You know you are seriously broke when you have to scrounge change to buy some groceries. I am so upset over this. I have no clue how I ended up this broke this week. I stayed to my budget and still somehow this happened. I don’t think my check was as much as it usually is. I have to check it as soon as I can. Until then, I am stuck at home with nothing to do.
Green
After extensive research and talking, I do believe the hubby and I are going to go solar. The rising costs of energy are taking it’s toll on every side of us. Add to that raising children who require that lots of energy be used to care for them and it gets even higher. There are so many programs to choose from or you can do it yourself. Solar is made easy with those who actively decide to do it. I have been watching this turn in society grow exponentially over the past ten years. When people first stared going solar, everyone either looked at them like they were nuts, or said it was cool and expensive.
That is so not the case now. Solar has been getting cheaper and cheaper over the years and quite frankly smarter now then ever before. The move to green energy is becoming like a snowball effect, gathering momentum and growing bigger and bigger. The time has come for us to join in and do our part to help the energy crisis as well as help ourselves in the process. I am looking forward to the change and I hope I can convince my family to follow me.
Big trucks
Well a big truck missed his turn and took out the CBU mailboxes we use to get our mail. This isn’t the first time this has happened. The last time they were taken out was because of a really bad storm. Now on top of the normal routine I have everyday that is completely exhausting, I have to add a trip to the post office until they are replaced. Our cbu mailbox was pretty much brand new and now we have to replace it. I am annoyed by this.
I hope that it doesn’t happen again this year, because commercial cluster mailboxes can be expensive if they have to be constantly replaced. At least we have a good company that we get them from. It shouldn’t take long for them to have the new one up and ready to use, probably only about a week. I really shouldn’t complain that much. I guess I am just used to my routine.
Money
I hate to stress over money. My man is having problems with his job and it is stressing me out. His boss can’t keep him with forty hours a week and he would probably make more money on unemployment. Add to that the fact that my man is being very closed mouth about what is going on. He hasn’t been to work all week and will not tell me if he quit already or his boss just doesn’t have any work this week. Usually he tells me everything, but not right now. That is jacking my stress level up to over load. Ready to pop a vein right now. grr
Harassment
Stop collection harassment California residents by using a reputable law firm like the one that my brother found for his problem. He was having a problem with a collection on an old debt that he didn’t even know that he had. I believe it was from around the time he was in college and all of a sudden these people began calling day and night at all hours. They woke up his children and wife in the middle of the night and even called him at his job on numerous occasions.
Fortunately, his boss is very understanding and even recommended the firm my brother used to get rid of the offending collectors. I was appalled at the tactics these people used to try and get money from him. As it turned out, he had already taken care of the debt back in the late 90’s, and my mother was able to find the paper work for it because she never throws anything away. Thank God for that. He ended up suing the debt collectors and even got money in compensation for their harassment. They were charged by the state and convicted as well. So if you want to stop harassment for good, call a good attorney and talk to them about it. Let these collectors know that they cannot get away with these kind of tactics.
Waiting for my tax check
The IRS is so slow this year. We are still waiting for my check weeks later. I know that it is faster than previous years because it used to take a lot longer for people to get their checks. It is really annoying because the IRS told me it would be faster than this. I have a few bills that need to be paid off and then I am purchasing a new truck and laptop as well as a phone. Then I am spending money on my kids. They have earned a few new things with good grades an doing chores as they are supposed to. Hurry up IRS. grrrr
Danged XBox
I am so glad I bought insurance on the XBox. It is freezing up while you play the game and then you lose all of your progress in the game. If you have been playing for a while then you will lose a lot of progress. I bought it refurbished to save money, but made sure to buy a years worth of insurance just to be safe. When you have children it is a must with any kind of electronics. Especially game systems that run for hours on end. Time to hit gamestop.
How exciting
My friend Cherise just got a new job working for a chemical investment banking company. They have offices in New York, London and Shanghai. She will have to learn more about the company itself by working at each office. Cherise will start out in the New York office learning the chemical mergers and acquisitions there first. She is so excited about this opportunity and her hiring package is to die for. She and I were in business school together and this particular job would scare me silly. It is so advanced in business and banking that I am not sure I would ever be able to understand it myself. I mean we are talking about mergers and acquisitions for countries not just for corporations. Investments for places like China, that will bring prosperity to the country. That is indeed a complex job to have.
Chemical M&A is totally devoted to the chemical industry. Ironically enough they haven’t been hit as hard as other industries with the economic crisis that is global not just centered here in the US. They were able to restructure just enough to slide through without a dent to their market. I find that amazing considering the push for so many countries and corporations to go green. I am curious how exactly they managed to do it and I am impressed with their business acumen that got them through something that has bankrupted so many others. I wish the best of luck to Cherise and her new career. I will miss her when she goes on to London and then Shanghai, but I know that she will be home to visit as often as possible.

More work on the house
Well the remodeling is gong very well. The bathroom looks great and I am considering having some other work done as well. The basement is just an ordinary basement, but it is very large. There is a lot of unused space that would be great as a rec room. If I have the washer and dryer moved to corner and enclose that as a laundry room, I can finish the walls, add carpeting and possibly a half bathroom for a nice rec room.
My fiance has some large table games stored down there that can be set up for everyone to enjoy. A Foosball table could go in one corner, with the pool table on the other side. I have a friend who is purchasing new furniture, so I could take the old couches off of her hands and use them down here as well. All I would have to really buy would be a new TV and that is not very difficult. Our taxes will be in soon and we can afford it right now.
The kids would have their own space to play video games and play with their friends without being under foot all the time. It opens into the back yard as well, so it would be great for parties and holidays too. I think I will talk to my honey tonight when he gets home and see what he thinks.
