days are calling for rain and wind, some storms will be here too it looks like. I am so ready for some sunshine but it looks like we will not get much sunshine until April at the earliest. It has been a long cold and wet winter and I am so very ready for sunshine and nice weather it is not funny. Come on summer I am very ready for you this year.
Hate to admit……………..
One of the things that I hate to admit is that I am wrong about anything, you can call it being hard headed or as I like to say I am firm in my beliefs. Either way it looks like that dam ground hog was right, it has been 6 weeks to the day that the little sewer rat saw his shadow and we had 6 more weeks of winter. I in no way thought that he was right and I thought we would have an early spring I guess thats why he makes the big bucks, and every one watches him and not me. I hope winter is over now and we can get along with the good stuff that we do in the spring time.
March Comes Roaring In
The temperatures dropped, the wind picked up and the sleet turned to snow. Just when we thought Spring was on its way, we got a severe winter storm that swept through about half of the country. The snow came down all night and didn’t stop until noon. They say we will have more tonight. So I guess it is safe to say that “March has come in like a lion.”
Oh Humble Ground Hog
All eyes are on a famous rodent in Pennsylvania this morning to find out what Mother Nature has in store for us. When the ground hog emerges from his warm and cozy burrow, will he see his shadow and doom us all to more winter? Or will he grant us a reprieve from the cold and the gloom, and bring us an early Spring?
Comfort Food
The weather has turned chilly and wet. The kind of days where you dread going outside for any reason, yet you must go to work, you must run the errands, you must take the dogs out. So you bundle up and huddle under awnings and canopies, and you walk/run to get in the car.
Tonight I need comfort food. I think I’ll order some good home cooking from Cracker Barrel and pick it up on the way home. Something with gravy or cheese and lots of southern seasonings.
Dry summer
After a very welcome wet spring and early summer, we have hit a very dry spell the last of July and the first part of August.
We have had no rain at all since July 20th and are creeping up on the dreaded “D” word again. Drought is a bad term to use any way.
We had a very dry 2007 and the start of this year was very wet, so we are still ahead of the total that we average in a normal year. It is not too late to get some needed rain and get us back where we need to be, wet and wonderful.
