Busy busy

Gosh I have been so busy lately, that I don’t know if I am coming or going. It seems like all I do is run errands and take care of sick kids. I really wish the schools would clean better, because I am tired of these kids coming down sick. Between the doctors visits, trips to the pharmacy, trips to the store for more supplies and then the normal stuff as well, I am surprised that I haven’t gotten sick from being run down. It really isn’t easy to take care of all of this stuff. Sometimes, I wish I had a regular job and someone else stayed at home to take care of it all. Ah well, it is what it is.

Kids

I have a son who thinks that he can get one little bump at school and I will come running to pick him up every time. Last week he fell at recess and I had to take him for x-rays. Today he calls and says someone tackled him, but his teachers and the office staff all say there is nothing wrong with him. He is flat driving me crazy with this. He says nothing is wrong at school, but doesn’t want to stay. I guess I am going to have to sit him down and have a serious talk with him about “crying wolf”, because it is not a good ting for him to be doing.

This child is a hot mess

I love him unbelievably, ad he keeps my in stitches of laughter constantly. He does some of the silliest stuff. Last night as I was cooking dinner, he came and asked me what was for dinner.
Me; food.
Child; What kind of food?
Me; The kind you eat.
Child; What kind of food you eat?
Me; Liver and onions.
Child; Yay! Yummy to my tummy!, and then he skips away.

Never in a million years would I ever have thought that I would hear such words out of a child’s mouth. Ya gotta love em!

Lots of errands

Gosh I had a lot of errands to do today. I had to got to like five different stores to get everything done and make a trip to the dump on top of it. I had to go to the tobacco store for a carton of cigs, then to the Co-Op for de-wormer for the dog. After that I hit the dump on the way to the Dollar and grocery stores. I know that I went somewhere else too, but for the life of me I cannot remember what the other place was. I know that sounds bad, but all I can do is laugh a little bit about it. I think the kids have sucked all of the brain cells I had left out with each birth, not to mention the raising of them. Oh well, I guess it doesn’t matter. I think I got everything done I needed to. Now am doing laundry, cooking dinner and working in between the two. Talk about multi tasking.

The saxophone

My son has decided he wants to play the saxophone. He has listened to jazz and the blues with me all of his life and has fallen in love with the sound. My dad used to play the sax and that is also a factor as well. I told my father about it and he has offered his old sax to my son to use. I have to look up Morgan mouthpieces because that has to be changed first, but it shouldn’t be too difficult to find.

Not sure how to handle this

Apparently the girls next door are being really nasty to my kids. I have forbidden them to come over and told my kids to just stay away from them. Unfortunately, I can’t discuss this with their parents because there really nasty people too. Any overtures will be escalated into a fight that could end up involving the police. I feel sorry for those girls because they come from a really messed up family, but I am tired of the drama. To top that off, ever since they changed the kids bus driver there has been nothing but problems.

I guess I am going to have to talk to the bus driver myself, although she has to know that I have been trying to get her moved off of this bus. I am pretty sure it will be a pointless conversation. I will try this afternoon though. After that, I will go make a formal complaint at the school board. If they do not do something, then I will call the media and get them involved. I have had enough of this. I don’t see what the difficulty is, in making sure these girls stay away from my kids on the  bus.

Missed the bus

I didn’t sleep very well last night and consequently, the kids missed the bus this morning. I got one of them up, and went back to sleep. Big mistake. I usually doze after the first ones get up, because one has to shower in the morning. He prefers it that way. The youngest doesn’t have to be up for another forty five minutes so I have a little time to kill. With very little sleep last night, I didn’t get back up in time and had to take the kids to school. That was fun….not.

First when I went outside, I slid in the mud and knee planted in the middle of a stepping stone. That hurt and still does. I am hoping that it doesn’t swell up. Then because it is raining, I had to drive in the rain which I hate. I got one to school on time the others, were slightly late. I don’t understand why the schools have to be so far apart. It’s really irritating. Tomorrow, I will make sure I am not too late getting them up for school. I hate it when they miss the bus. Note to self; go to bed earlier tonight and get some sleep.

Spaghetti for dinner

I think we will have spaghetti for dinner. The kids always love it and it doesn’t take a lot of prep time since I am not making it from scratch today. I will add a tossed salad and some garlic bread on the side and that will do. My eldest child loves to make salads, so I will let him. He really makes a great salad and adds all kinds of stuff. Sometimes, I have to stop him from putting too much. I am teaching him, what ingredients go well in a side salad, based on what you are eating as the main course.

With spaghetti, I like a spinach or ceasar salad for the most part. Sometimes, arugula salad is good with it as well. For tonight, I believe I have the makings for a spinach salad with sprouts, bacon bits, boiled egg, shredded cheese and croutons. I know that there is a lovely raspberry vinaigrette  dressing in there to go on it as well. Knowing my son, he will find a couple of other things to throw in it too. That is the beauty of teaching the kids not just to cook but to create. Now I am really hungry just thinking about it.

Movie night

Last night was movie night. We watched two movies, one for the kids and one for the adults after the kids went to bed. The first one was The Lorax. It was a cute movie about saving the environment from corporate greed. I really liked it because of the parallel with the reality of today’s corporate society. Don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of companies that are trying very hard to run their companies and preserve the environment as well, but there are a lot that do not do anything at all. Their footprint on our planet is much too large, but enough about that.

The second movie we watched was Loopers with Bruce Willis. It was a really good movie that was about hit men and time travel. Time travel was outlawed in the future, but the organized crime syndicates would use it to send people back in time that they wanted killed. Someone in the past would be there when the person arrived and kill them. However, at one point the person they had to kill from the future would be their future self. They would receive a large payment and be retired from service to live the next thirty years as they see fit. As you can imagine, one of the future selves gets away and pandemonium ensues.

This is a great picture of the Golden Gate Bridge. I went to San Francisco once when I was a kid. I really enjoyed the trip and seeing all of the sights. I think that perhaps I should take my kids there sometime. I know that they will like it. If we go that far, we could go to Washington State or Oregon and see the whales as well. I know that they would love that.
