Essential Items to Keep in a Fireproof Safe

What items are a must to keep in a fireproof safe? Here’s a look at some of the things that you are definitely going to want to keep in this protective piece of equipment.

Insurance policies. You are definitely going to want to keep all of your current insurance policies in a fireproof safe. This includes any and all home insurance policies, as well as life insurance policies. These are extremely valuable and should they be damaged, it can be difficult to get new ones.

Birth certificates. You are also going to want to keep all birth certificates in a fireproof safe. This includes yours, your spouses and the birth certificates of your children. If these are damaged, you will never be able to get an original again.

Social security cards. Along with birth certificates, you should also keep social security cards in a fireproof safe. Should they be damaged in a fire, they can also be difficult to replace.

Passports. A passport is a valuable piece of identification, and it is also a memento that many people like to hold onto. Keep it protected from fire by keeping it in a fireproof safe.

Important legal documents. If you have any important documents, such as documents that illustrate power of attorney, living wills, health care proxies, you are going to want to store them in your fireproof safe.

Keep these valuable items protected from fire by storing them in a fireproof safe.

Creative juices

My brother has a really large living room with lots of large pieces of furniture. He has several recliners and a very large sectional sofa. For several years I’ve been wishing that I had room for a sectional sofa in my smaller house, but I didn’t think it was possible until my best friend Suzie told me about a website that she found. She told me that you can design your own sectional furniture at ClubFurniture dot com. I just went onto that website and was pleasantly surprised to see a pretty good selection of sectional sofas with a chaise on the end for smaller spaces.

I think that I just might buy one of them! The sofa we have in our living room now is too large for the space, and doesn’t have a chaise. I love the idea of having a chaise on one end of the sofa – I love putting my feet up, and if we have a chaise section I could do that and still have room on the sofa for other people to sit!

You are not going to believe this one

A friend of mine just showed me this and I loved it. I thought I would share it with you but be prepared to laugh!!!

This is why I really like Savannah.

Interesting Notice Found on Craig’s List Personals:

To the Guy Who Tried to Mug Me in Downtown Savannah night before last. Date: 2009-03-23, 3:43 AM EST

I was the guy with the black Barberry jacket that you demanded I hand over my wallet shortly after you pulled the knife on me and my girlfriend. You also asked for my girlfriend’s purse and earrings. I hope you somehow come across this message. I’d like to apologize.

I didn’t expect you to crap in your pants when I drew my pistol after you took my jacket. Truth is, I was wearing the jacket for a reason that evening, and it wasn’t that cold outside. You see, my girlfriend had just bought me that Kimber Model 1911 45-A-CP pistol for Christmas, and we had just picked up a shoulder holster for it that evening. Beautiful pistol, eh?

It’s a very intimidating weapon when pointed at your head, isn’t it? I know it probably wasn’t a great deal of fun walking back to wherever you’d come from with that brown sludge flopping about in your pants. I’m sure it was even worse since you also ended up leaving your shoes, cell phone, and wallet with me. I couldn’t have you calling up any of your buddies to come help you try to mug us again.

I took the liberty of calling your mother, or “Momma” as you had her listed in your cell, and explaining to her your situation. I also bought myself and four other people in the gas station this morning a tank full of gas on your credit card. The guy with the big motor home took 150 gallons and was extremely grateful! I gave your shoes to one of the homeless guys over by Vinnie Van Go Go’s, along with all of the cash in your wallet.

I threw the wallet in a fancy pink “pimp mobile” parked at the curb after I broke the windshield and side window out and keyed the drivers side. I called a bunch of phone sex numbers from your cell phone. They’ll be on your bill in case you’d like to know which ones. Ma Bell just shut down the line, and I’ve only had the phone for a little over a day now, so I don’t know what’s going on with that. I hope they haven’t permanently cut off your service.

I could only get in two threatening phone calls to the DA’s office and one to the FBI with it. The FBI guy was really ticked and we had a long chat (I guess while he traced the number).

I’d also like to apologize for not killing you and instead making you walk back home humiliated. I’m hoping that you’ll reconsider your choice of path in life. Next time you might not be so lucky.. – Alex

P.S. Remember this motto…..an armed society is a polite society!

Help your local animal shelter

This time of year there are always a lot of kittens and puppies at the shelter, but there are also a lot of adult cats and dogs being surrendered by owners and many are abandoned or dropped off because of the economy. People are being evicted and having their homes foreclosed and have no way to take care of the pets any more.

This really bothers me – I just don’t see how anyone in good conscience can abandon a pet. What kind of person leaves an animal locked in an empty house and drives off? What kind of person can drive down a road and just toss kittens out of the window into a stranger’s driveway? People who do that and people who beat their dogs or otherwise abuse their animals should be arrested and put into jail.

If you have a shelter in your community, next time you have the urge to take on a pet, I hope you will go to the shelter and adopt an animal from the shelter. And if you have anything you can donate to the shelter, here’s a list of desired items that can be dropped off and will be put into good use:

  • Clean, old newspapers to be used for litter and lining cages
  • Toilet seat covers (cats love to lie on them in their cages)
  • Any type of cat or dog toy (plastic or washable)
  • Old bath towels and blankets
  • Canned cat food, any brand
  • Bagged, dry dog food (particularly desired is Science Diet but other brands accepted)
  • Laundry soap
  • Bleach
  • Heavy ceramic food and water bowls
  • Antibacterial hand soap
  • Candles – citrus or spice
  • Paper towels

Shelters also need volunteers to come and walk dogs and play with the animals for short periods to give them exercise and socialization skills. If you have a good heart, please help the animals in your local shelter.

Letting go

Sometimes people come into your life and then leave it again. Learning to let go when they are gone can be difficult. It has taken me a long time to figure out how to do that. I believe that these people are sent into our lives to teach us something and when they leave us, it is because we have learned all that we could from them.

I have recently lost a friend, who just walked away over relative non-sense. I am not sure exactly what I was supposed to have learned from her, but I must have learned something. Perhaps it is just not to let too many people get close to me. I am not sure, but what I am sure of, is that eventually I will figure out what it is when the time is right.

sigh

I would really like for people to start being nice to each other. So many people are just plain mean. There is so much strife and drama in the world. Everyone just cares for themselves and no one else. If we cared more about our fellow man, the world would be a better place to live in. All we can do is hope that people realize what they are doing and make a change, even if it is only one person at a time.

A gift

My cousin came to visit this weekend and hadn’t seen the house since I have done so much work to it. She was amazed. She totally fell in love with the address plaque that I have next to the front door. She didn’t realize that address signs like that were so inexpensive and easy to get. I told her that I had ordered one for my parents house as well as mine. She really wants one badly.

I have decided to order one for her birthday. She will be so happy to have one on her house. If I had known that my family would like them so much, I would have bought them all one for Christmas. As it is the house address plaques will probably be birthday and Christmas presents this year as every one really likes them a lot. Who knew that the address plaques would make people so happy.
