I went back to bed after getting the kids off to school this morning and slept until eleven thirty. I cannot believe I slept so long. I wasn’t feeling that well though and I guess my body needed the rest. Now my day is half gone and I have a ton of stuff to get done before the kids get home. I am pretty sure that I won’t finish all of it, as I still feel a little off. I can only hope that whatever laid me out this morning, doesn’t affect the kids and doesn’t get any worse. Wish me luck.
The time has come to winterize the trees here around the house. Sometimes we get really bad ice storms and need to cut back branches that could possibly break and fall on the house or cars. We picked up some arborist supplies a while back for just this occasion. Sometimes, it is necessary to do this in the spring too.
We get really bad spring storms, with high level, straight line winds. They can knock a full grown tree over in a split second. We tend to be very careful about how tall we allow the trees to grow right next to the house, because of it.
I have been watching the news and the hurricane that is hitting the north east is going to be a real doozy. There is a cold front down from the arctic as well that will make some of the rain turn to snow. That doesn’t happen often during a hurricane. I feel sorry for all the people who will be without power afterwards. They are going to have problems with the cold weather. I hope my family will keep safe.
My little cousins band cut some new tracks of their very own. They sound great. I decided to give them a little helping hand and located a company for cd replication. We will replicate their cd and send it off to a few music companies and radio stations. Then we can see what kind of response they have. Hopefully they will love it as much as I do, and the kids can get a contract. I am crossing my fingers.
I took the kids to the Indian Pow wow this past weekend. We had so much fun and the kids learned so much. A friend of mine has a daughter who was the Pow wow princess this year and last year. The kids thought it was really neat that they knew someone who was actually in the ceremonies. They made me promise to bring them again next year. I told them that there would be another one in the spring and we would certainly go.
The event planning for the Feed the Hungry charity we have here in our little town is well under way. I am on the planning committee with my mother and we have gotten so much done already. Our dinner is the first week of November, just in time for the holiday season when so many people need help. I know that it is a busy time of year for people, but making time to help others is worth it.
The kids are watching the Center of the Earth movie with Brendan Frasier. They are so funny. The fish in the movie scared them. My little guy started yelling and jumped about three feet into the air. I wish I had the camcorder out for that one. It would have made a great moment to save. I think I am going to have to keep it out more often.
My cousin ordered company koozies with his logo on it, for all of the employees. He also got enough to give away to clients as well. When he found out there were discount koozies available, he was so excited. He is like a kid in a candy shop when it comes to stuff like that. If he can slap his company logo on it, he will. It is a good thing though. He gets a lot of business because of it.
I have never chaperoned a dance before. I am not sure what to wear tonight. My son said some of the other parents will be wearing costumes, but I haven’t had time to buy mine yet. I suppose I will wear regular clothes, and just be there. I am sure that some of the parents will be as well. At least I hope they will.
Well my son is going to his first dance. He is in middle school and the Halloween dance is tonight. Since there is a costume contest, I decided to be very creative with his costume and do some major makeup. I can’t wait to see how it turns out and I hope he wins the contest. I am chaperoning the dance, so I will get to see it all as it happens. I am so excited.
