We had a blast in Florida but now I’m thinking about taking the kids to Gatlinburg. There are lots of Gatlinburg vacations we could take before school starts back and the prices are really good. Not to mention, I love the mountains in the summer because it’s not so darn hot there. I guess I’m weird but I prefer the mountains in the summer heat.
The vacation was just what we all needed
Well we just got back from Florida and had a wonderful time. All of the kids came home happy which is unusual since there always seems to be one that wasn’t happy about something. This time, they all had a blast which made me have a blast too.
Nothing does a mothers heart good like knowing that her children were happy and had a good time. Those children are my life, my world, my everything and I want so very much for them to have a happy childhood with lots of great memories. It’s been hard to do that until Papa Charlie came into our lives so here’s to Papa Charlie!! Thanks you so very much for helping make my children have a better childhood!!!
I’m feeling old for some reason
No I’m not about to tell you how old I am but I really think I need some eye cream. Hey it’s never too early to try and keep the wrinkles away. After all, you never know when you just might meet someone, fall in love and live happily ever after. Yeah I know that’s a fairy tale and I sit on mine but it could happen…………one day………….maybe. Better to play if safe than sorry ya know.
My best friend is expecting her first baby
I am so excited for my best friend Allie. She’s expecting her first child. I know exactly what I’ll get her too. I had a uppababy vista stroller for my youngest child and I absolutely loved it. They go from a newborn on up to a toddler and it sure made my life a lot easier since I had three other children too. Another good thing about it is if she has more children, she will have it for them too.
Looks like Florida it is
We put all of the places each of us wants to go to for vacation and when I pulled one out, it was Florida. So now I’m checking out Florida vacations to find the best deal on the destination we choose. I think we’re going to have to put where each of us wants to go in Florida in a hat and pull out a couple so we can decide what we want to do in Florida now.
Gotta love it
I remember seeing this on TV and it reminded me so much of my youngest son. He used to give some evil looks. This little one is just too darn cute. I kept expecting his ice cream to fall off of the cone while he was doing this but that didn’t happen. I hope you enjoy this as much as my children and I have.
My son is in a wedding this weekend
My oldest son is in a wedding next weekend as one of the groomsmen. He really needed a tuxedo shirt because the company they’re renting the tuxedo’s from, just doesn’t have one that will fit him. He’s got really broad shoulders and a tiny waist so every one they had looked like he was wearing his fathers tuxedo shirt. I had to custom order him one so he would look great. He’s so very handsome in a tux.
The stranger
This is a neat little story I came across and thought I would share it with you.
A few months before I was born, my Dad met a stranger who was new to our small Tennessee town. From the beginning, Dad was fascinated with this enchanting newcomer and soon invited him to live with our family. The stranger was quickly accepted and was around to welcome me into the world a few months later.
As I grew up, I never questioned his place in my family. In my young mind, he had a special niche. My parents were complementary instructors: Mom taught me the word of God, and Dad taught me to obey it. But the stranger — he was our storyteller. He would keep us spellbound for hours on end with adventures, mysteries and comedies.
If I wanted to know anything about politics, history or science, he always knew the answers about the past, understood the present and even seemed able to predict the future! He took my family to the first major league ball game. He made me laugh, and he made me cry. The stranger never stopped talking, but Dad didn’t seem to mind.
Sometimes, Mom would get up quietly while the rest of us were shushing each other to listen to what he had to say, and she would go to her room and read her books (I wonder now if she ever prayed for the stranger to leave.)
Dad ruled our household with certain moral convictions, but the stranger never felt obligated to honor them. Profanity, for example, was not allowed in our home… not from us, our friends or any visitors. Our longtime visitor, however, got away with four-letter words that burned my ears and made my dad squirm and my mother blush.
My Dad was a teetotaler who didn’t permit alcohol in the home, not even for cooking. But the stranger encouraged us to try it on a regular basis. He made cigarettes look cool, cigars manly and pipes distinguished. He talked freely (much too freely!) about sex.
His comments were sometimes blatant, sometimes suggestive, and generally embarrassing. I now know that my early concepts about relationships were influenced strongly by the stranger. Time after time, he opposed the values of my parents, yet he was seldom rebuked… and NEVER asked to leave.
More than fifty years have passed since the stranger moved in with our family. He has blended right in and is not nearly as fascinating as he was at first. Still, if you were to walk into my parent’s den today, you would still find him sitting over in his corner, waiting for someone to listen to him talk and watch him draw his pictures. His name?………………………………..
Do you know it yet????
Surely you’ve met this stranger.
The stranger get’s around…….
His name????????
We just call him, “TV.”
I really need a vacation
I have thought about all kinds of places to take the kids but just can’t seem to decide on just one place. I found some great places to go with great travel deals online and that only made it harder to decide. One kid wants Disney World. Another wants to go to Washington, DC, while the other wants to go to Myrtle Beach. I think what I need to do is decide where I would like to go, put all four places in a hat and pick one out. That sounds like the fairest way to me.
Funny Mom stories again!!
I could very easily see myself saying this one and my sister doing just what her sister did!!! She has the same sense of humor as this ladies sister. I would never live it down!!!
Funny Moms Stories #3:
My sister and I were at the mall and passed by a store that sold a variety of candy and nuts. As we were looking at the display case, the boy behind the counter asked if we needed any help. I replied, “No, I’m just looking at your nuts.” My sister started to laugh hysterically. The boy grinned, and I turned beet-red and walked away. To this day, my sister has never let me forget.
