Spring cleaning again

Okay, I do spring cleaning about four times a year or more. I cannot stand clutter in my house. I rip through it from one end to the other and the kids and hubby hide so I don’t draft them into helping. I just did this in April, so I am not sure why it is already necessary again. Perhaps it is because the kids just got out of school and the massive amounts of stuff they brought home. Some of it from lockers others from desks, but the real stuff I hate, is the stuff the teachers give them. Most of it is decorations from around the classrooms. For some reason the teachers like to hand that stuff out to the kids, so I have to throw it away later. It is highly annoying.

Then I noticed that for some reason we have collected a ton of CD’s and DVD’s. I am going to sell some of my old CD’s, because I don’t even listen to them anymore. Who needs them anyway when there is IPod’s and Itunes. Better I can get rid of them while decluttering my house. I am going to go through all of the cabinets in the family room as well and clear out any junk that has accumulated. The kids are always stuffing all kinds of paper and whatnot in there and I know that they are full. I went looking for something and saw that mess yesterday. It was awful. I think I can sell DVD’s online, so I will go through those and get rid of all the ones the kids don’t watch any longer. They have outgrown some of the cartoons and toddlers ones, so there is no point in keeping them. This way another child can enjoy them, and I make a little bit of my money back for new ones. Makes sense to me. Anyway, I am going to get busy and you guys have a great day!

Country Music Festival

There is a country music festival every year in Nashville. It happened last week and lasted four days. Since my mom had the kids for a couple of weeks to give us a break and some alone time, the hubby and I decided to go spend the day at the festival. It was amazing ! We really didn’t spend a lot of money as we decided to take advantage of the free concerts that were readily available at several different stages. We saw at least three big name performers as well as a few lesser known ones that we will be keeping an eye out for in the future as there were really good.

Jerrod Neimann was the one we really wanted to see and were so happy to be able to. Dirks Bentley showed up for a surprise performance with another group and that was awesome. Then after they were gone, we went to wander around and ran across the cast from Duck Dynasty as they were going into a restaurant. That was totally cool, but I wasn’t able to get the camera out quickly enough to take pictures of them. Boo !

We found another stage in front of the Bridgestone arena and got there just in time to see Big Smo go on and perform. Hubb’s loved that as he is a really big fan of his. He had to call one of his brothers and tell him who he was watching on stage. It was too funny. All in all we had a great time and were so happy to have the day together to enjoy just the two of us. I did feel kind of bad though, because I know that the kids would have loved it too. Ah well, I think I will take them next year. We shall see!

Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow

This is an amazing song. I love these two and having them do a song together made me so happy. It’s not the only one that they have done together, but it is the first and best as far as I am concerned. Maybe I will post the other one later. I know everyone will love it.

Time for a little music

I love this new song by The Band Perry. It’s a little off to most people who can’t understand it, but I do. I have loved it since the moment I first heard it. I really like most of their music to be honest. Music can be like a lifeline when there are time of trouble. Those are the times, when you really understand the lyrics of a song. When things are going well in your life, you really just listen to feel good music and are happy with that. I have noticed this kind of trend not only with myself, but with my friends as well.

When friends are upset, I like to dedicate songs to them, so they uplift them. Conversely, they are at that time listening to music that fits whatever problem they are having in their life. Usually those songs happen to be about relationship problems. Most people tend to relate better to those at a time of difficulty within their relationships. There are certainly plenty of them to listen to. Personally, I try to listen to stuff that will make me feel better, but I have in the past been known to do it as well. It is normal to search for understanding no matter what you are going through.

Mine ~ Taylor Swift

I really like Taylor swift. She has nice wholesome music that isn’t full of sexual innuendo. My son really loves her as well. I hope that she comes to concert here sometime soon. I want to surprise him with tickets to the concert. I won’t even tell him where we are going either. I will just take him and he can be totally surprised when she walks out on stage, or at least until we get into the venue.

The Band Perry

This is such a pretty song, by The Band Perry. I really like their music a lot. They are a relatively new band, having only been around for about a year or so. At least that is how long it’s been since I first heard of them. I thought this song kind of goes along with all the wedding planning going on.

Too Funny

This is awesome ! I so would do this myself. It is definitely different and original for a wedding march. I hope everyone enjoys the video. I know that I did for sure. I might have to send this to my friend who is about to get married. She is gonna love it!

Tragic Accident Last Night

If you are a fan of the Charlie Daniels Band, you will be sad to learn of an accident last night that claimed the life of his keyboard player, Taz. The CDB was gathering at their tour bus to leave for a concert at a county fair in Georgia when Taz was killed in a car accident en route to where the bus was parked.

Taz was a co-writer of one the CDB most famous songs, “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.” R.I.P. Joel ‘Taz’ DiGregorio.

Fresh Air

Finally warmer weather has arrived in time to start sleeping with the windows open.  I wait all year long for the first goodnight’s sleep with the window open.  I always sleep better with the window open.

One of the reasons and in particular the most important reasons are due to the melodic music heard in the night.  Crickets are the most common noise heard but if you listen closely the sounds of the loons and bullfrogs along with the gentle breeze can be heard.  These sounds are delightful and are one thing that city folk cannot begin to understand unless they experience them first hand.

Another reason is for the fresh country air.  The air in the country is very different from the city.  Some may say that the air is different because of the melodic sounds described earlier.  Others simply say that it is due to pollution or lack of pollution.  Either way the best medicine for a goodnight’s sleep is the fresh country air with the band of bullfrogs playing in the background.

The Grammys

The Grammy Awards are fast approaching.  I am pretty excited about this.  Last years was incredibly interesting in my opinion.  Lady Gaga wore an outfit that looked like a large piece of meat.  This was interesting but I thought a bit overboard.  I know that fashion industry a lot to offer and I wonder why she picked such an outfit over everything else?

Besides the fashion statement there is usually some outstanding performances as well.  Rhianna and Eminem performed together and I thought they did a good job.  I thought their performance represented multiple relationship troubles some people face.  The song was very moving.  Both artists have become poster children of domestic violence and this song certainly portrayed this aspect.  Singing about this topic is very important because so many deal with it on a daily basis.  I think that it is possible to change a person’s life through music and this song is no different.
