Merry Christmas

This time of year is very special to me and my family. We have a lot of fun with the tree and decorations on the tree and the house. This year we plan on staying home to celebrate the holiday.

I will miss seeing my family and friends but with the way the economy is we just think it would be better to stay at home this year, we will still have a lot of fun and maybe next year we can do some traveling next year.

Free Shipping

Knowing that there is Free Shipping being offered can make or break my decision on whether or not to actually purchase something online. I have done must of my Christmas shopping on the computer this year and I have not paid a dime for shipping and/or handling.

I work hard for my money and I just can’t afford to throw my money around, especially since this year money has been tighter than usual. I am working as many part time jobs as possible. I seem to be always running somewhere to do something for somebody and it isn’t paying enough for what I need to have.

Black Friday

Today was the so called Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. It is called the biggest sale day of year, I have never went out shopping on Black Friday, I do not like huge crowds and hate the rudeness of the people on this kind of a day. I saw one report of a Wal-mart employee killed by a stampeding crowd in New York. I would hate to think how those people would act if it was an emergency or a natural disaster. Makes me want to stay in my house with my dogs with the door locked.

Leaf Peeping

It’s that time of year to view beautiful fall leaves.  I like to take a fall foliage trip every year.  I have not yet decided where I would like to go but it will be in New England.

I think New England has some of the best fall foliage.  My favorite colors are red, yellow and orange all displayed on the same tree.

Heat

This year I don’t have to guess what to purchase to give to my dad on Father’s Day. I have already found a great website with an awesome selection of Heat Guns, Soldering Irons and Hot Knives to pick from to order for him. Now I just have to decide on which one to actually purchase. Father’s Day is only a few short weeks away so I better hurry up and pick one. I’m sure he would love any of them.

Halloween Dance tomorrow

My son is going to his Halloween dance tomorrow. He even asked a girl to be his “date”. It is so cute, even though I did tell him he is too young for a girlfriend and dating. I will let this one slide because it is a special occasion. Never the less, I know that they will have a blast. They are even going to dress up as two characters from Pokemon. That should be really adorable.

New chainsaw

Well we decided to buy a new chainsaw. The old one we had finally just gave up on us and wasn’t worth fixing. The cost of fixing it was about what it cost for a new one that is under warranty. Since we started a side business doing tree work, having a good running chainsaw is important. We actually will need more than one, so later on we will probably buy another one, but for now this one will do.

I anticipate that we will have a lot of work coming up as the winter season gets closer. This is the time when people prune back their trees before they get inundated with ice and snow. We know what that is like as we had a problem a few years ago with a really ice storm that broke a lot of branches on our trees. We don’t want them falling on the house or cars, or worse people, so it is always best to trim them back. If you know of anyone who needs their trees done, let me know. We are going to use the money from this for Christmas so we won’t get behind on bills paying for presents.

Went off without a hitch

Of course it did, because I planned it all. Our Memorial Weekend festivities were amazing as always. Two days of fun in the sun and one day of down time to recuperate. The last day I HAD to have after all of the work I did putting it all together.

We spent Saturday at the local park that has a skate park and various other entertainments available for the kids and adults. There was live music playing, so I figured it would be a great place for us to all get together. Of course I had to get up a five am to be there by six am and make sure we got a good spot near the bandstand. I was able to even get a pavilion for us.

Sunday we all went out on the boats, and jet ski’s. We had a spot along the river where we BBQ’d and enjoyed ourselves immensely. A good time was had by all.

Monday I didn’t bother to get out of my pj’s and told everyone that they were on their own for breakfast and lunch. We had plenty of left over’s to use for dinner, so I was able to just heat up that stuff with a minimum of effort.

I told me sister that the next holiday weekend is HER’S to coordinate. I want to relax and have fun like everyone else without being a military Sargent the whole time. Good luck sis!

(it actually took me most of the week to recuperate) lol

Coordinating everyone is a pain

I am not sure how it always come to me to coordinate all of our family holiday weekend activities, but it does. When did the scepter pass from my mother to me? I am sure that I did not ask for this, let alone agree to take it. Somewhere along the way, I was tricked into it I am sure.

I thought perhaps it was because I have to coordinate with my in-laws, but that can’t be it. I know this because I end up having to coordinate with my siblings in-laws, as well as my hubby’s sibling’s in-laws. WTH? I am sure there is an evil little leprechaun somewhere laughing his butt off. -.-

What an amazing weekend

We had a Mother’s Day BBQ and the guys did all of the cooking and cleaning up. The kids pitched in and helped as well, but to see my father, hubby and father-in-law, all trying to please us women was so amazing. I have the greatest family ever. We women decided to make sure that their Father’s Day is just as awesome for them next month. Maybe we will send them on a fishing trip or something. We will have to decide later.
