Yemen

I just heard on the news some interesting information regarding the Republic of Yemen.  Yemen, found in the Middle East is a country with several ties to the act of terrorism.  These ties expand far beyond the Asian continent.  The United States is very much a target for the terrorist infiltrating this country.

The last two attacks against the United States have originated in Yemen.  They are by far the most threatening force against the United States and the West.  This country has been able to lure individuals to their country to train in order to attack other territories.  This country has hundreds of square miles of deserts and multiple sea ports that allow for easy access for travel and concealment.  The government has very little power outside of it’s capital.  This makes training and concealment in the mountains/ deserts an excellent option.

Americans are not welcome in Yemen or in the region for that matter.  Some of their leaders have stated that if we kill them than they will kill us and I have no doubt that this is true.  I would even say that this is a promise from them.

New leadership

My state recently obtained a new governor, much like many other states.  This new governor has not even been in his position one month and we experienced a major blizzard.  This caused for a lot of complaints after the storm had passed.

During the storm, multiple businesses and agencies shut down early in an attempt to allow their employees a safe travel home.  While many of these retail stores and other places of business closed early, the state did not.

The governor received a great deal of flack for this.  The previous administration would have ordered a release.  The running joke now is that our state is able to tell we are under new administration – because the state employees are forced to remain at work during a storm.

Friday night shopping

Attempting to go shopping on a Friday night is a huge mistake, especially during the Christmas season!  First off there are way too many people in the large big box stores during this season in general.  However, it seems to me that this time of year Friday and Saturday nights are especially used for a  source of entertainment at these venues.  This makes getting through the isles extra tough. leading a person to be extra cranky!

Secondly,  the other challenge is not being able to fulfill your shopping goals because you end up running into ever Tom, Dick and Harry you know.  And while you could just ignore them and pretend you did not see them this would make life just a little more difficult down the road when actually do need to speak to them.  Therefore it is better to just take that extra five or too often 20 minutes out of your shopping and clog up another isle in the store chatting- like so many other people do.

Shocking

As I was watching my grandson David this weekend we decided to sit down and watch some TV, kind of take a break from the non stop world of a six year old. I was absolutely shocked at what they are calling kids cartoons now. I had no idea there was so much suggestive stuff plus all the very graphic violence. The cartoons that we watched when I was his age, even when my own kids were that age are nothing like the total crap they are watching now days. I am not a prude but I was very offended by it, and it needs to be stopped before more kids are ruined by TV.

Hockey season

The 2008 hockey season gets under way tomorrow night and I am very ready, it has been a long time since the Red Wings won Lord Stanley’s cup and I am more than ready to get the puck dropped and get this team into the playoffs. It will be a long season but I think that the Nashville Predators will be in the fight again this year and I can not wait for this great game to play out and see what happens this year.

Those Rich Folks Owe Us Now

So the wimps in the House went ahead and passed the bail out legislation as presented by the Senate earlier this week, and the most inept President in history signed it today.

Those overpaid greedy professional gamblers on Wall Street now have a whole lot more money to play with, thanks to us taxpayers. And after all this, the DOW Jones STILL dropped 157 points. Unbelievable.

Big concert

The biggest concert of the year was tonight at the football stadium here in Nashville, Kenny Chesney and Keith Urban held their concert tonight, the weather held off and it was a wonderful night to attend a concert.

I do not go to concerts very often but this was one I did not want to miss, I was amazed at the crowd and parking was a mess like always downtown, this would of been a great time for the idiots at Metro to run a train to the concert, instead the train sits not making any money.

Rising prices

With the price of oil going through the roof, the price of goods we buy are rising too. The prices at the store have risen across the board, making it even harder to feed my family. The price of gasoline has risen to the point that we put off trips until we can do several at one time. Soon it will be hard to even use the car to get to work, it costs me $35 a day just to get back and forth to work, I may have to find a job closer to home or find a way to work from home if the price of gasoline does not drop soon.

Spring cleaning

It seems that every spring I have so much junk that has accumulated up over the past year that it takes me a couple of days to sort through it and get it to the curb to be hauled off. I do not know how it mounts up so fast or for that fact where it comes from, I am not a pack rat, I do not think so any way. The kids are gone so it is me and Walter making this mess each year, I am going to blame Walter he is old and grumpy anyway so he will not mind. Well this rant is done so back to throwing away Walter’s junk. Where did he get three over sized hula skirts anyway?
