Two for Tuesday

On the classic rock radio station that I listen to while working here at the home office, they play two songs by the same artist and call it two for Tuesday. I think that most radio stations around the world do this but I really love the songs they play on the classic rock station here in Nashville. Many years ago I worked at this radio station and I have loved their music since I moved here eleven years ago. You just can not beat The Rock for great music here in Music City. And no they do not play country. Not everybody here in Music City likes country music.

New music

Let me say right up front that I really hate most of the new music that is on the market right now. Give me the old stuff any day and I am a happy girl. I love when the great old groups go on a concert tour and one will be here in Nashville in September. Bruce Springsteen is an act that I have never seen before and I can not wait for his concert here it is close enough to my birthday that I have given myself tickets for my birthday and I can not wait to hear Bruce and the E Street band in concert.

Weekend plans

I hope the weather is nice like the weather dude said this morning. We have made plans to take David to Madison to a carnival this weekend and it would be a shame to postpone this fun trip because of weather. Over the years I did not mind sitting in the rain for a good concert, now i will not even go to a venue that is inside if it is going to rain when I get to the car after the show. I can see all the concerts on TV that I want and they all put out a DVD after the show so no need to go and get wet.

Good Bye Vern

Country legend Vern Gosdin passed away this week, his was a voice that if you heard it once you never forgot it again. He had a major stroke a couple of days ago and passes away  yesterday.  The world of country music will be one singer short now. I loved his music and had always wanted to see him sing in concert but by the time I had moved to Nashville he was not doing concetrs as much so i missed out on seeing one of the true legends of country music.

Abby is headed to Broadway

My wonderful sister has given me the most perfect birthday present, Broadway tickets to a show in June, I love my sister and I love the fact that she really knows exactly what I wanted for my birthday this year. She will be going with me to the show and I can not think of a better partner to attend this great show. She got our discount tickets at Broadways Best Shows. Broadways Best Shows has a lot of nice information on the Broadway shows and that made picking the show we will be going to much easier for me.

Broadways Best Shows had many to pick from everything from musicals to classic Broadway plays, I have chosen to go see Hair, this is a play that I have always wanted to see and now is my chance. Broadways Best Shows has a very nice newsletter you can sign up for to recieve emails on upcoming show and best of all you can recieve further discounts to the Broadway show you want to go to, and that is a huge plus in these hard economic times.

I can not wait for June to get here this will be a trip that we will remember for the rest of our lives, and I can not stand the waiting.

Price of gas

Here in Nashville the price of gasoline has started to creep up towards $2.00 a gallon. We have had a good run of gasoline prices below $2.00 a gallon and I am sure it will keep going on up, back where the big gasoline companies can make even more money off us poor working slobs. My small delivery company can make a profit if gasoline prices stay lower than $2.00 a gallon but I am not holding my breath for it to stay down that low. We need price breaks on food and gasoline to make this country work we can not keep paying these high prices with our wages dropping like they are.

This weekend

I am very excited about this weekend we have tickets to go to the Grand Old Opry and I can not wait to see the show. We go to the old Ryman as much as we can to see shows it is a much better venue than the arena or any where else to see music shows here since they closed down Star Wood a couple of years ago, that never made sense to me as it was the only good outdoor venue here and they just tore it down to build a sub division, what a waste of good music at least that is the way that I feel. We do not need new houses we need a good outdoor venue for music.

Awards shows

One of the best things about living in Nashville is the awards shows that we get to attend every year. Tomorrow is the CMA awards downtown and I have had my tickets since the first of the year. We will go down to see the stars come in on the red carpet and then head in to see the show. I am very excited to be seeing a couple of acts that I have not been able to see in person including the Eagles, every time they have played here in Nashville I have not been able to go to the show so seeing them sing one song and possibly win the group of the year is very exciting to me. I can not wait for tomorrow.

Big concert

The biggest concert of the year was tonight at the football stadium here in Nashville, Kenny Chesney and Keith Urban held their concert tonight, the weather held off and it was a wonderful night to attend a concert.

I do not go to concerts very often but this was one I did not want to miss, I was amazed at the crowd and parking was a mess like always downtown, this would of been a great time for the idiots at Metro to run a train to the concert, instead the train sits not making any money.
