Telling me all about it

My son is so excited about his new job, that he comes home and tells me every little detail. Last night he was telling me about the chainsaws that his uncle bought from www.sherrilltree.com. He says they are the best chainsaws ever built and work so good that they cut through the toughest trees. Well I am glad that he is so excited about this and equally happy that he is taking an interest in everything about it in order to learn more. It is just great that he is happy even though it is a tough job working out in the sun and heat like that.

I know a lot of men who wouldn’t be able to handle it. While I know that he is interested in the chainsaws and such, he is not allowed to run one, before you ask. The extent of his cutting is with a small hand saw or hatchet to help make everything fit into the trailer. I trust his uncle implicitly and know that he would never allow him to do anything like run a chainsaw at his age. Maybe in another couple of years when he is like 16 or so, will he teach him how to do that, but not now.

Summer job

So my 14 year old got a summer job working with his uncle. His uncle has a tree cutting service and needed help loading branches and stuff onto a trailer. It doesn’t pay as much as I would like but my son says he doesn’t care since he is making money. He is working to buy something, although I am not sure what as he won’t say anything other than there is something he wants to buy. At least he is working towards it on his own. I can’t wait to see what it is though.

Ah the joys of parenthood

While having children is a lot of fun and very rewarding, every now and then all you can do is shake your head. Kids tend to do stupid things, but my son just won the award for the dumbest thing for the year. Maybe the dumbest thing ever. He actually took his pocket knife to school. Grrrrr….he said he forgot it was in the back pack, but seriously, he should have checked his stuff before he walked out the door. Fortunately he goes to a school that knows him well and was understanding. I am happy that they did not enforce the “no tolerance” rule. He is happy that he didn’t end up in juvenile court. Lord save me from my kids! smh….

The eldest

Well my eldest son needs some new Guitar Effects for his electric guitar. He has been playing since he was about five years old and is really good. My brother started teaching him when he was just a little guy and he absolutely fell in love with it. Of course, now it is a bit more costly as he has progressed to more sophisticated equipment. It won’t be long before he has his own band out in my garage, driving the neighbors crazy.

Easy dinner tonight

I think I will make an easy dinner tonight. We are going to have steak sandwiches and french fries. The kids love them, especially the fries and I don’t have a lot of clean up. I have a lot of work to still get done, so easy is the word of the night. I might even allow my eldest son to help make the Steakums steaks while I do the fries. He just loves to cook and always offers to help. His specialty is pancakes though. He makes them almost every weekend for Saturday breakfast. I am slowly teaching him little by little, but I am an over protective mom and get afraid he will burn himself. I have to learn to curb that a little bit. Ah well, gotta get back to work. Talk to ya’ll later.

Pancakes for breakfast

My son is making breakfast this morning. We are having pancakes. I bought one of those add water and shake bottles of pancake mix and he can do it all by himself. He loves to cook and pancakes are one of his absolute favorites. Of course I keep one eye on him, because he is only ten, but he does really well. He will be a wonderful cook one day.

Kid home sick

Well this morning my son tells me he has some nauseousness and almost threw up. Of course I probably should have sent him to school anyway, because as I suspected, a couple of hours later he says he feels better. He was probably just tired because he had a hard time falling asleep last night and didn’t want to go to bed. I hate it when the kids pull this crap, because then when they really are sick I don’t want to believe them. It makes it very hard to decide when to keep them home and when not to. grrrrrr
