I have a thing about native American spiritual art. This one is one of my absolute favorites. I thought that it would be nice to share with everyone. I did not make it myself, but just borrowed it from online. I find these all the time online. Hope you enjoy !
Almost Spring
It was cloudy when I woke up this morning, but the sun has come out and it’s a beautiful day. Cannot believe Spring is next week! Going into March, I wondered if we would finally have any big snow storms, but it looks like we dodged the bullet this Winter. All in all, it was one of the mildest Winters I remember. I was prepared, I purchased an electric snow blower during the bad storms two years ago. Luckily, it never left the closet. Trees and shrubs are turning green, flowering trees are blooming beautiful and the birds have been singing loudly every morning. Spring and Fall are my two favorite seasons so I am excited it’s finally here.
This was interesting
Was tilling my garden and found some Indian money. The kids are so happy about it, they plan on taking it to school to show their classes. Archaeology in the back yard is awesome. We also found a whole bunch of quartz and smooth rocks that are not indigenous to this area. We are taking them to the local science dept at the university to see just what they are. The university has a really nice staff that is only too helpful and happy to answer the children’s questions.
Rabbits
About the only wildlife I see in the yards of my neighborhood are lots of songbirds and a lot of squirrels. I know there must be rabbits, but I rarely see any. I suspect the rabbits just know my dogs would give them chase and they stay clear of my yard. Or perhaps they wait until we have all retired for the night and they come out in the moonlight. It would nice to see one every now and then – I think rabbits are cool little creatures.
Free eCards
A friend of mine in San Francisco is involved with this green company. Her name is Camilla Eriksson. She is a talented illustrator and graphic designer.
When you send the eCards for special occasions like birthdays, sponsors make donations to different nonprofit organizations. Its worth checking out and helping people if you like what you see.
Pesky Bugs!
One of the few bad things about living up north – besides the very cold winter weather – is the black flies. We have flies and mosquitoes in the warmer months and those can be extremely annoying. Most of the time when I know I will be out in the woods or around water I try to squirt a little Deep Woods Off on my arms and neck. But I wish there was an easier way to keep the biting flies and other bugs away from me!
Fresh Air
Finally warmer weather has arrived in time to start sleeping with the windows open. I wait all year long for the first goodnight’s sleep with the window open. I always sleep better with the window open.
One of the reasons and in particular the most important reasons are due to the melodic music heard in the night. Crickets are the most common noise heard but if you listen closely the sounds of the loons and bullfrogs along with the gentle breeze can be heard. These sounds are delightful and are one thing that city folk cannot begin to understand unless they experience them first hand.
Another reason is for the fresh country air. The air in the country is very different from the city. Some may say that the air is different because of the melodic sounds described earlier. Others simply say that it is due to pollution or lack of pollution. Either way the best medicine for a goodnight’s sleep is the fresh country air with the band of bullfrogs playing in the background.
Super moon
Tomorrow night there is going to be a super lunar occurance. The world news reports that the moon will be closest to the Earth then it ever has been. Astrologer Richard Nolle coined the term “supermoon” because the Earth’s satellite will be its closest in 18 years at a distance of 355,377 kilometers. This term also describes the new moon or full moon at 90% or more of its closest orbit to Earth.
Other scientists state that everyone should be vigilant during tomorrow night at well as through March 22. At this time the location of the moon’s orbit can cause a surge in tides, earthquake activity and volcanic activity. According to the USGS website the earthquake in Haiti occurred during this time as well as the most recent Japan earthquake. Scientists say that many of our natural disasters occur when the moon is closest to the Earth. Personally, I plan to go out tomorrow and check out the huge moon and wait just like I did years ago when they were warning us about Y2K. And what happened in the year 2000- absolutely nothing. Time will have to tell us.
Redecorating
Currently, I am thinking about redecorating my kitchen. I am considering a lodge/ mountainous theme with pinecones, deer and moose. I absolutely fell in love with this theme ever since I saw it on the internet.
The best part of this theme is that it will be easy to transfer it over to the adjoining living room. I plan on slowly adding pieces of this theme to my house. The accessories I have seen with this theme are very expensive; otherwise you end up with what I consider “cheesy” merchandise. Adding these pieces slowly will give me a greater appreciation for everything once it all comes together.
Cold Snap
The weather across the Northeast is going to be turning extremely bitter in the next few weeks. Canada is going to be sending a large cold front South and placing the residents of the Northeast into a freeze. Generally weather in the Northeast is cold in the month of January. However, it is not always this cold.
Frigid is a great way to explain the weather condition that these poor residents will be facing shortly. People need to keep an eye on their pipes and walkways. Frozen pipes can be a big headache but slipping on the front porch can pose more than just a headache. The best place pets and people during these frigid weeks is indoors by the fireplace.
