Satellite vs. Cable

Recently, I decided to switch back over to cable.  I had been using satellite for a couple of years because they were providing me a good deal.  However, they were not able to give me a good Internet deal so I was forced to still use the cable company to have my Internet.

This was very inconvenient and I was having to pay two bills when I could condense them into one.  Finally, my contract was up with the satellite company and I cancelled.  I talked with the cable company and they were able to bundle my Internet and cable so that it was still cheaper than paying for both with two different companies.  I had to laugh at the fact they also tried to sell me a phone bundle but I told them I use my cell phone so I didn’t need a land line.  I guess if I had a fax line it would be handy but I don’t right now so I said no thanks to them.  I hope to get a fax machine in the future because besides emails, faxing is the next best way to communicate quickly.

Nearly a short circuit

Yesterday, I had two sets of fuses trip in my house. I was very surprised! I have a brand new house and couldn’t have imagined that I could overload the circuit in two different areas of the house at two different times. One was totally unexplained but the other I guess was caused by the small little vacuum I was using. And when I say small vacuum, I really mean like a supped –up dust buster.

This has never happened before and I really was unsure of what to do. I decided to call up my better half and ask. He said I needed to go to the electrical box. I did and again to my surprise every room was neatly labeled in the box. How convenient I thought to myself. So I just flipped the switch back over to the “on” position and I was back in business. Later that evening when I came home to find the same thing had happened but in the kitchen, I knew just what to do! I repeated the same steps and it was like magic. I felt quite self- sufficient and figured a day is never wasted when you learn something new!

Redecorating

Currently, I am thinking about redecorating my kitchen.  I am considering a lodge/ mountainous theme with pinecones, deer and moose.  I absolutely fell in love with this theme ever since I saw it on the internet. 

The best part of this theme is that it will be easy to transfer it over to the adjoining living room.  I plan on slowly adding pieces of this theme to my house.  The accessories I have seen with this theme are very expensive; otherwise you end up with what I consider “cheesy” merchandise.  Adding these pieces slowly will give me a greater appreciation for everything once it all comes together.

All Inked Up

Inkgrabber.com is a good website from what I have viewed.  On this website I mostly looked at their Kodak products.  The Kodak Company has been around for many years.  I have always trusted Kodak including their printers.  I was excited to see that this website offers great deals on Kodak ink.

Printer ink cartridges can be so expensive.  At times I have wondered why they are so expensive.  After all, it is only ink.  Finding inkgrabber.com was a super find because I can now purchase Kodak ink cartridges for less than what I was paying before.  It is important to me to stay with the Kodak brand and inkgrabber.com has a very user friendly website with plenty of Kodak brand items including Kodak printer ink.  In the future I plan to stay with the Kodak brand.  This website has shed new light on an old company.  I was glad to be exposed to their website.  I will be sure to pass along a good word for inkgrabber.com.

Beautiful blooms

This year I plan on having as many window box planters as I can possibly afford.  Window boxes can be quite expensive.  The amount of time and money spend on each window box can add up to hundreds of dollars in the end.  There are multiple ways a person can be frugal and still have beautiful blooms.

A decorative planter can be made out of nearly any type of material.  Plastic and wood are quite popular options used as a base for an arrangement.  Other ideas can be as simply as a recycled food container or an antique mental container.  Recycled and older containers can easily be spruced up with a little paint or embellishments.  Surprisingly, these small touches can make the used container look like a high end planter.  A person’s neighbors will never know the difference once you fill these planters with some beautiful blooms.  What the neighbors will be looking at is the color and density of what is in the boxes.  No doubt you will receive compliments and even be asked perhaps how your container was constructed.

Flowering ideas

Spring cannot come soon enough!  One of my favorite times of year is the spring time.  During this time I always visit at least one flower show.  While I am there I usually see multiple kinds of window box planters.  Multiple businesses are always on hand at these shows to assist the visitors with window box ideas. 

Usually when I attend these flower shows I bring at least one friend with me and we make a day of the trip.  None of my friends are as garden savvy as I am but I can most times convince them to have at least one pot of flowers on their porch for the season.  Maybe this year I will be able to convince them to have a couple of window boxes.

Window boxes can contain numerous kinds of plants.  They can be window flower boxes or garden window boxes.  I have made several window flower boxes but I have yet to make a vegetable window box.  I think this year I just may try planting a few vegetables in a window box.

Sunrise

This morning was the most beautiful sunrise.  I love watching  multiple colors dance across the sky as the world awakens.  Someday I shall have a mural in my home of a sunrise.  Many of the local hardware stores have murals for sale of sunrises.  They do not come cheap.

However, the motifs they offer are worth the cost.  They even have some designs that include palm trees and white sand.  This is a relaxing scene as well.

Dogs Days Continue

The heat index is what I care about lately. How hot does it feel? How much more heat can we stand?

The temperature, humidity and lack of a cool breeze have made it feel like over 100 degrees for almost 3 months straight now. We still have all of August and most of September as our summer. Ugh!

We sure could use a couple of weeks of cooler temperatures.

Safe and sound

In these very troubled times I want to make sure that my home and family are safe and sound.  I use ADT Home Security to make sure we are safe and all of our property is safe at the same time. Being a single mom that has two jobs and does work a lot my kids being safe while at home is very important to me and I strive to make sure they are very safe.

I use ADT Home Security to make sure my home is safe because they have the best name in home security and I trust them with the lives of me and my kids. Not to mention the property we have worked to have, the protection of the things in your home is very important too. Protection from break in and having a fire are the two main things that I worry about and ADT has a great track record in the protection of homes and lives from these very things.

I know that ADT Home Security will be there if my family needs them and that is very comforting to me and my family. Many of the people at work have taken my advise and called ADT to protect their homes too.

Summer storms

I have always had a healthy respect for summer storms, ever since when I was a little girl we were whisked away to my grand parents storm cellar to ride out a twister. Ever since I have been fascinated by weather to the point of obsessing during storm warnings. The safety of family and pets is very important to me and I would never live in a house with out a basement for this reason. So we are remodeling our basement with a storm shelter stocked with food and water to ride out storms, I hope we never have to use it.
