Charlie Brown Thanksgiving

I love Charlie Brown television specials.  They always make me feel happier after the show is over.  Charlie Brown is very lucky to have such caring friends.

Charlie Brown’s friends made sure that they were all able to eat Thanksgiving dinner together despite not having a turkey.  This television special shows that as long as people gather with others who care about them they can have a great meal and holiday even without the traditional fixings.

Trip to Salem

Halloween will be here in just a few days.  Like I mentioned earlier I will be traveling to Salem.  I have to pack tonight or else I will be out of time.  I must leave tomorrow morning in order to avoid traffic.

I suspect I will be ahead of most of the traffic however, I might meet some fellow stragglers like myself along the way.  I have never been to Salem before so I mustn’t forget my GPS.  I think I would be hesitant to ask for directions the closer I got to Salem!

Halloween

Halloween is almost here and I can’t wait!  I am thinking about traveling to some place spooky for Halloween.  That is going to be so much fun!  I do not generally like to see scary things or at least subject myself to them.  However this year is going to be different.

I am going to be brave and see if I can go meet some witches. Maybe they can cast a good luck spell on me. Whats the worst that could happen? I suppose I could be changed into a frog.

Birthdays

October seems to be a popular month for birthdays.  I know so many people this month with a birthday.  I even know two people with birthdays on Halloween.

I think it would be neat to have a birthday on Halloween.  This would be one of the better holidays to have a birthday on.  I wonder if I would want a “Halloween themed” birthday celebration or if I would want to pretend my birthday wasn’t on Halloween?  It sure beats Christmas.

Festive cookies

Today I am going to bake some holiday cookies.  I enjoy making sugar cookies in festive shapes and then decorate them with colored frosting.  It is so cheerful!

I think this year I will bake some pumpkins this year.  Some will be jack-o-lanterns and others will be regular pumpkins.  I really like pumpkins because they can be good for the entire fall season.

Big Weekend

This weekend has been awesome!  Labor Day weekend is always a blast.  It is a chance to have an end of summer party.  It is a great time to enjoy the final days of warmer weather.

I had a lot of people over to my place this weekend.  We even let the children camp out in the backyard.  They always love this.  Sitting around the camp fire and reminiscing about past summer memories is perhaps the most enjoyable of all.

Fireworks!

Tonight is the annual fireworks in my community.  They are always spectacular.  This is when the community really comes together; on the Fourth of July.  My community spends a great deal of time raising money for the fireworks year round.

This year we have raised one of our greatest amounts so it ought to be a fantastic show.  After the fireworks we all gather at the dairy bar to eat ice cream.  I can’t wait for this too because I am really craving mint chocolate chip!  Happy Independence Day!

Winter

The one season that I dislike the most is the winter time, I would say that I hate it except winter has Christmas and that I do love as much for my kids sake as mine. The family seems to get closer at Christmas time and that seems to make winter a much more tolerable to me. After Christmas it will be back to the winter blues. I can not wait for spring, it is my favorite season and every year spring pulls me out of my winter funk and puts a smile on my face. Come on Spring we are waiting on you!

Wet fireworks

Last night just as they were getting ready to fire off the Fourth of July fireworks a major storm swept through this area. A couple of tornado’s were spotted near Clarksville and we got a huge lightning display, it looked like Mother Nature had her own fireworks this year. I remember as a kid it seemed to rain every year on the Fourth of July and I guess I just got used to the idea of rain on Independence Day. Lets hope the rest of the weekend is clear of any more major storms this year.

Mother’s Day

Yesterday was a wonderful day for me, my kids made me breakfast in bed and they let me sleep until almost noon, it was grand. Then they cleaned the house these are the kids that will not pick up their own dirty socks and put them in the hamper. I wish every Sunday was Mother’s Day in this house. I then got to talk to my Mom for almost an hour last night, that topped off a wonderful day for me. i want to say thank you to the kids who tried very hard and their dad who helped I am sure behind the scenes. Now back to the grind of everyday life.
