Am I Old

The biggest question that I have been asked this week is do you feel old now that you have turned 50? The most correct response is YES. I do not really feel any different than I did on Saturday, but when you hit a  milestone in your life you are bound to be a little different, and I guess that makes me feel a little old.

I do not see a huge change in my life at this stage but I am open to all possibilities at this point. Now I have set my sights on the second half of my life and look out world, here comes Abby!

The Job Market

The job market here in the US is finally beginning to revive. The unemployment rate is slowly dropping, but still has a way to go yet. More and more people are looking at who is doing the most hiring. With this in mind, many are going back to school to further degrees, to make the most out of their education.

The medical field is hiring at the fastest rate, more then any other field. From medical billing, Nurses Aides, LPN’s to RN’s, there is a constant demand for more personnel. Over the next few years even more personnel are going to be needed as our population grows. Everyone gets sick from time to time, and managed heath care demands that people have regular check ups to keep people healthy. This helps keep costs down by helping to keep people out of hospitals.

Many of these degrees can be obtained through an online nursing degree program. This makes it easier to work and go to school, while taking care of your home life as well. If you are already an LPN or a paramedic, you can easily move up to the next degree in a relatively short amount of time.

There are many reasons to go back to school. The first and foremost reason is money. Everyone wants to make more money, to have a better lifestyle. Getting a college degree increases your money and it increases your chance at finding a job. Educated workers will have more job opportunities then those with only a high school education. In fact, they already do.

Prevention and Protection

Moms are the beginning and the end when it comes to keeping our homes running smoothly. Not only do we take care of balancing the checkbooks, paying the bills, cleaning the house, and raising the kids, we also have to see that our home and family are protected. Protection comes in many different forms, from safety to pest control.

When you buy a new home, you have the obligatory inspection done. They test for everything from water damage, roof leaks and termites. When the report comes back, you decide if you really want the house or not. Ours came back clean but in order to keep it that way, it needed regular maintenance. I saw to it that we are continually protected from infestation by Terminix pest control.  I don’t want my dream home damaged by little bugs.

There are a few things that you can do for some extra prevention:

  • Make sure the soil slopes away from the house
  • Keep plants at least three feet from the house
  • Use plastic sheeting under the house to cover the dirt.
  • Point sprinklers away from the house

You should never have any standing water around the base of the home, as termites need water for survival. Get rid of any dead or dying trees and don’t pile up firewood against the house. You shouldn’t have those anywhere near it in fact. Make sure the base of the house shows about six inches of the concrete foundation all the way around it. Don’t use a lot of mulch around the house, as it breeds termites.

Depending on your area and the regular weather you have there, you might want to make sure there are no large trees too close to the house either. They can be knocked over by storms and you don’t want them to fall on the house. I know that they shade the house and help keep electricity bills down, but in areas with high straight line winds, those trees can be dangerous to your home and your family. Keep the trees well trimmed as well. This way you won’t have to worry about dead branches falling from them.

When you buy a home with a pool and you have small children, you should invest in a safety pool fence. Some of them are removable for those pool parties and such, but they are definitely worth the expense to keep your children safe. In addition to the safety fence, you can put latches or locks at the top of the doors to your home to keep the children from wandering outside. Kids have a tendency to do that the moment you turn your back or use the restroom.

Make sure you have the safety plugs for all of your outlets as well. We all know that children love to stick things into small holes and spaces. We buy them lots of toys teach them to do just that and need to make sure they can’t do it in the wrong space. This goes along with cabinet locks to keep children out of chemicals and such as well. You would be surprised to learn how many children are able to get that Pine-sol bottle open and drink it.

Protecting your home and your family is not very difficult or even expensive if you take simple precautions. Most of it is common sense and easily done on your own without the help of professionals. If you do need a professional to help you, just do your research and you will be fine. I hope this helps you ladies. I know that a lot of it helped me when we first bought our home.

Have You Ever Noticed

Have you ever noticed that when guys take a nap ( no matter what age) in the afternoon, they wake up in a cranky mood and proceed to let everyone know about it.

This is quite possibly one of my biggest pet peeves with guys. I mean REALLY ? You supposed to take a nap to feel refreshed and better when you wake up, not to feel like you hate the world. Seriously irritated right now…grrr

Smoking

I have smoked for linger then I can remember, but i have decided to quit smoking and get into shape. I am over weight and have type two diabetes. The diabetes, my doctor says will more than likely go away if I lose weight. My weight fluctuates within a twenty pound range. I have actually been doing well on losing the weight part, but will be more suscessful if I start working out. I can’t work out unless I quit smoking. This I know. So wish me luck on quitting smoking and with my workout.

The hcg is working great

I really am over the top with this new hcg diet. I have lost a good amount of weight already and for see much more to come. I never thought that it would be this easy to do. I have struggled with weight loss for so long it is unbelievable. Having kids can play havoc with a woman’s body and losing weight after pregnancy can be very difficult with each successive birth. I have been very fortunate in finding these drops to help me with that. I have never felt this good about myself before, not even as a teen. I hope that everyone else who tries it has the same results I do.

hcg

Hcg is the new way to lose weight. The drops help kick your metabolism into gear and use up stored fat. Finally a natural way to use the hormones already produced by your body to make it do what it is supposed to do. Losing weight can make you feel better in more ways then one. Of course you will feel better about yourself, but you will have more energy and feel good all over in the process. Being overweight can cause all kinds of problems with your body, from polysystic ovarian syndrome to diabetes. Losing weight can help make these problems better or get rid of them altogether. Take good care of yourself and get back into shape.

hcg is working

I am losing weight and I love it! These hcg drops have really helped a lot and I am not one to put a lot of medicines into my body. I am very picky about that. I have been trying with no success for years to lose body fat. I have tried dozens of diets, but I can’t really exercise because I have hip problems. This has made losing weight very difficult for me. After many discussions with my doctor, I decided to give this a try. With any luck, and as long as it keeps working, I will be comfortable in a bathing suit next summer. That is my goal.

Sick

Gosh I can’t seem to kick this chest congestion, and to top it off, my medicine is missing still. I went to the store to do some grocery shopping and they didn’t have any of the medicine that I take. I looked at two different stores and neither one had it. I am really irritated that I can’t find it. I am very picky about what medicine I take, because I don’t like medicines that make me groggy. Unless I am getting into bed at night to go to sleep, I won’t take something like that.

I hope the kids don’t get this cold that I have. Especially, since it seems to linger so long. My little guy doesn’t do well with chest congestion. He coughs until he throws up, and that is usually at night while he is sleeping. Then I have to change him and his sheets and blankets which really irritates him. He loves his blankets and doesn’t want to use any others ever. I may have to make an appointment with my doctors office if I can’t get rid of this soon. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone, not even an enemy. I think I will go lay down and have a nap before the kids get home.

Flu

Blech! I think I am coming down with the flu. I have been having trouble breathing from chest congestion, my sinuses are full and now I have a low grade fever. To top all of this off, I cannot find my medicine. I had it the other day and now it has completely vanished. I think there may be gremlins in the house hiding stuff, because I have no clue what so ever where it could have gone. It was on my desk and poof, now it’s gone. Wah! I want to take my medicine so I feel better. I know, I am whining, but really I don’t feel good.

I wish I could just go back to bed, but the kids are running around the house and that is just not possible. I tried laying down on the couch and just napping, but every time I doze off they start arguing. It became a pointless en devour, so just gave up.
