City water

I hate city water, but never more than now. Seriously, they have made some definite changes to our water and I am so not happy about it. There is so much chlorine in the water that it is messing up my hair. This makes me go through so much more conditioner because I am trying to equalize it and it is not working at all. Even my hairdresser noticed the difference and asked if I had changed shampoo’s or somthing. Definitely not good. I decided to call our local water company and find out what the deal was. Why did they change our water? The answer was basically that they were forced to up the chemicals due to the heavy rains and since our winter weather is mostly rainy, it was here to stay. Great! Just what I needed to hear.

I cannot handle the water as it is right now, so I guess I am going to have to think about putting in a water filtration system. I thought about ones just for the bathrooms, but apparently of the four available, that is not one of them.

  • A pitcher filter only gives you clean drinking water. That is good but certainly won’t help my hair any.
  • A sink or faucet filter only services that particular area
  • An under the sink filter is about the same with only doing that sink
  • A whole house filter will service the bathrooms and showers, but of course is much more costly.

Since my main concern is for my showers and bathtubs, I suppose that I will have to bite the bullet and spend the money for the system. No one in the house is happy about the changes made by the water company as the children have complained that their eyes hurt after taking a shower. You know when that happens, there is way to many chemicals in the water. I had this problem once before when we lived in our old house. We didn’t own it so weren’t about to spend the money for a filtration system for it. Now that I own my house though, I can justify the expense and it will add value to my home as well.

Environment Masters in Jackson MS have come highly recommended after much research, so I have decided to go with them. I have a few friends and family members who have used them and still do for repairs etc… At least I know that my home will be taken care of correctly. I should have done this a long time ago.

Hair styles

There are so many different hair styles to choose from and hair accessories as well. From barrettes, ribbons, and combs to beads and feathers, you can use so many things to give yourself a new look. I found feathers online that are amazing and come in tons of different colors. They even have temporary color chalk to give yourself streaks of color to add to it. I found it online the other day when I was searching for accessories to wear to a wedding that is coming up.

I decided I want to do something a little different this time as the wedding theme is a bit different. It is a camouflage theme and all the guests are encouraged to wear colors that go with the theme of camo itself. I think I am going to get some green and orange feathers and maybe some chalk and play around with it to see how I like it. I have a green colored dress that will be perfect for it all to go with. I also have some camouflage pants but those are orange and blue and white. I may decide to wear those as the wedding is the typical “redneck” wedding and out of doors. It may work out better that way.

Such wonderful news

I just got such wonderful news this morning and wanted to share it with you. My best friend in the whole world has just told me that she is going to be a mother. That’s right people. There is a new baby on the way for me to spoil rotten the same way she has spoiled mine. I am over the top. She has also asked that I be the baby’s godmother. I am honored to say the least, but to be honest I kind of knew that would be the case since she is godmother to my eldest child.

Now for the really fun part. We get to shop till we drop for baby gear and that is sooo much fun. I have already told her about all the sites I know for awesome stuff and she is going to come over later so we can oogle everything. As soon as she knows whether it is a boy or a girl, we will be able to figure out what she will decorate with and go from there. I can’t wait !

Moms birthday

Moms birthday is coming up soon and I know just what to get her. I am going to get her a mother’s ring. She has expressed a wish to have one for a long time and I always thought dad would get it for her, since he said he was going to. Apparently he has forgotten about it, so I will do it for her birthday. Typically you give one for Mother’s Day, but you can do it anytime.

New chainsaw

Well we decided to buy a new chainsaw. The old one we had finally just gave up on us and wasn’t worth fixing. The cost of fixing it was about what it cost for a new one that is under warranty. Since we started a side business doing tree work, having a good running chainsaw is important. We actually will need more than one, so later on we will probably buy another one, but for now this one will do.

I anticipate that we will have a lot of work coming up as the winter season gets closer. This is the time when people prune back their trees before they get inundated with ice and snow. We know what that is like as we had a problem a few years ago with a really ice storm that broke a lot of branches on our trees. We don’t want them falling on the house or cars, or worse people, so it is always best to trim them back. If you know of anyone who needs their trees done, let me know. We are going to use the money from this for Christmas so we won’t get behind on bills paying for presents.

Walmart

I have a love hate relationship with Walmart. I love to hate it, but I always end up having to go there. The only reason I hate it, is because I can go there for one thing…ONE THING and still walk out having spent a hundred dollars. I end up seeing stuff on sale that the kids need or for the house and that is it. Next thing you know the cart has a bunch of stuff in it and it’s not even FULL, but still costs a hundred bucks. Grrrrr….

Cigars for dad

I found some new cigars for dad. Although he generally has his favorites, every now and then, I pick out a new one for him to try. Since I order them online, I make sure they are of good quality. He has never complained about them yet, so I got these new 858 sungrown ones for him. I really hope that he likes them.

You can have everyone in the family choose what they would like to eat and then bring it to the barbeque. If you are camping or are renting a cabin in the country, you could even start a bonfire and roast marshmallows with your entire family.

As you can see, these are two of the many ways you can relax with your family while you’re on vacation. You don’t have to bring electronics or work with you when you go on vacation and just spend some quality time with your kids and partner.

Oh no

My Aunt just called and told me that she has a busted water pipe. We need to find her a plumber calgary area or there about. She is elderly and doesn’t have anyone nearby any more. Most all of her kids moved back to the States and she refuses to sell her old house and come down here as well. I really wish that she would though, because she is just too old to be living that far away from all of the family.

Don’t get me wrong. She is not completely alone. The street she lives on is full of people who adore her. They stop by to check on her and see if she needs anything, but when she does, she wont ask. I will call the neighbor that is across the street from her and have him go take a look see. At the very least he can turn off the water until the plumber gets there to fix it. I am also going to call my mom and the other aunts for them to start campaigning for her to move back here again. Every so often they all start up and she almost agrees. Maybe this will be the lucky one and she will say yes.
