My friend Penny called and asked if I’d like to go shopping with her on Saturday. I guess I cannot put off shopping for Christmas much longer. I have to ship a few gifts this year, so I’ll buy those on Saturday with Penny and get those wrapped, boxed and mailed. Guess I need to make a list – and check it twice! lol
Time to decorate the house
Well it is that time again. Time to decorate inside and outside the house.
This year we are building a nativity scene for the front lawn. We sat down last night and drew out our plans for the entire thing and made a list of materials we will need.
I am also going to purchase new out door lights for the yard and house. This will be a big adventure for us and we are all looking forward to it.
I am pretty sure this project will take longer then the kids think it will, but we will have fun with it.
Tired from Cooking
Wow – I’ve been on my feet since 8 o’clock this morning cooking all kinds of food for Thanksgiving dinner and I’m really tired. I needed to take a 20 minute break and get off my feet, check emails, and throw the ball for my poor neglected dogs. The dogs are very happy to have me in the kitchen – they get lots of scraps and anything I drop on the floor is cleaned up immediately by at least one grateful dog.
We’ll have dinner at 8:00 tonight and I’m already hungry. It will just be six of us at the table, but that’s plenty! Hope you have a nice Thanksgiving and eats lots of good food today.
Honoring our Veterans Today
This poster was made for Veteran’s Day last year, but I still like it. If I had a way to change the date I would have it say 2011. But it is a good poster and I like sharing it, even if the date is wrong.
Early Start for the Weekend
Everyone I know has a three day weekend because of the Labor Day Holiday giving them Monday off from work. But I’m extra lucky because I have off today. That means I have a four day weekend, and I intend to make the most of every minute. See you on the Lake!

Fool Me Once . . .
There is this great saying about taking advantage of people:
Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me.
I have tried to keep that in mind over the years. I do like to trust people and give them every benefit of the doubt, but there are so many scams and con artists out there now, I have to be careful and protect myself, too.
I was just thinking this saying was very appropriate for today, since it is April Fool’s Day and I know someone people are going to try to pull some jokes on me today. At least this is harmless fun.
Serious About a Diet
I have GOT to lose a few pounds. I am serious this time. I want to look nice this summer and I have to buy a new bathing suit. So I am going to lose 15 pounds before Memorial Day and I am going to look GREAT when I hit the beach! That is only 5 pounds per month between now and then – I just know I can do this!
Welcome 2011
Snow Storms
We all enjoyed a white Christmas, here in Tennessee. In fact about every state East of the Mississippi had the promise of snow on Christmas Day. For us, it was the first white Christmas in 17 years.
But now the northeast is having a terrible blizzard. The airports have been canceling flights and there are tens of thousands of holiday travelers who are stranded in cities experiencing heavy snowfall, with no other way home.
On the other hand, I commend the airlines for taking every precaution to ensure the safety of their passengers and crews in bad weather. This is a huge inconvenience for travelers, but there are lessons to be learned, as well.
