This day couldn’t have been better if I had custom ordered it. A bunch of us got together and went to a local lake on a friend’s pontoon and had a blast. We fished, (I caught the biggest one) we played music, we laughed and we just had a great time. It wasn’t too hot and it wasn’t too cold. I’m telling you it was a perfect day. There’s nothing better than being on the water, sunshine, and good friends and I had it all today. I don’t get to go out without my children very often so it was a real treat but I have to admit. I ended up feeling guilty that I didnt bring them along. Mom let them play on the slip n slide in her back yard so they had a good time too.

Saturday again

I woke up this morning, looked at the clock, jumped out of bed because I was late for work and realized it was SATURDAY!!! I hate it when I do that. I haven’t done that since I was in middle school. My oldest just did that too.

She came home from school just before the end of school this year and had to read this boring stuff for English class and fell asleep. When she woke up, she looked at the clock and it was about a half hour after she normally got up to get ready for school and the sun was going down so it looked kinda like it would at that time of morning. Anyway, she jumped off the bed and took off to the bathroom to get ready for school and I had just sent her little brother to get her for dinner. He looked at her and said “What are you doing?” She looked at him like he was stupid or something and said “Getting ready for school, why?” Then he started laughing and told her that I had sent him to her room to tell her that dinner was ready. Yeah she felt real stupid about then but we all got a good laugh.

Make mine natural

I’m a big fan of natural things that help make you feel better, and many people already know about echinacea that comes from the purple coneflower. There will always be scientific debate over how effective these natural cures can be. Our ancesstors used natural cures and some do work just like some don’t but that’s true with medicines too,

I know from experimenting on myself that echinacea, astragalus and some types of mushrooms certainly kick in the immune system or mine anyway. They can also give you a yeast infection just like antibiotics though. So if you are the kind of person that keeps a bottle of echinacea in your medicine cabinet, I recommend adding some reishi and shitake mushrooms to the mix along with astragalus. That will help keep down the yeast infections.

That’s not a bill!!!

My daily mail usually consists of mainly an assorted junk mail and bills. So imagine my delight to find only one single piece of mail, all by it’s lonesome, sitting in my box this afternoon. It was almost like hitting the lottery when I realized this one piece of mail just so happened to be my tax rebate check. Now that I know how much it is, Ineed to do some serious thought on what is the best way to use this. I have to make it go as far as I possibly can and one things for sure, I will do that. School will start again before you know it and my children will all need a lot of things for that so this will help a great deal. It will also pay for a new comptuer too.

Buffet books

I didn’t know Jimmy Buffet wrote books along with some great music but he does. I always enjoyed the tropical type music that he is so well known for producing so when I heard that he has written some books lately, I couldn’t wait to find one. I was thrilled to find one of his books called “A Salty Piece of Land” at my favorite used book stores for only $2. I’ve really enjoyed reading it this past week. I’m glad that inside of the book it tells me the names of his other books that I will need to see if I can find too. I’m especially interesting in finding the one entitled “A Pirate Looks At Fifty”, if I can’t find it locally then I guess I could always look on-line and see if I can find it somewhere out there in cyber-world.

Online Coupons

Everything is getting harder and harder to afford. My poor beagle Belle is a part of our family but sometimes I’m not sure I can afford to keep her. I found all sorts of online coupons for not only dog products but everywhere you can imagine. All I was looking for was discount dog food and found discount everything. A lot of the coupons for the stores also include free shipping of the products you purchase. You save money with the coupon, you save on shipping and you save gas all at the same time.

Summer Squash

Friends like to give me vegetables out of their gardens to help me out. I love it too. My kids eat vegetables really good too. Someone gave me a bunch of squash with a recipe. I made it last night for dinner and we all loved it. You have to try this. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did. It’s New England Summer Squash:

2lb (6 Cups) Sliced Yellow Summer Squash
1/4 Cup Chopped Onion
1 Can Cream of Chicken Soup
1 Cup Sour Cream
1 Cup Shredded Carrots
1 8 oz Herb Seasoned Stove Top Stuffing Mix
1 cup Melted Butter

Boil Squash and onion for 5 minutes and drain. Combine chicken soup and sour cream. Stir in shredded carrots. Fold in squash and onions. Combine stuffing mix and melted butter. Use a 12 x 7 casserole dish. Put half of stuffing on the bottom of the pan, then the squash mixture and top with remaining stuffing. Bake at 350 degree for 25 – 30 minutes or until heated through. Serves 6

GPS

My mother gave me a GPS system for my car for Christmas last year. At first I wasn’t sure I wanted it but then the more I thought about it, the more I liked it. See, I work late at night some nights and my mother worries about me. She knows that all she has to do is go to her computer and she can see if my car is still at work, if I’m on the way home or if something is wrong because I’m not where I should be. That’s the part I wasn’t too sure about but I know Mom isn’t trying to check up on me, she’s just trying to watch out for me.

It came in handy last week too. I was on my way home about 11 pm and my cell phone was dead and I didn’t realize it. I got a flat tire. Mom knew I would be leaving about then and was watching me and saw that I had stopped. She sent her husband to me and I was never so glad to see someone in my life. He fixed my flat and we got home safely, thank goodness. I don’t go anywhere without it now.

Credit cards??

I need a credit card. I thought I could get by without one and have for years but now it’s time to start looking for the right card for my needs. There are so many out there that it’s hard to know which one is the right one for you. I found all the information I needed at cardhub.com. A friend told me they checked into them before they got their card. It has reviews of cards for gas companies, airlines, and any other card you see advertised on TV or see other places too. With their help, I’m sure I’ll get the right card for me.

Home needs improvement

I rent a house from my grandmother. I couldn’t afford a place of my own if my grandmother didn’t own it, between gas rising every day and what it costs to feed three kids, I would have to live with my mother but my grandmother loves me and knows I need some independence. She rents to me real cheep so when I have some extra money saved, I do a little home improvement here and there. I bought some really nice wallpaper online cheap and it looks great in the bathroom. It’s amazing at the home improvement sites you can find to help you make your house look great and save money too.
