More shopping

We suddenly realized that the catering company doesn’t provide the tablecloths we want for the wedding, so we have to buy some that will match the rest of the theme. They had several to choose from but it just wasn’t what my friend wanted. We are looking online to see what is out there. I am certain we will find what we need on there. Believe it or not, the table cloths are really important for the other decorations we already have. I didn’t even think about it at the time, but I am glad we caught it now, rather than later.

Planning a wedding is so full of details, that it is not uncommon to forget things. So we downloaded a wedding planner list from online to help us. We thought about it today after we realized we almost forgot the tablecloths. Now we are steadily checking off what we have already done and re making another list of things that aren’t done yet. This is really helpful. Now I am confident that we wont forget anything else, so long as it is on the list. There is, of course, always the chance but it is highly doubtful. Wish us luck!

Unique Wedding Favors

I found some really Unique wedding favors for my friends wedding. There were little candy jar shaped salt and pepper shakers, little bird cages, a Cinderella carriage candle and so many more that it has become really difficult to choose. Some of them are practical things that can be used over and over. This is really cool because it gives the wedding guest a permanent memory that they can see almost daily. Whether it is a wine bottle stopper, stone coasters, salt and pepper shakers or something else. Every time the guest uses it, they recall the wedding and how much fun they had attending.

A lot of the favors are decorative. There are elegant, whimsical, silly, or just plain cute favors that will always bring a smile to the person who takes this favor home with them. I am really in awe at the genius of some of the favors that I have found. Anything that holds candy, is always a good choice. Everyone likes a sweet, and if you fill them with sugarless sweets, even those who are diabetic can enjoy them. You should always show consideration for people who have diabetes when choosing this particular favor. That way, no one feels left out. It is a good practice anyway.

Wonderful Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas with the family. We had a big brunch after the kids opened their gifts. They weren’t very happy about having to wait for the family arrived, but we had already agreed so they only pouted a little bit. I just laughed at them, because as I mentioned before they had agreed. Fortunately the family wasn’t late for a change and the second the last one arrived the kids dug into the presents like starving animals to food. It was hilarious.

The kids were happy though, they got pretty much everything they asked for and then some, so I am content. I wasn’t sure I would be able to pull it off, but I just barely managed to handle everything. I was shopping for that last present on Christmas eve, and wasn’t sure I would find it. I ended up paying more then I anticipated, but it was so worth it. Hope everyone had a great day too.

Wedding favors

Oh, I got the cutest little Wedding favors at a friends wedding. They were miniature gum ball machines. Of course you don’t have to put only gum balls in them. You can put mints or chocolates in them. The wedding was a fifties style wedding with decorations to match and the gumball machines were the party favors. The kids loved it when I brought one home. It now rests on a table in the living room, filled with peanuts. My littlest guy is always going and getting a peanut. I doubt he will ever grow tired of it.

Time for breakfast

I think I will go make a small breakfast for me and my little guy. Some cream of wheat and scrambled eggs sounds divine right now. Maybe I will add a little toast on the side with jelly. I know he will like that.

He hasn’t been eating much lately, so I have to find something to tempt his appetite. This looks good, with a little fruit on the top.

Movin right along

Well, I am cooking like a fiend already. Baking even before the holidays arrive. I made a pumpkin pie already as well as cookies. I have the makings for a Flan that I am going to make soon as well. Plus, I have to get a new food processor so I can make some of my Christmas cookies this year. You would not believe how much I use a food processor. I totally burnt the other one out in just two years. That is totally amazing.

My mother just laughs about it and says I am doing well if I can burn out a FP in that amount of time. Personally I think I need to buy a much better one than the last one was. Anyway, I am sure to gain some weight with all of this cooking.

The old homestead

I am at my grandparents farm for the weekend. The kids wanted to visit and spend a little time here and since they are on fall break, I thought it was a good idea. I am helping my granny do some canning and such. I love spending time with her doing this. My daughter is learning this old time skill and surprisingly enough, she is enjoying it too. There is something to be said for old school skills like this, it makes for really good family time.

Outback

I had the best dinner last night. I went to the Outback Steakhouse with the girls for dinner. We were supposed to go to a movie, but were enjoying the atmosphere so much, we ended up staying there after dinner. We just moved our party into the bar and watched the game that was playing on the TV. I am sure that their husbands are going to get a laugh over that one. I certainly am.

Blah

I really don’t feel like being up this early. I wish I was still asleep, but the kids are already up and on it this morning, so I have no choice. At least the coffee is made and I am on my second cup. I suppose I will make myself something to eat soon. The brats already had cereal, so I don’t have to worry about that. Oh well, time to get on with my day.

Tilled the garden

Finally, I got the garden tilled and ready to plant. It took me forever to get the flower beds done so that I could start on the garden. I have so many plans for my yard it is not even funny. I am growing a ton of veggies this year to freeze. I had bought a deep freezer over the winter for just that purpose. I needed it because my brother brought me a lot of meat from his hunting trip and now it will serve double duty. Fresh meat and veggies to last a good long while.
