We have dinner on our deck more than in the house. I came across some outdoor pillows that the kids can have to lay on the benches and be comfortable too. I have caught them asleep on the deck and had to bring them in so they didn’t get sun burned too because they are so comfortable.
Creative juices
My brother has a really large living room with lots of large pieces of furniture. He has several recliners and a very large sectional sofa. For several years I’ve been wishing that I had room for a sectional sofa in my smaller house, but I didn’t think it was possible until my best friend Suzie told me about a website that she found. She told me that you can design your own sectional furniture at ClubFurniture dot com. I just went onto that website and was pleasantly surprised to see a pretty good selection of sectional sofas with a chaise on the end for smaller spaces.
I think that I just might buy one of them! The sofa we have in our living room now is too large for the space, and doesn’t have a chaise. I love the idea of having a chaise on one end of the sofa – I love putting my feet up, and if we have a chaise section I could do that and still have room on the sofa for other people to sit!
Electric Blankets Are Great Inventions
I don’t know about you, but I have electric blankets on all of the beds at my house. I love my electric blanket – I use it a lot! Even with wool socks and sock liners on my feet, my feet are cold all of the time, and having an electric blanket on at night helps warm my feet so that I can sleep better. My bed is king sized, and the electric blanket I have now has two controls – one for each side. I like that a lot better than the first electric blanket I had with only one control! My husband was always too warm, and I was always too cold! The biggest complaint that I have about electric blankets is that I’m always afraid of washing them, and afraid of the wires shorting out and catching the blanket on fire! But I’ve had one for decades, and that has never happened, so I guess the engineers knew what they were doing when they designed them!
Recently I started to think about getting an electric blanket for my car (since I don’t have heated seats,) and found the perfect one that I want to get at the http://cozywinters.com/electric-blanket/ website. I’m sharing the YouTube video of it here on this post. I like how it can be folded up and turned into a neck or lumbar pillow when not in use for warming you up!
What a week
We buried Papa Charlie on the 7th. I had no idea that he was a Korean war veteran but he was. They draped a flag over his coffin and did the 21 gun salute to him too. The children are heart broken. It’s the first time they have really had to deal with death now that they are old enough to really understand. The first time was when the baby I had that died 4 years ago and that was a tough one too.
On the 8th I got a phone call from Papa Charlies lawyer. He asked me to come in for the reading of the will. I was totally confused because why would I have to be there? I had only known the man for a couple months. When I got there, I was the only one there other than the lawyer. I didn’t know that Papa Charlie didn’t have any other family at all. We were all he had.
Then the lawyer read the will. I almost went into shock. I just couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Papa Charlie was sort of a wealthy man and left everything to my children and me. He had college funds set up for each of my children. He gave us his house and set up enough money in a trust fund to pay the taxes, homeowners insurance and anything that needed fixing for the rest of my life. Then the house goes to the kids and would be sold and divided between all of them.
He also set up a college fund for me so I could quit work and go to college and be able to take care of myself and the children. I was to get a monthly ‘allowence’ also to cover food, utilities and anything else that we needed. I’m still trying to let all of this soak in. All of this from a gentle, kind man that we only knew for a few months. I feel so honored. God Bless you Charlie Benson!!!!
Need a new guitar bag
I am so angry at Shawn’s dog right now I could just scream! I have asked Shawn repeatedly to not let that dog roam around the house un-supervised when I am not at home. Do you think he would listen to me and honor my request? Yeah, right! That stupid dog has chewed up my guitar bag, so now I need to go online to see MF and try to get a new one delivered by the weekend. I don’t have the time to run into town to pick one up. I’m going to make Shawn pay for the new bag and the expedited delivery charge, too! I guess I should just be glad that the stupid dog didn’t ruin the guitar, too!
I need new faucets
This is a great house but some of the faucets need to be replaced. I have always known that Delta faucets are the best so why would I settle for anything else? After all, I don’t want to have to replace them again anytime soon and with them, I won’t have to. They have a good selection for kitchens and bathrooms. I may as well just see which faucets aren’t Delta and replace them while I’m at it.
Visiting my grandparents
I used to love to visit my grandparents house when I was a child. They had the most beautiful old grandfather clock I had ever seen. I loved to hear it chime. In fact, as a child, I would run into the sitting room where the grandfather clock was when it would start chiming just so I could hear it better. I loved that clock. My parents now have it and it will be mine to keep in my home when they are gone which I hope will be many years from now.
My sister loves the stars
I have a sister that is an astronomer. She loves nothing more than to spend hours looking at the stars. She loves the Catadioptric Telescopes because of their quality. I don’t know that much about things like that so I had to do a little research to find out which one to buy her for her birthday. I found all kinds of information and all kinds of telescopes at opticsplanet.net.
The good thing is that she has now gotten into bird watching too. She is an outdoor girl anyway and by accident, she was playing with her old telescope one day and found an eagles next across the water from her house. There was even a couple of babies in the nest too. She was absolutely thrilled and that’s what got her into bird watching too. The eagles return every year too.
Video taping the wild life out back
Ron was telling me that he thought that we were getting some undesirable night visitors lately, and he wants to buy a trail camera and install it to see what has been going on in the yard behind the house. He’s nervous about the black bears that our neighbors have spotted in their yards, and the feral pigs that have been spotted a few miles down the road. I suggested that before he just run out and buy a trail camera, that he read some Trail Camera Reviews to determine which one will do the job he wants done. There is no point in buying something that doesn’t fit your needs!
Maintain your septic system to avoid problems
In the small town of Seaford Delaware, there is a lot of rural areas. Many people have septic systems rather than city sewage. For those who do, it is important to know how to keep your septic system up and know the signs of trouble you may encounter. There are four ” Red Flags” that you should be aware of that could spell trouble for your system.
- If you haven’t had your septic tank cleaned or inspected in two to three years, you could have a problem and be unaware of it.
- If you have standing water or mushy areas in your yard, then your drain field is not draining properly
- Backed up or slow toilets are a clear sign that you probably need to have the tank drained
- That “nasty” smell you cannot identify is probably your septic overflowing or backing up.
If you haven’t had your septic inspected, or have noticed any of these problem areas, then you need to look up seaford septic tank cleaning and take care of this right away. There are many companies to choose from, and you can get estimates over the phone most of the time. Occasionally, they will want to look and then let you know what you are dealing with.
There are ways to keep your tank in good “health” with a few simple products that will keep it from clogging or backing up. You can start with the simplest product available. A product with bacteria or yeast is safe for your system and will help keep if clear longer. Do NOT use chemical additives as they can damage your tank and/or your lines, this goes as well for chemical clog removers. Hot water or a drain snake are the best things to use to clear a clog from your pipes.
There are two different kinds of filters that can help keep your tank in good health. One is a filter that attaches to the drain line of your washing machine. This will help keep lint from getting into the septic tank and clogging it up. The filter should be cleaned at regular intervals. You can also put a filter on the exit side of the tank. This will keep solid material from getting into your drain field. You can also use a different kind of bleach, called oxygen bleach to help keep food and dirt from getting into your tank. All of these products are available at your local Seaford stores.
There are certain jobs that you should not attempt to tackle on your own as you well know. You don’t attempt to fix electrical problems, especially those anywhere near the main breaker box. You don’t take on major plumbing problems and you should NEVER try to repair or clean your septic tank yourself. The gases inside a septic tank are highly toxic and can kill you very quickly. A professional should always be consulted for any septic system work that needs to be done. Regular maintenance and inspections will keep your system healthy so you won’t have any problems arise.
