Thanksgiving

Well, Thanksgiving is in a few days.  I really wish that Thanksgiving was given a little more attention.  Years after years retail stores like to drag out the Halloween candy immediately after the Fourth of July and as soon as Halloween is over they spend what feels like only a week on Thanksgiving decorations before Christmas is taken out.

In the future it would be nice to see the stores spend more time celebrating this important holiday.  This holiday is the foundation of our country.  We should give thanks not only for all we have been given but also to the pioneers who came before us.

Charlie Brown Thanksgiving

I love Charlie Brown television specials.  They always make me feel happier after the show is over.  Charlie Brown is very lucky to have such caring friends.

Charlie Brown’s friends made sure that they were all able to eat Thanksgiving dinner together despite not having a turkey.  This television special shows that as long as people gather with others who care about them they can have a great meal and holiday even without the traditional fixings.

Halloween

Halloween is almost here and I can’t wait!  I am thinking about traveling to some place spooky for Halloween.  That is going to be so much fun!  I do not generally like to see scary things or at least subject myself to them.  However this year is going to be different.

I am going to be brave and see if I can go meet some witches. Maybe they can cast a good luck spell on me. Whats the worst that could happen? I suppose I could be changed into a frog.

Harvest

Today I helped a family member harvest the remaining vegetables from their garden.  They asked me to help due to the chance of a frost.  If we leave the remaining crops out in the garden they will be soft and potentially ruined.  It is better to take the time today and get it done.

My family enjoys my help when I gave give it.  I do my best because it is important to help people whether they are your family or not.

Big Weekend

This weekend has been awesome!  Labor Day weekend is always a blast.  It is a chance to have an end of summer party.  It is a great time to enjoy the final days of warmer weather.

I had a lot of people over to my place this weekend.  We even let the children camp out in the backyard.  They always love this.  Sitting around the camp fire and reminiscing about past summer memories is perhaps the most enjoyable of all.

County Fair

Tonight a group of friends and I are going to the county fair.  This fair isn’t really that big of a thrill but more of a social engagement.  I usually am able to catch up with some old friends at theses places.

My friends and I besides socializing like to grab some tasty fried dough and french fries.  These is nothing quite like the grease from fresh fried food.  It is a good thing that I do not have the opportunity to eat these foods all the time.  I would be as big a a house!

Fireworks!

Tonight is the annual fireworks in my community.  They are always spectacular.  This is when the community really comes together; on the Fourth of July.  My community spends a great deal of time raising money for the fireworks year round.

This year we have raised one of our greatest amounts so it ought to be a fantastic show.  After the fireworks we all gather at the dairy bar to eat ice cream.  I can’t wait for this too because I am really craving mint chocolate chip!  Happy Independence Day!

Rain

Today we finally got some much needed rain, of curse it started while I was out walking dogs. I can handle getting wet no problem there, but the lightning was a bit nerve racking. A good friend of mine her husband was struck and killed by lightning and since then I have been a little nervous around lightning. I guess we have to have a little lightning with our rain so I will just keep going inside when it starts and watch out the window.
