Walmart

Went to Walmart and wanted to get the school lists so I know that the kids are going to need. They were already out of all of them. I cannot believe that. Now I am going to have to go to the schools and pick them up. That is really irritating. Oh well there is nothing for it but to go. I guess I will do that next time I go to do shopping. I will check online and see if they have them posted as well. I might be able to print them out. We shall see.

School

Well it is time to think about school already. I have a lot to do over the next month before school starts and I have to get things in order. I have one who is going into middle school and I need to enroll him and I have one who is going into kindergarten. He also needs to be enrolled. I could have done it at the end of the school year, but I was so busy at the time that it just got put off. No matter, there is time to get it and the school shopping done.

LOL

Kids are so funny. My son was singing the same song I used to sing at the end of the school year. Of course he didn’t know that I could hear him and I didn’t say anything to him, but I did get a chuckle out of it. I know that you know which song I am talking about. No more teachers, no more books, no more teachers dirty looks, when the teacher rings the bell. Drop your books and run like 7734. I am still giggling over that.

Green

After extensive research and talking, I do believe the hubby and I are going to go solar. The rising costs of energy are taking it’s toll on every side of us. Add to that raising children who require that lots of energy be used to care for them and it gets even higher. There are so many programs to choose from or you can do it yourself. Solar is made easy with those who actively decide to do it. I have been watching this turn in society grow exponentially over the past ten years. When people first stared going solar, everyone either looked at them like they were nuts, or said it was cool and expensive.

That is so not the case now. Solar has been getting cheaper and cheaper over the years and quite frankly smarter now then ever before. The move to green energy is becoming like a snowball effect, gathering momentum and growing bigger and bigger. The time has come for us to join in and do our part to help the energy crisis as well as help ourselves in the process. I am looking forward to the change and I hope I can convince my family to follow me.

Solar storm

I just read the most interesting article about the largest solar storm in years. Fortunately, we are only catching the edge of it and not the full brunt. It has the potential to disrupt our electronics and communications around the planet. According to the scientists, next year will be the peak for solar storm activity for this cycle. I certainly hope that all goes well and we don’t have any damage communications wise.

Reading

I love to read. It is something I have passed on to my children as well. They get good grades in school because I made sure they liked to read and encourage them as much as humanly possible. it is definitely paying off for them. I cannot help but to love reading. As a child it took me places and still does that I know I will probably never get to visit. It makes me feel as if I have been there.

Shootings in Ohio

My heart goes out to the families of the kids in the Ohio School shooting. It is so sad that our children think they have to resort to such drastic measures to get people to stop bullying them. Even sadder that parents refuse to parent their children who are bully’s. I cannot stand that kind of parenting, where they think their kids never do any wrong. Then something like this happens and they act all shocked and shaken that their little angel could have pushed another child to do something so horrible. It’s just so sad.

Taxes

Tax season is always hectic for people with tax preparer jobs. I have thought about taking the class and getting certified to do taxes for some extra money. I am always looking for a way to make a little extra cash. Being a stay at home mom is a job in itself, but we are able to afford the extras by the money I make on the side doing various jobs online and such. I have a lot of different things I do and adding one more wouldn’t be too much of a hardship. There are lots of classes out there to take.

The tax class is relatively easy according to my friend Sally. She ordered the books and studied them before taking the test itself online. She was certified in no time at all. We all know that getting our taxes done is something that everyone must do, and the more people there are to do your taxes the better.

I think I will make sure to do it over the next year, so that I am ready for the next tax season. I will have plenty of time to study and take the test before then. I have recommended this to my sister as well, since she is a stay at home mom as well.

Home

Just got home from taking my youngest child to school at the Head Start program. The weather is really nasty out there, but at least it is not freezing as well. It is just very rainy outside. He was not happy about the rain because that means he can’t play on the playground today at school. He loves that playground and has so much fun at preschool. I am so happy that he is finally willing to go to school now. He used to scream when I had to put him in day care, but not anymore. What a good boy he is.

Mandatory volunteering ?

I just read an article that say one county is trying to decide if they want to make a mandatory volunteering law for their county school system. This would require parents volunteer a set number of hours per year and the parents would get a grade at the end of the year on whether or not they reached the total number of hours required. I do not think that forcing people to do something is the way to go. Especially if certain parents are physically unable to do the hours due to lack of transportation or other handicaps. I must say I am glad they aren’t trying to do anything like this here. I would strenuously protest such a thing.
