Walmart

I have a love hate relationship with Walmart. I love to hate it, but I always end up having to go there. The only reason I hate it, is because I can go there for one thing…ONE THING and still walk out having spent a hundred dollars. I end up seeing stuff on sale that the kids need or for the house and that is it. Next thing you know the cart has a bunch of stuff in it and it’s not even FULL, but still costs a hundred bucks. Grrrrr….

Happy Valentines day to all

I just wanted to send out a Happy Valentines Day to everyone! Today is a great day to spend with your loved ones and let each other know how much you appreciate them. I have already gotten a few little presents for the kids and will make them a special dinner. Hope your day is as great as mine is.

Dinner time

I am feeling lazy tonight. I am just going to bake the chicken in the oven and make some easy sides. I love to cook, but sometimes I just don’t feel like it. I know that I am not the only one, but when you have children, you have no choice. I make sure that I have easy stuff on hand for those nights. They are still nutritious, but low maintenance and take little effort. Baked chicken, mac n cheese and some corn is the name of the game tonight. Easy peasy!

Sometimes, easy is the best way to go. The kids never complain about what I cook. I don’t want to too my own horn, but I do cook quite well. I know that this is actually one of their favorite dinners. All kids love mac n cheese after all.

Wonderful Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas with the family. We had a big brunch after the kids opened their gifts. They weren’t very happy about having to wait for the family arrived, but we had already agreed so they only pouted a little bit. I just laughed at them, because as I mentioned before they had agreed. Fortunately the family wasn’t late for a change and the second the last one arrived the kids dug into the presents like starving animals to food. It was hilarious.

The kids were happy though, they got pretty much everything they asked for and then some, so I am content. I wasn’t sure I would be able to pull it off, but I just barely managed to handle everything. I was shopping for that last present on Christmas eve, and wasn’t sure I would find it. I ended up paying more then I anticipated, but it was so worth it. Hope everyone had a great day too.

Keeping My Son From Losing His Things

I really love my child, but my son keeps losing his things. Somehow he managed to misplace his jacket at school, and this was not the first time that he did something like this either. He also managed to lose his shoes. How does a person lose their shoes? The answer to that question still escapes me to this day, and it really does not matter because it happened. What I need to do now is focus on trying to prevent him from losing his things. This is starting to get rather expensive!

I sat down and had a long drawn out talk with my son, but we all know how that goes. I am not even sure if he was listening to me. For some reason, kids seem to have this natural ability to tune their parents out. I don’t remember doing this to my parents, but I think I must have. It must be some kind of built in defense mechanism. Then it dawned on me. I needed to start using name labels for kids. This may not prevent my son from losing his things, but it certainly would make it a lot easier to find the items that he keeps losing.

With a label, I would not need to depend on my son to not lose his things. I could handle every single bit of it myself, and all I needed was something as simple as a label. So now it was up to me to find a label that I could use to label everything that my son owned. I had a plan.

Luckily I did not have to look very far. I found stuck on you and labelcity.com. They had a wide assortment of great labels that I could choose from. Now it was only a matter of getting a bunch of labels and adding the everything that my son owned.

One thing left

I only have one thing left to buy for Christmas. I am very thankful for that, because I am tired of having to shop, shop, shop and wrap, wrap, wrap. I know that sounds horrible, but if you had to do as much I have done, you would feel the same way too. Sometimes I can get one of the older kids to help me but it is not always a good idea for them to know what everyone else is getting for Christmas. They have a tendency to blurt stuff out that you don’t want known. It’s a typical kid thing and there is nothing you can do for it, but not allow them to know what you don’t want known. Hehehe.

Running late today

Blah, I am running so late today. I haven’t gotten anything done that I wanted to before the kids got home and now it looks like I wont. I think I will just give up on it altogether and shoot for tomorrow. Since I don’t have to be up early every day, I can sleep in and hopefully get a good nights sleep. That will make all of the errands and stuff much easier to get done.

Now, I think I will go relax and watch a movie with the kids. I think they are watching a super hero movie. Something called Kick ass. I have never seen it, but it is definitely a kids type movie. Most of the super hero’s are all kids. I will let you know if I like it or not.

Craziness

Do you ever wonder why people act so crazy during the holidays? I used to until I had children and became a single mom. It can be too much stress and pressure to keep up with the Jones’s as they say. Kids talk to each other in school and adults talk to their friends, and everyone wants to have what everyone else has or better. There is an expectation for the holidays that is almost impossible to achieve in today’s economy. Everything is so expensive that is get harder and harder each year to keep up. I do the best that I can and my kids thankfully understand that. I am grateful to have such understanding kids who do not expect the world handed to them on a silver platter. They are truly grateful for the life that they have.

Cleaning time

Time for me to crank up the music and clean the house. I can get so much more done when the kids are not at home. I just play my favorite music and clean, clean, clean. I will be tired by the end of the day, because the house got trashed over the weekend, and yesterday I was out all day running errands so couldn’t do it. Okay, then. Off I go.

Tutoring Online Can help Kids

I have found an awesome site for tutoring online that can help kids struggling with their schoolwork. A tutor is sometimes necessary for kids in school. There are many different ways to take advantage of the website and the resources they have. You can join and post questions on the Q & A board or you can get one on one tutoring if you so need. You can also help others by answering questions in the Q & A board, if you know the answers. It is all very interactive with real, live people.

I think this is a great tool for kids to use, no matter what grade they are in. I am definitely going to be making use of this with my kids, when they run into problems that I cannot handle myself. Most of the time, I help them, but sometimes it is hard to help all three kids at the same time. I know with this, I can at least set my oldest child up with someone knowledgeable to help him.
