Would you believe a friend of mine suggest I sign up for one of those online dating services? I now question what kind of friend he is. But then he started telling me that he met his wife online. I couldn’t believe it. I thought they met through a friend. She’s a really sweet person and they both sat me down and told me that now they do better at screening who signs up for them. You know, I might give it a try. Maybe, maybe not.
A Harrowing Sight
Last night I was driving home from my friend Elaine’s house and was very surprised to see three skunks in the middle of the road! The sun had set, and I was driving down one of those narrow country roads that have no stripes down the middle, or sides, and no street lights to improve visibility. There were no houses in sight, and the road was twisting and turning. I had just gone around a very sharp “hairpin” turn and saw the skunks walking, on “my” side, head to tail – like you would see elephants on parade! They all appeared to be the same size, so I couldn’t tell if they were a mother skunk leading her babies across the road or not.
When my headlights hit them, I braked as quick as I could, and started to steer the car away from the direction they were walking. Uttering a silent prayer “please, Lord, don’t let me hit these skunks” I tensed up and held my breath. I was SURE that I was going to hear that horrible “thunk” that would confirm that my evasive actions were inadequate. But no thunk came. And no skunk perfume wafted up at me. I let out a sigh of relief, and looked in my rear view mirror to see if I could see the skunks, but the darkness of the night had already enveloped the threesome. They were gone from sight. I offered up a silent “thank you Lord” and started to breathe normally again. But I kept my eyes sharply peeled for any other wildlife that might decide to cross the road as I continued my journey home. Thankfully that was the most exciting part of the trip.
Although I marveled at seeing the three skunks walking nose-to-tail like that, I hope to never see a sight like that again while driving in a car! And now I can’t get that song “Dead skunk in the middle of the road” out of my head! Maybe after watching this YouTube video about the song will help me get over it quicker!
Saving on groceries
I read an article on MSN Money central about feeding a family on $100 a week. If I spent that much a week on food, I wouldn’t be able to pay all the other bills before now so I’m used to being tight with groceries.
There are better way to save money on food than they talk about. I buy a lot of chicken and hamburger but we still eat well. We have a little garden and Grandpa has a big garden so we home can and freeze a lot of vegetables so we don’t have to buy that many vegetables. Mom is great at making different things with the same old meats. You just have to find recipes that everyone likes and use your imagination a little. I’ve learned to be a pretty good cook from trial and error mostly, and a lot of help from Mom.
Using coupons helps a lot, too. I have a “coupon-swapping” friend, Joann, and we try to get together at least twice a month to trade coupons. I enjoy catching up with her, and we always find we save a lot of money by swapping off the coupons that we clip from the papers.
Community Service Clubs VA
My good friend has become involved in a community service club va recently, and she has been on an emotional roller-coaster ride ever since. It would seem that even though the club she joined told her that they needed certain types of help, and said that they knew that they needed to change, and asked her for help, when she provided that help, and produced what they needed, they quickly realized how inept they must look and became quite jealous over the success of my friend’s efforts!
So they started to treat her very badly, and she went and complained to one of the “higher muckity-mucks” of the club, who quickly made arrangements to try to get her promoted to a position out of that club, so she could help MORE clubs with her efforts than just that one club.
She has been promoted to a better position, and although she still has to deal with the original club, and their disagreeable antics, the other clubs in the Community Service VA organization have been quite complimentary about all of the hard work and efforts that she has been doing to help the clubs with their goals.
She even recently learned how to convert a power-point presentation and turn it into a video and upload it to YouTube, all to promote the Community Service Club VA!
Everyone in the organization that saw the video commented on how much they liked it, although the actual club it is promoting didn’t do so much as to grunt an acknowledgement!
So much for Goodwill!
But most of the rest of the 24 clubs in her District seem to like her, so most of the time she is feeling appreciated, and that is a good thing.
Breakfast meeting
Anyone who knows me will tell you that I am not a morning person. I do not wake up perky and ready to run. It takes me a while to shuffle around, make a pot of coffee, dress, walk the dogs and after all that I slowly become human.
So when Linda Bradshaw told me the only time she had available to see me while she was in town this week for her convention would be a breakfast meeting, I almost said, “No.” But, she is a friend from back in the day who I have kept in touch with by email and occasional phone call. I really want to see her while she is here, even if only for an hour at breakfast. So tomorrow, I will be a forced -into-early-pleasantness person and choke down some hotel hotel eggs and bacon so I can have an hour of quality time with my girlfriend.
Letting go
There are times in your life when you just have to let go of the people who create all of that drama and chaos. I had to do this recently and it really hurts to do it. I am going to miss my friend tremendously, but after all of these years, she just refuses to grow up. When you have kids, life is not one big party. It’s responsibility, it’s teaching by example, it’s love and commitment to the life you brought into the world. I will miss you and I will miss your son, but I just can’t watch the train wreck of your life anymore. smh
Need a limo
Okay so I flew down to Tampa to spend a couple of days with an old friend and go to a concert. We decided to find a st petersburg fl limo service to take us to and from the concert. We planned on drinking at the concert and no one wanted to be the designated driver, so we hired one. We had a blast at the concert and were responsible as far as driving goes. Yay for us!
Sending Some Hcg to My Girl
I am sending some of these hcg drops to my girlfriend in California. When she found out exactly how well they were working for me, she got really excited and wants to try it out and see how it works for her. Since she doesn’t make a lot of money, I am being nice and helping her out with them. It really doesn’t take much to help a friend in need and she is a really good friend. There was a time when she helped me out when I was having some serious problems and I am happy to return the favor. I hope they work as well for her as they have for me.
Give me a good reason
When people act stupid and then expect you to just forget about it, well that annoys the hell out of me. An apology is in order when you act like a child. You know you were wrong, so be a good friend and say your sorry, before you expect forgiveness. I apologize when I mess up. Why can’t you? I love you, so please grow up and act like a mature, responsible adult. Thank you so much.
