I am making a Cuban pork tonight with red beans and rice. I love Cuban food and wish I could get some real Cuban bread where I live but that is just not possible. My cousin lives in Miami and whenever I go visit her, I indulge in massive amounts of Cuban food. Of course she is married to a Cuban man, so her in laws always are there and bring lots of food when I visit. They have taught me to make a few things here at home that are easy to do. I can’t wait for dinner to be ready. Yum!
Back to the store
I hate it when I go grocery shopping for the week and then have to go back, because I forgot a main ingredient for whatever I am making for dinner, then it becomes a rush rush on dinner. My days are full of kids and work and planning and preparation, that when it gets a little off because of something everything get thrown off. It is so unbelievably annoying.
New spice rack
I am so happy. I bought a new spice rack for my kitchen. My old one just seemed to fall apart. I seem to be a bit hard on my spice racks for some reason, but to be honest, I do a lot of cooking. I have a large family and we get together a lot on the weekends. I am constantly cooking food for one family get together or another. Add my friends get together’s and I am always in the kitchen.
You would think that kitchen spice racks would hold up better then they have, but maybe this new one from a different company will. I certainly hope so. Then again, I have kids and they like to cook for themselves sometimes too. That is actually how the last one broke. My new one is made of stainless steel, so I am confident that it will last a long while. I have instructed the children to be more careful of course, but then I do that all the time and it usually doesn’t help much. They are a rowdy bunch.
Crowded with Easter Shoppers
I have a bad feeling that when I get to the grocery store this afternoon it will be extra crowded because of Easter. I know that a lot of people like to have a big dinner on Easter Sunday, and so do I.
Most of the time I do the cooking and go all out with the big meal. We get a half ham – I make sure to get the butt end and not the shank – and then we have all kinds of side dishes and desserts. But this year my sister in law says that she wants to cook and the deal is that if I go do the shopping, that she will do the cooking.
That sounds great to me1 I’d love to have a day off from cooking and cleaning and just enjoy myself for a change. I’m really looking forward to Easter – now I just have to deal with the crowds at the grocery store and buy all the food for tomorrow’s dinner.
Big order
Well, I had to order more supplies for my cousins hotel. I am the one who does his books and such. It is a part time thing to help him out since his wife died and he is now a single dad. They have a hotel franchise and I spend at least two days a week in the office there. This week was order week. The Hotel Bathroom Supplies & Restaurant Supply Company that we order from is great though and I never have a problem with our orders. You would not believe the amount of stuff that I had to get though.
I needed Hotel Product Supplies & Catering Supplies for both the hotel and the restaurant that is attached to it. Technically we don’t own the restaurant, but I do the ordering for it as well. PeachSuite Wholesale Hotel Supply & Restaurant Equipment Company are really good to me. I never have a problem with their products or the ordering process. I have even made a few friends there as well over the time I have been helping my cousin.
Should have stayed in bed
Really, I should have stayed in bed this morning. I barely dragged myself out of bed this morning and was late to boot. I didn’t get up until 6:30 and I was supposed to be up by 6:15. Then I didn’t have any creamer for my coffee and decided to say to heck with it. I went to my favorite breakfast buffet and the danged food was cold and hard. Today has not started very well.
A glass of wine
There is nothing better than a glass of wine after a grueling day and today was one of those days. It started at four thirty this morning with a dog acting up and continued until just a little while ago. I am not even sure it is over as far as that goes, but one can only hope. The kids are being great though and dinner is cooking. I finally have a few moments to myself to unwind and relax some. I am thinking about taking a nice long bubble bath after dinner and bringing my wine with me for good measure. Calgon take me away!
This is good
Oh the kids are going to be so happy. I ordered the most delicious looking cheesecake online and it just came in. They absolutely love this stuff. We have made our own from time to time, because you all know how much we like to cook and bake, but this is amazing. Cheesecake is definitely a favorite in our house. I have found lots of recipes online that we have tried over the years. I think the internet is the best thing ever invented. There is nothing you cannot find online.
This cheesecake is a gourmet one with different flavors. It is huge too. I bet it last for a week or more before it is all eaten, even the kids will have a hard time with it. I may take a couple of pieces over to my elderly neighbor. She is such a nice old lady and doesn’t have a lot of family nearby. I try to spend a little time with her whenever I can and so do the kids. I have the greatest kids.
Coupon clubs
All of my friends are now doing coupon clubs. They trade coupons, clip coupons and print out coupons constantly. They save thousands of dollars a year doing it and manage to get so much stuff for free its unbelievable. I have decided that it is time for me to do so as well. Yesterday, my friend Tracy got ten tubes of toothpaste for free, as well as a lot of other stuff, and only spent about seventeen dollars. That is a big deal. She told me that I can find eastbay.com coupons here on this site.
Now I am joining the different coupon clubs she has recommended to me like the find eastbay.com deals here one she sent me. I will recommend all the sites she gives me to anyone who wants to save money. In today’s economy we have to save wherever we can, because inflation has gotten so high. It is very difficult for some people to make ends meet with the prices as they are. A gallon of milk costs more then a gallon of gas half the time and gas is so expensive now too. I have friends who have given up the second vehicle for their family because of it.
I can only hope that anyone who want to find eastbay.com deals here does so and make their lives a little easier because of it. It is already making a difference in my life even though I have just started to do this. My friends call it extreme couponing. I think that is a great name for it myself. After all, when u only spend fifty dollars for two hundred dollars worth of stuff that is extreme. Give it a try and see how well you do. It certainly cannot hurt to try it.
I have been able to buy a lot of stuff I normally cannot afford. I no longer have to shop at the discount stores all the time, because I can go to the regular grocery stores and spend less money by using coupons and the sales they are having together. It is amazing how easy this is. My kids are much happier now as well, since I can get them all the snacks they want as well as stock up on other products we use. All you need is a little time and effort to be successful in this endeavor. Have a great day.
I love Chinese food
I went to the China Star for lunch and bought dinner at lunch prices. This way we could all eat Chinese without spending too much money. The lunch special is only $4.95 per person and comes with fried rice, one egg roll and a free soda. The kids really don’t eat all of a lunch special let alone a dinner plate from there so it works out for me and everyone gets to pick whatever they want. You can’t beat that with a stick.
