My house

I am still fixing up the outside of my house. I want it to look really nice, because I think it has been the shabbiest house on the block. Not that it is from me, because I just bought it and have been continuously renovating since I got it. I had to start on the inside and have gotten a lot done that I wanted. Anyway, I ordered custom address plaques for the front of the house and the side drive. It was really hard to choose exactly what I wanted, so I ended up buying two different ones.

The first is a bronze address plaques for the front of the house next to the door. I has the house number and street on it. The second one is for the end of the side driveway. I live on a corner lot, so the house sits on two streets. It is easier to get here from the other street, so I put custom address plaques there for people to find easier. I am very happy with it and it makes the house and yard look so much better.

My TV

Well I have been unhappy with my cable company lately. The package just really isn’t what I wanted and doesn’t have nearly enough channels for what I am paying for it. I am seriously thinking about direct tv for my home. I am hoping that the channel line up will be better then the cable one is. I have a lot of research to do into it, but I am confident that they must be better than what I have. I asked my brother what he thinks and he said it was always worth a shot. I can agree with that.

The dx3 direct tv I looked up seemed really good, but I haven’t called as of yet to see. I am still doing a bit of research online. I really want to be sure before I make any commitments. There is always a contract now a days for all kinds of stuff, even my cable. I need to know if this is so for satellite as well. I can see on www.dx3.net what I need to know as far as that is concerned. The call really shouldn’t take much time out of my day as most companies are rather efficient that way. I will call just as soon as I finish up work.

Good idea

I really love this idea. I sent the picture to my mom and she really likes it a lot too. I think I am going to do this in my living room and I know that it is going to look awesome. Mom is going to help me with pictures, as I want really good ones. This is a great way to show off my family.

Country music

I used to watch music videos very rarely. I used to watch MTV when I was in high school and enjoyed any kind of video. However, ever since we got satellite TV from www.expertsatellite.com, I watch country music videos pretty frequently. The other day, my son and daughter, who are both toddlers, were dancing to the music video for the song that says “Country girl shake it for me.” I was laughing so hard and luckily I was able to catch it with our video camera. It is so funny to me to watch kids dance because I always think about the fact that they learned their dance moves from someone. My husband was mildly concerned when I showed him the video of our kids dancing because he thinks that they should not be listening to that kind of music. I told him that country music is pretty clean and that I would much rather they dance to country music than rap music, or even rock music. Either way, they looked pretty cute dancing in front of the TV.

What a storm

Wow, last nights storm as raging. It knocked over trees all over the neighborhood. We are really lucky one didn’t fall on our house. Our mailbox got crushed though. I guess I will have to order a new one. The kids were a little frightened last night, but the storm passed by quickly and they were able to fall asleep fast. What kind of mailbox should I get this time? Residential mailboxes can actually be fun if you like to shop.

I haven’t decided whether I should get designer mailboxes or one of the victorian mailboxes. I am thinking about ordering two of them, just in case. We get some really bad storms during the springtime that consist of high level straight line winds and tornadoes. I usually have to replace the mailbox once a year because of them. It might be prudent to just order an extra one, so I don’t have to worry about it later. This storm season started very early and is going to be a long one I think.

Totally redone

My brother owns his own contracting company and I haven’t been to his office in a long time. I really haven’t had a reason to go over that way, but he has been raving about the new look for his office, so I went to see what all the fuss was about. It was amazing. I totally love what he did with it. He found these stainless steel tiles to use on the walls about halfway up and then put glass block above that. I didn’t even know they made stainless steel tiles. I honestly didn’t believe him when he said that he had put them in. I thought he was pulling my leg.

I wonder if I could incorporate that into my kitchen somewhere? Maybe I could put it as the back of the stove. You ladies know what I am talking about. That wall behind your stove that gets all of the splatter from cooking is what I am thinking about changing. Stainless steel tile would really look good there and would be so easy to clean and I wouldn’t have to worry about scrubbing paint off the wall when I clean it. I am going to love that.

Storage for mom

When mom found out that I had gotten a storage unit to put all the over flow from the house into it, she decided that she wanted one too. She looked at Bronx self storage units first and liked them a lot, but they were a little farther away than she wanted. Dad is happy that she is clearing out a lot of stuff from their garage. He likes to work in there and all the decorations and such over the years as kind of taken over his guy space.

I told her to look at Brooklyn storage or Richmond storage as they are both closer to her house. Dad just called and is already planning to do a lot of stuff to his garage. He is going to turn it back into his little work shop, now that he will have the room to do it. I know that he is ecstatic about it, because he keeps calling me to tell me everything he is going to do.

No more space

Well I had to rent a storage unit because there was just no more space right now at the house. When you have a lot of kids, you need a lot of space, not just for living but for storage as well. Albuquerque self storage units are exactly what I need for all of the extra stuff that is over flowing my house. There are Christmas decorations for indoors and outdoors as well as Halloween and all of the other holidays. The kids just love to decorate, so I have picked up quite a lot of stuff for just that.

There is also the storing of winter and summer clothes at the appropriate times of year as well. After all, kids require a lot of clothing. I also do hand me downs on clothes that are still serviceable as well, so those have to be stored for later use. I looked around at Las Vegas storage and Riverside storage as well before deciding on where to go. I found what I needed though and I am very happy now.

A few things for the house

I decided to buy a few things for the house. I like to entertain during the summer months with BBQ’s and such. Therefore, I am getting a few of the things that are on my wish list for this years summer season. The first is a set of linon 24 inch blackmetal swival chair for the bar I found at a garage sale a couple of months ago. The extra chairs will allow for more seating as well as adding a nice visual for the back porch.

I want a 3-gallon beverage dispenser with cooling cylinder for behind the bar as well. Then I can use it for half kegs of drinks for my parties. A beverage dispenser with cooling cylinder makes it so I don’t have to keep buying loads of ice for every entertainment and if there is left over it wont get hot later on because there will be no melted ice.

Maybe a tiki hut

Maybe I should put up a Tiki Hut for outdoor entertainment and us to use by the pool. It doesn’t have to be really big, but I like the thatch look. It is exotic like a tropical island and reminds me of trips I have taken to the Keys in Florida. I remember one trip to a place called Holiday Isle. We had a blast. There were bands on the weekend, one playing reggae and another playing Jimmy Buffett style music. It was an amazing vacation. We had dinner at a restaurant that was the largest seafood buffet I have ever seen. Almost everywhere we went had those little tiki huts, even indoors.

The bamboo matting was really neat and actually kept you dry if it rained. I inquired then about those little huts, because I had it in mind to build one in my back yard at the time. I think it is time to get around to that. I can make a little tropical oasis in the back yard with plants that will thrive even in the winter and some that I can put in pots to be moved indoors later.
