One of those days

This is how I feel today.

I have a mean Kitteh attitude today and can’t seem to get rid of it. I guess I am just going to have to go with the flow and hope that the day gets a little better. If not then I will go to bed early tonight and pray that tomorrow is better.

Almost Spring

It was cloudy when I woke up this morning, but the sun has come out and it’s a beautiful day. Cannot believe Spring is next week! Going into March, I wondered if we would finally have any big snow storms, but it looks like we dodged the bullet this Winter. All in all, it was one of the mildest Winters I remember. I was prepared, I purchased an electric snow blower during the bad storms two years ago. Luckily, it never left the closet. Trees and shrubs are turning green, flowering trees are blooming beautiful and the birds have been singing loudly every morning. Spring and Fall are my two favorite seasons so I am excited it’s finally here.

Travel to the UK

I hope someday to travel. I know that part of me is Scottish, I hope to unlock the whole puzzle of my ancestry before I die. I would love to visit the UK so I’ve been doing a little internet searching. Seems a lot of people live in apartments and they call them Flats there. That’s cute, almost as cute as their accents. I guess they would think I am the one with an accent. Anyway, my searches have lead me to Flats to rent in Glasgow, , Flats to rent in Edinburgh and Flats to rent in Aberdeen.

Although it’s been great fun looking at the photos of the homes, I have a lot more research to do as far as where I’d like to stay, whats nearby, etc. Also I am hoping more genealogy research will give me a better idea of where I’d like to travel and stay.

My particular genealogy is a bit of a huge puzzle as I hardly knew my father and know nothing about his family. Not for lack of trying on my part. I’ve actually connected recently with his youngest sister on facebook and hope (pray) she will unlock some family secrets.

Perfectly Honest

Guest written by our friend Katie Callahan

To be perfectly honest I never saw much of a need for wireless internet at our house. I thought it was a waste of money and anything I needed to do on the computer I could just do at my desk like any other self respecting person did but you know what? Ever since my daughter got us Clear when we moved to the new house I’m like a new woman. I’ve got the laptop in the kitchen where I pull up recipes and I take it out to the garden to catch up on my favorite blogs and I spend a lot of time with it in the bedroom where I finish work at night before I go to bed – it’s made me much more mobile and flexible. I can’t believe I waited this long to get with it, as my daughter would say, but she’s always the one who’s pushed me to be better than I was before so I’m not surprised she’s the one to turn me on to wireless.

Vacation Planning

I am planning a week vacation in Williamsburg, Va during the summer. I have a time share — long story –purchased years ago with a previous husband so that we had no reason not to vacation. It’s a lovely place, a five star resort and I’ve never had a bad experience there. Most people I’ve taken, wanted to live there! It’s about an hour away from Virginia Beach so I hope to spend a night in a hotel on the beach. Been awhile since I’ve had a vacation, and sadly too long since I’ve made fun plans so this is big news. Of course there is much to do in Historic Williamsburg, I love the town and the history. I have wanted to go on a Ghost Walk there, hope to get that done this trip. During the summer months an outdoor pool is open as well as the indoor pool There is a hot tub, and some rooms have saunas. Sounds super relaxing right about now, and just what I need.

It is always something!

I guess it will always be something! I go tomorrow morning for testing to see if I have Lyme Disease! Yes, i’ve been feeling poorly but attributed it only to getting older. Had a routine check up and yes, I just may have Lyme Disease.

I used to camp a lot, every other weekend. We had a little travel trailer that we pulled behind the pickup truck and would go all over the area, from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the Eastern Shore. It was the best time of my life, and I still wouldn’t change it for the world.

Thankfully, Lyme is treatable, but sounds like a pain, as the antibiotics are not given in pill form but shot form. Because of the frequency, a port has to be installed, in my chest, I assume. I’ll have more information tomorrow. Stay tuned!

Enough of this weather!!

The weather has been so strange this winter. I wonder if this is the effect of “Global Warming”. It’s be unseasonably warm and very sunny most days. I am really enjoying it but I worry that bad weather will hit very hard later this month or next. I have also noticed in years past, that when we do not have long hard freezes during the winter, fleas and other insects are much worse in the summer. My poor kitty cats suffer enough with fleas, i do not wish to invite more.

Today was perfectly sunny one moment and then snowing and hailing with high winds a few minutes later.

Oh well, we have no control. I’ll just sit back and enjoy whatever comes my way.

Having a fun vampire theme Halloween party

Whenever I’m going to a Halloween party that isn’t actually on Halloween, I always appreciate when the party has a theme that you’re encouraged to dress up with to match. Even though I always put a lot of thought into my Halloween costume, I like to make sure that I don’t repeat it. I’ve just always been that way. So I thought that if I’m going to throw a Halloween party, I’m going to make sure that there’s a theme people will be able to dress up as to fit it.

This year, I’m throwing a vampire party. I looked online with my Clear Midland to find some ideas about some good themes that I could put on and I decided that would be the easiest to dress up as and that it will be really easy to dress to anyway.

Besides, I had some leftover vampire things from a Halloween a few years back that I thought I could get some use out of at this party. I think that this party is going to be especially fun and I’m looking forward to seeing how all of my guests decide to interpret the theme!

Trade Show Displays

I recently posted about purchasing promotional products to give away at tradeshows, conferences, and other tabling opportunities. My local Chamber of Commerce has a monthly luncheon where I often have a display.

In addition to promotional products, I have recently been shopping for a tradeshow display. I am thinking of getting something blank that I can switch the signage on, corresponding to the seasons and different offers we have. I could just attach the signs with velcro and keep the signs from year to year. This helps save money as they would be generic and reusable.

There are so many types of displays. I am having trouble making up my mind! There are pop up displays and table top pop ups. I guess it can actually be as simple or as complex as you would like. Some can be carried and installed by one person. Others require a whole team of people to put them together.

The pop up trade show displays are the most dramatic and really give you the opportunity to professionally display your item.

I usually travel solo when going out to tradeshows and other events, so what I get must be small and manageable. I carry so many flyers, and promotional items, it can really be a lot to tote!

New Technology

A new year has me thinking about all of the new technology that is available these days. I really need to come into the present which includes iPods, iPads, etc. I need to do some research because I am not very educated on the subject. I don’t even have a smart phone but I see different applications are available almost everywhere I go. You can scan barcodes and download applications instantly. The iPhones are definitely interesting and far more advanced than any cell phone service I have had in the past.

As I am becoming more interested in these products I find it exciting to learn that you can put DVD movies on your Ipad. There are many editing features. You can even extract audio from DVD and download it to your MP3 player. These products and Wifi allow you to take technology with you wherever you go.

My first purchase is going to be an MP3 player so that I can enjoy music in my office. No more do you have to have a large boom box or radio or stereo system. An MP3 players fits into a small speaker system and voila! your favorite music. I love being able to select the songs I enjoy and having them at my fingertips.
