Gift Cards For Special Effects

Last year was such a great holiday season for the family. I can only pray that this year works out just as well. The Martin guitar that I got for my kid sister was such a big hit with her. I am not sure what I could possibly get her this year that will thrill and delight her just as much. But I know that her expectations are high and I don’t want to disappoint her. She deserves the best of everything.

I have been thinking that she might like a gift card so that she can buy some type of accessory for her guitar. Maybe a new travel case, or a Capon, or possibly some type of a new special effects item . Part of me thinks that  boss me50 Gift cards are a great option. But honestly, a gift card does not give you the thrill of opening a present and holding something fabulous in your hands right then and there.

If it was up to me, I would give everyone a gift card and be done with it all with one full swoop. But for my kid sister, I’ll make an extra effort.

Post Holiday Blahs

Sorry, I haven’t been posting much since the Holidays. They went by so quickly but took so much time to prepare for. It doesn’t seem right that Christmas should be one day, or one morning actually. Seems we should have more time to relax, enjoy, and spend time with our families. It feels that the true meaning of Christmas has been lost in the hustle and bustle, of the finding the perfect gift, and preparing the perfect meal.

Christmas has changed so much in my lifetime. As a little girl, we’d go downtown and look at all the big department store windows. They would have mechanical displays that were simply adorable. Wish my kids could see what I saw.

Anyway, I am back and will be blogging more. Happy New Year Everyone!

The Meaning of the Season

Just a little more than a week until Christmas and the holiday season hustle and bustle in surely in full swing. It came to me today how much Christmas has changed in my lifetime and how commercial it’s all become.

It seems most families spend way too much money for items their friends and loved ones probably don’t really need. Weeks and months of shopping and preparation turns into a few minutes of present opening frenzy. My immediate family takes a laid back approach to the holidays and mostly just enjoy a nice meal and the time together. I’m also sentimental enough to believe that Christmas should be an attitude we have in our hearts all year.

Luna Guitars A Plenty

To be perfectly honest, I had absolutely no idea what any of the Luna Guitars were, much less – where to find a good one at a decent price. I am glad I discovered the WWBW’s website, which gave me many options and ideas to toss around before making a final decision. I mean really it’s already December for heaven’s sake. Christmas seems so far in the distant that I just can’t seem to get into the mood of thinking of anything that goes along with the holiday season, but I am a procrastinator.

I think if my two sisters pitch in as well we can purchase an affordable Luna Guitar much like the one below for Jason for his birthday, which unfortunately falls on Christmas Eve. Poor kid gets robbed of his birthday every year no matter how hard anyone tries. He is a good kid and we want to make sure he gets a good gift this year. Being 13 is hard enough.

Emery Boards

As a child I was given a manicure set as a Christmas gift. I didn’t know how to use any of the tools in that set except for the nail clippers and the nail file. I used a nail file for many years. Then I discovered emery boards. What a great discovery! I love the emery boards and keep one in my purse at all times.

Interesting how they are being used for advertising, what a concept!

Time To Remove The Tree

Today, I finally took down my Christmas tree. I figured three weeks after Christmas was just about the right time.  It always seems to me that the holiday decorations go up more quickly then taking them down.  And every year  the task of taking down these decorations appears more daunting of a task.

Perhaps next year I will put up less decorations to make it easier come the month of January.  However, with this being said I probably will not take my own advice and will have my place looking like Santa’s Village once again next December.

Merry Christmas

This time of year is very special to me and my family. We have a lot of fun with the tree and decorations on the tree and the house. This year we plan on staying home to celebrate the holiday.

I will miss seeing my family and friends but with the way the economy is we just think it would be better to stay at home this year, we will still have a lot of fun and maybe next year we can do some traveling next year.

Black Friday

Today was the so called Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. It is called the biggest sale day of year, I have never went out shopping on Black Friday, I do not like huge crowds and hate the rudeness of the people on this kind of a day. I saw one report of a Wal-mart employee killed by a stampeding crowd in New York. I would hate to think how those people would act if it was an emergency or a natural disaster. Makes me want to stay in my house with my dogs with the door locked.

Wonderful Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas with the family. We had a big brunch after the kids opened their gifts. They weren’t very happy about having to wait for the family arrived, but we had already agreed so they only pouted a little bit. I just laughed at them, because as I mentioned before they had agreed. Fortunately the family wasn’t late for a change and the second the last one arrived the kids dug into the presents like starving animals to food. It was hilarious.

The kids were happy though, they got pretty much everything they asked for and then some, so I am content. I wasn’t sure I would be able to pull it off, but I just barely managed to handle everything. I was shopping for that last present on Christmas eve, and wasn’t sure I would find it. I ended up paying more then I anticipated, but it was so worth it. Hope everyone had a great day too.

Almost done

Phew! I am almost done with the Christmas shopping. I went this morning and bought a few of the things my son mentioned the last time we were at Wally world. The older he gets the harder it is to shop for him. That is why I usually make a trip to the store with the kids and watch them as the browse and constantly ask me for one thing or another. Works great every time. I already had the the little guy taken care of with all but one thing I picked up today. The older ones are just a little bit more difficult as they transition out of childhood and into young adult or preteen. I think I have this all covered though. Now I just have to wait for my next check and get the last thing for my older son, some stuff for the girl and my man. Then viola’! I will be done. Unfortunately my last check doesn’t come in until Christmas eve. Grrrrr
