Heat

This year I don’t have to guess what to purchase to give to my dad on Father’s Day. I have already found a great website with an awesome selection of Heat Guns, Soldering Irons and Hot Knives to pick from to order for him. Now I just have to decide on which one to actually purchase. Father’s Day is only a few short weeks away so I better hurry up and pick one. I’m sure he would love any of them.

Animal Voiceovers

I couldn’t stop laughing at this. I have always loved watching nature videos but when you add a human context to them it makes it ten times more enjoyable! I guarantee that anyone watching this will laugh at some point. If they don’t then they must not have any sense of humor. The large white birds laughing are my absolute favorite!

Durham Air Conditioning

The days that I could call my kid brother for my heating and/or air conditioning issues are unfortunately long gone. He discovered that he has a real talent with computers and he hasn’t had anything to do with anything else since.

So on the down side I have to locate and hire my own Durham air conditioning service when I need help. On the other hand I can always count on him to help me with my computers!

New neice

My sisters youngest daughter has had a beautiful baby girl and to get the perfect gift for this newest member of our family I have decided to go all out and get her some unique baby blankets for the baby. A new baby brings out the very best in most people and I am one of those who love the new babies. In this family it is my job to get the newest babies wonderful gifts and baby stuff they can keep their whole lives.

The baby blankets I have selected are such a wonderful gift and I will be very happy to send all of my family members who want to find the unique baby blankets that I have found. I will send them to Vision Bedding, they have a great web site with some very nice baby gifts including the unique baby blankets I have found for Keshia.

Vision Bedding has a great web site with a very nice selection of very nice baby items including the wonderful baby blankets I selected. The price was the top thing on the list of things that amazed me about this web site, they matched or even beat the local baby shops and that is amazing in my mind.

Foreign Cars

SAAB is one of the best foreign cars ever made. Comparable with Volkswagen on safety, they are the Cadillac of Europe. Affordable, luxurious and great on gas mileage, the SAAB is an amazing family vehicle as well.

All vehicles, no matter what make or model, require some type of regular maintenance or repair from time to time. For your OEM Saab Parts, you will want to use a reputable dealer like eEuroparts. They have everything that you will possible need to do maintenance on your Saab. Most maintenance in relatively easy to do, as well as minor repair. A simple tool kit and a little time is all you need to do it.

Here are a few tips for tuning up your Saab. First, you will need buy, spark plugs, wires, oil, oil filter, drain pan, air filter, and a fuel filter. This is just for a basic tune up without all the fuss or extra equipment. A deep socket is needed to pull the spark plugs, so you might want to pick one up. It is always best to do your tune up in the morning before you have driven it anywhere. You don’t want to do a tune up on a hot motor.

If you plug wires are fine and don’t need replacing, make sure to grasp the end of the wire as close down around the plug as possible, so you do not damage the wire. Replace each plug individually and replace the wire or put it back on so that you do not mix up the wires. Once this is done you can jack your car up and loosen the plug bolt on the bottom of the oil pan and allow it to drain out into a plastic oil drain pan. While this drains, remove the oil filter. Most of them will come off with a good twist, but occasionally you might need and oil filter wrench. Replace the old oil filter with the new one and you are good to go. Tighten up the plug bolt on the oil pan, before you put the new oil into the motor.

There are clips on the side of the air filter box that are relatively easy to remove. If they are stubborn, a flat head screw driver can help. Replace your air filter and then find and replace your fuel filter. Again this can be done with a simple screw driver. Check the fluid level in your radiator and make sure you aren’t in need of more antifreeze. If you have no leaks, you shouldn’t need any.

You can change the distributor cap and rotor as well if you choose, but they do not need regular replacement like plugs and oil. If you do decide to, make sure that you take the wires off of the old one and put them on the new one one at a time, so you have them in the right placement. The same with the rotor, but it only goes on one way so it shouldn’t be a problem. You have just done your first tuneup on your Saab and can now be proud of your accomplishment.

Remodeling Is Costly

Just because someone owns their own home, doesn’t mean they have credit cards. Many people get rid of their credit cards after they pay down their debt, only to find out that they might need them again to do renovations or remodeling on their home. Now they have to go back and apply for a card that will suit their needs. If they weren’t happy with the cards they had before, researching the new cards that are available now is the smart thing to do.

Once you make the decision to apply for a credit card, you need to know your credit score. Free credit score.com can help you with that in just a short amount of time. The best credit cards to apply for, are the ones that are compatible with your lifestyle. For instance, if you don’t travel a lot, you wont need a frequent flyer miles card.

Rewards cards are really great for people who make large purchases. If you are remodeling or renovating your home, you will be making large purchases and the rewards would be worth you having one of these cards, especially if you are going to be doing a DIY renovation/remodel. Since DIY typically takes longer then having a professional come in, your purchases will not be all at once.

However, if you have decided that you don’t have to time for a DIY job, and are going to hire someone to do it, then you might want a low interest rate or balance transfer card. Don’t get stuck with too many cards. If you have a lot of credit cards, you can end up in a lot of debt if you are not careful. Using a balance transfer card can help you consolidate all of your debt to one low rate card, but you have to read the fine print.

Of course there are other ways to pay for your renovation. You can use the home’s equity to pay for the upkeep, take a personal loan or just use cash. This however, can create a lot of paperwork in the case of the first two and who honestly has that much cash on hand to use. You can use online tools to keep track of your budget or an online debt reduction calculator to test out your finances first and see if what you have planned is feasible. Make sure to research fully before committing yourself to whatever card you apply for.

Take your time with finding a credit card and if the rewards are worth it. That renovation may wait a little longer if you need it to. Also, don’t over extend yourself. Be sure that you can afford to do that remodel before you begin it. The last thing you want is to get halfway through it and run out of cash and credit to do it. Then you will be stuck in home that is only half finished. You don’t have to have the most expensive items to have your home look good. Moderation is always a good thing when working with a budget.

The Job Market

The job market here in the US is finally beginning to revive. The unemployment rate is slowly dropping, but still has a way to go yet. More and more people are looking at who is doing the most hiring. With this in mind, many are going back to school to further degrees, to make the most out of their education.

The medical field is hiring at the fastest rate, more then any other field. From medical billing, Nurses Aides, LPN’s to RN’s, there is a constant demand for more personnel. Over the next few years even more personnel are going to be needed as our population grows. Everyone gets sick from time to time, and managed heath care demands that people have regular check ups to keep people healthy. This helps keep costs down by helping to keep people out of hospitals.

Many of these degrees can be obtained through an online nursing degree program. This makes it easier to work and go to school, while taking care of your home life as well. If you are already an LPN or a paramedic, you can easily move up to the next degree in a relatively short amount of time.

There are many reasons to go back to school. The first and foremost reason is money. Everyone wants to make more money, to have a better lifestyle. Getting a college degree increases your money and it increases your chance at finding a job. Educated workers will have more job opportunities then those with only a high school education. In fact, they already do.

Prevention and Protection

Moms are the beginning and the end when it comes to keeping our homes running smoothly. Not only do we take care of balancing the checkbooks, paying the bills, cleaning the house, and raising the kids, we also have to see that our home and family are protected. Protection comes in many different forms, from safety to pest control.

When you buy a new home, you have the obligatory inspection done. They test for everything from water damage, roof leaks and termites. When the report comes back, you decide if you really want the house or not. Ours came back clean but in order to keep it that way, it needed regular maintenance. I saw to it that we are continually protected from infestation by Terminix pest control.  I don’t want my dream home damaged by little bugs.

There are a few things that you can do for some extra prevention:

  • Make sure the soil slopes away from the house
  • Keep plants at least three feet from the house
  • Use plastic sheeting under the house to cover the dirt.
  • Point sprinklers away from the house

You should never have any standing water around the base of the home, as termites need water for survival. Get rid of any dead or dying trees and don’t pile up firewood against the house. You shouldn’t have those anywhere near it in fact. Make sure the base of the house shows about six inches of the concrete foundation all the way around it. Don’t use a lot of mulch around the house, as it breeds termites.

Depending on your area and the regular weather you have there, you might want to make sure there are no large trees too close to the house either. They can be knocked over by storms and you don’t want them to fall on the house. I know that they shade the house and help keep electricity bills down, but in areas with high straight line winds, those trees can be dangerous to your home and your family. Keep the trees well trimmed as well. This way you won’t have to worry about dead branches falling from them.

When you buy a home with a pool and you have small children, you should invest in a safety pool fence. Some of them are removable for those pool parties and such, but they are definitely worth the expense to keep your children safe. In addition to the safety fence, you can put latches or locks at the top of the doors to your home to keep the children from wandering outside. Kids have a tendency to do that the moment you turn your back or use the restroom.

Make sure you have the safety plugs for all of your outlets as well. We all know that children love to stick things into small holes and spaces. We buy them lots of toys teach them to do just that and need to make sure they can’t do it in the wrong space. This goes along with cabinet locks to keep children out of chemicals and such as well. You would be surprised to learn how many children are able to get that Pine-sol bottle open and drink it.

Protecting your home and your family is not very difficult or even expensive if you take simple precautions. Most of it is common sense and easily done on your own without the help of professionals. If you do need a professional to help you, just do your research and you will be fine. I hope this helps you ladies. I know that a lot of it helped me when we first bought our home.

So messed up

Apparently there was a problem with the processing on my payment for my cable/internet bill. I am smart enough though to write down the conformation number when I make a payment online. I woke up this morning to no cable or internet and was not happy about it, but once I called with the number, they were able to fix it. They said they were having problems with their payment system and for some reason it is not picking up all of the payments. They apologized and gave me a free On Demand movie rental for my trouble. The kids are going to love that, because I always rent the movies they want first. Yaay for us!

Internet Service

I have had my AOL account for 14 years now. We started using AOL back in the day when it was dial-up internet. You actually had to pay every month for AOL at the time. Needless to say, I was thrilled when it became free. I don’t really miss dial up, it took too long to connect and I couldn’t use my home phone at the same time. Can you remember the funny noise it made as it was connecting? Our next internet service was cable. It was somewhat faster than dial up. You had to connect a cable into the back of your computer. I had a desk top computer at that time so it wasn’t much of a nuisance dealing with the cable.

We have wireless internet now and I use a laptop. I love that I can use my computer anywhere I want in the house and also outside at my patio table. I’ve taken it with me on business trips and vacations. I have to trust at those times that wireless internet will be available. I am at the mercy of the hotel I am staying at as to whether wireless will be available.

I haven’t quite become the person that carries a laptop everywhere, to malls and coffee shops. I see people sitting in the food court at my local mall or the coffee shop on their laptop. Most are surfing the internet or playing games. I assume those people enjoy being in an atmosphere where people are around even though they are alone. That has been my perception, anyway.
