My son is making breakfast this morning. We are having pancakes. I bought one of those add water and shake bottles of pancake mix and he can do it all by himself. He loves to cook and pancakes are one of his absolute favorites. Of course I keep one eye on him, because he is only ten, but he does really well. He will be a wonderful cook one day.
Drats
I broke a nail this morning making coffee. Don’t ask me how I could possibly break a nail making coffee, but I did. I have had a long struggle with my nails. I used to bite them when I was younger and they are not very strong. They are getting better all the time though since I quit biting them. I try to keep polish on them to help keep them from breaking, but that doesn’t always work. I am going to have to re-paint them later, however I have to wait until I am done working on the computer. Nail painting and typing do not mix well.
I think I will go with a nice bronze color today. Something with a little sparkle in it too. I much prefer polish with a little sparkle in it.
Fire roasted veggies
I love to fire roast my veggies before I put them into the sauce when I make spaghetti.I am making home made from scratch spaghetti tomorrow and need to make a trip to the store for my fresh veggies. I will put in onion, mushrooms, pepper, garlic and zucchini. It is going to be amazing. I haven’t made a home made sauce in a while, so I thought it was about time. Everyone loves it when I do, but it sure does take a lot of planning.
Sunday breakfast
Well, it is just about time to start Sunday breakfast. I always make a really big breakfast on Sundays for my family. It is just my little way of telling them how much I love them, by making their favorite stuff. This morning I am going to make muffins, bacon, sausage, eggs and hash browns. It really doesn’t take all that long and it is worth it to be able to sit down for breakfast with my family. Anyway, I am off to cook. Hope everyone has a great day!
Memorial Day weekend
We had such a great time on Sunday. We went to the creek for some family fun in the water. Catching crayfish and swimming as well as a nice little BBQ. By the time we got home we were all burnt even though we used sun block. We spent Monday recuperating from our Sunday frolicking. I am very happy that we decided to get away from the house for our fun. I think sometimes we get into a rut staying home and need time away from the house that doesn’t include school or work. It definitely helps with our moods around here.
Coffee
I love my coffee. I just have to have it in the morning or I am a serious grump. It has to be sweet with lots of creamer. Sometimes I buy the flavored creamers to use in it. Today I am using Baily’s Irish cream flavored creamer. It tastes so yummy, but it is almost gone and I am going to have to go buy some more. I will probably get another flavor this time though. We shall see.
Mmmmm yummy
I just had the most yummy breakfast. I haven’t had chipped beef on toast in so long. I had a craving for it when I went shopping and saw the dried beef on the shelf when I was getting the corned beef hash for another breakfast. I just had to buy it. I made it this morning for breakfast and gobbled it all up. I know I was a bit of a piggy, but I don’t care. It was great!
So much fun
We had so much fun this weekend. We went down to the creek and made a day of it, complete with a picnic lunch. There was even a rope swing for us to jump off into the water with. The kids absolutely loved it. I am so glad that winter is over now and we can have some outdoor fun. We are definitely a family that loves the water and the sunshine. The kids are raring to go next weekend already and I can’t wait either. I am going to hit the store for some water games to take with us. I know the kids really love them, because they wear them out by the end of the summer.
The bar
I am so happy. I found the perfect bar stools for my bar in the game room. We have a pool table, Foosball table, stereo and big screen TV with X-Box and WII set up. Since we set the game room up in the basement, it is rather large. It opens up out the back through double sliding glass doors right onto the patio where the pool is. We can have pool parties and be indoors and out doors at the same time. The bar will be stocked well with all kinds of drinks for the young and old.
I am going to have the first pool party with a full bar on Memorial Day now that it is almost finished. I might even have one on the Fourth of July as well. We shall see how the first one goes first. I cannot wait to show off all of my hard work to all my friends and family.
New park
I am so happy they re did the park down the street. It was looking raggedy and needed a makeover. We got new park benches that look amazing, and believe it or not they are actually comfortable. I took the kids there after school today for a little while to unwind. They really enjoyed it and want to come back over the weekend for a picnic or BBQ. I think that just might be possible if the weather holds nice.
They put in brand new commercial picnic tables for us to have our picnic on as well as new grills to cook on. I am so happy about that. We can have birthday celebrations there again. Before we couldn’t because the equipment was just plain falling apart. I think it is supposed to be a bit windy but not too much. That means I can buy some kites for the kids to fly. I know they will absolutely love that. We haven’t done that in so long, I can’t even remember when the last time was.
