Lovin life

Today is going to be a great day. I have been working on my Bzzagent account over the last two days and it is finally up to date. I had gotten a little behind over the last year with every thing else that has happened. Now I can start doing that again. I love getting free products to try out. They send me the newest stuff and I get to see how good it is. Then I just write a review about it and viola ! It is so cool. Anyway, I am going to check on my work stuff now. so I have to go. Have a great one!

Cool

Now this is a good idea. Not only does it save space, but it looks good as well. The kids each have their own light for reading in bed and such.

I think that some idea’s are definitely worth trying. Hope you like the picture.

Tilled the garden

Finally, I got the garden tilled and ready to plant. It took me forever to get the flower beds done so that I could start on the garden. I have so many plans for my yard it is not even funny. I am growing a ton of veggies this year to freeze. I had bought a deep freezer over the winter for just that purpose. I needed it because my brother brought me a lot of meat from his hunting trip and now it will serve double duty. Fresh meat and veggies to last a good long while.

Pretty

I love butterfly’s and I love fantasy. If you put them together I am in heaven. I am putting in a butterfly garden out in front of my house to attract as many of them as possible. I know that the kids will absolutely love it and so will I. I can’t wait to see all of the butterfly’s this summer.

Busy busy

Gosh I have been so busy with all of the yard work. Every time I turn around there is something else that needs taking care of. I love spring and the opportunity to be out doors, but I have planned so many different projects that I am getting a little behind. At least I think I am. Who knows, maybe I just need a little help with it, as there is so much to do. Not that it matters, I will have it done eventually.

This was interesting

Was tilling my garden and found some Indian money. The kids are so happy about it, they plan on taking it to school to show their classes. Archaeology in the back yard is awesome. We also found a whole bunch of quartz and smooth rocks that are not indigenous to this area. We are taking them to the local science dept at the university to see just what they are. The university has a really nice staff that is only too helpful and happy to answer the children’s questions.

Where are you Spring?

It’s February, typically the bleakest month of the year. That ol’ Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow on Ground Hog’s Day – which is my birthday, by the way, predicting 6 more weeks of winter. I get through the winter by daydreaming about sunshine and nice weather. I enjoy laying out in my back yard in a chaise lounge, sun bathing or reading a good book. To get me through the winter doldrums, I also like to plan my yard. I love to garden. My yard is small these days so I look for all possibilities for flowers and color. One thing I’m thinking about are window boxes. They allow me to use space above the ground, and I am certainly short on ground space. I think flower boxes would add color and beauty to my house.

You can plant hanging plants that cascade down, it can be a lovely effect. I tend to plant a lot of red flowers, my favorite color. I love geraniums, they would add a splash of red in a windowbox. I’ll have to look up the name of a silvery vine that I have seen that would look lovely aside my beloved geraniums. If it looks as good as I think, I will take a photo and post it!

Family Jewels?

Yesterday, I read in my newspaper that a resident of Vienna Austria was working in his garden and stumbled upon some buried treasure. This must have been quite exciting for the gardener. It turns out that the jewelry that was found is over 650 years old.  My first question to this finding is why were they buried?

Multiple explanations can be said for such discoveries. Perhaps the owner of these jewels had to bury them for fear that they would be stolen.  Or maybe the keeper of the jewels had stolen them and was trying to hide them for future use?  Either way I personally wouldn’t mind finding some jewels in my backyard. I am not sure what I would do with them or if I would report it to officials. Maybe I would sell them. If the jewels are found on my property either way then I say “finder’s keepers.”

Easter Presents

I received the cutest set of lamps and picture for Easter.  As I have mentioned before, my kitchen and living room motif has a woodland theme going on.  These lamps are the perfect for the living room because right now I have mismatching living room lamps. These lamps are in the shade of trees and each has three bears trying to climb up the tree in search of honey from a beehive.  There is a pot of honey at the bottom waiting for any collection.  The shade of the lamp is cool too.  It is textured like tree bark and has a leather lacing across the top and bottom, very rustic looking.  The picture looks like a painting.  There are four bears looking across a body of water at a camp site that has a tent pitched with a campfire.  It is nighttime so the moon is shining and the water just glows.

I hung the picture up and plugged the lamps in immediately.  Now, at night when I watch my television I can enjoy all three of them.  Those three little things set off a mood of relaxation and a true down- home feeling.

Deep in the heart of Texas

Some friends of mine are thinking of moving to the big state of Texas.  Both of them are from the North but since the economy has declined, their jobs are in jeopardy of downsizing.  They have recently been looking for different jobs all over the country.  One of the most important areas to check out besides securing employment is securing a place to live.  They have been concentrating on Dallas real estate.  The husband is much more concerned about the available of Dallas homes for sale than his wife.

In my spare time I have helped them search as well for not only jobs but for Dallas homes for sale.  They are some- what picky about what kind of home them want.  the biggest attraction for them is having a large backyard and central air conditioning.  I do not think that any home in the state of Texas comes without central air conditioning.  That state can be so hot that it is nearly unbearable to anyone not used to it.  My friends will definitely will have some adjusting to do because they are used to 20 below winters and 70 degree summers.
