Creative juices

My brother has a really large living room with lots of large pieces of furniture. He has several recliners and a very large sectional sofa. For several years I’ve been wishing that I had room for a sectional sofa in my smaller house, but I didn’t think it was possible until my best friend Suzie told me about a website that she found. She told me that you can design your own sectional furniture at ClubFurniture dot com. I just went onto that website and was pleasantly surprised to see a pretty good selection of sectional sofas with a chaise on the end for smaller spaces.

I think that I just might buy one of them! The sofa we have in our living room now is too large for the space, and doesn’t have a chaise. I love the idea of having a chaise on one end of the sofa – I love putting my feet up, and if we have a chaise section I could do that and still have room on the sofa for other people to sit!

Landscaping is the final touch

You have decorated or remodeled the interior of your house, spruced up the exterior of it, but still have one thing left to do to be truly satisfied. Landscaping your yard to make it a showplace of it’s own and compliment the house as well. It takes a lot of research to figure out just exactly will look good in your yard with the given space you have to work with. Some people know exactly what they want, while others haven’t a clue. Make sure to clean up your yard of all the stuff that needs storage first. You might want to invest in a garden shed for this if you don’t already have one. You yard will look much better without all that clutter and leave you with the space to do your landscaping.

Choices

Figure out where you want your paths and the general layout. Keep in mind that this may change slightly as you do the landscaping as well. Choose your plants and flowers with an eye towards color all year long, not just for the spring time. Many plants and trees bloom a various times of the year and if you choose the right ones, you will have lots of color in your yard year round. If you plant in groups so that it looks more natural, you will have a much better looking yard. Nature is the best blueprint you can use.

Flowers

Buy flowers that will bloom each year and not have to be replaced like perennials, certain shrubs and vines. There are also bulbs that you can plant in the fall, that will come up at spring time and you will have a sudden burst of color. Iris, tulip and daffodil bulbs can be planted in the fall and have this effect. You may want to choose flowers that will attract hummingbirds or butterfly’s. Morning glory’s, Bee balm, and verbena will attract both hummingbirds and butterflies to your yard and garden.

Trees

Trees can be a great addition to your yard and also double to shade the house during those summer months. Fruit producing trees, such as Apple Trees, Cherry Trees and such are always a plus. They look great and give you fruit as well. Flowering trees like the Magnolia and Dogwood trees are undeniably beautiful, your spring and summer yard will have blooming trees that seem to last and last. Evergreen trees that never lose their color are great for winter color.

Rocks and Pots

You can add to your landscaping, with large pots and rocks or boulders. Large pots (not small ones) are as important as what goes in them. They can be pricey but are a good investment and will look amazing. Rocks are best found in your area. Most times you won’t even have to pay for them if you ask around to see where you might locate construction sites. You can also go to a quarry and buy them cheaper then you can from your local hardware store.

I really like this for Halloween

I found a tutorial for Halloween makeup to be the Corpse Bride. This is really easy and so I thought I would share it with you. There are tons of tutorials for many different looks on YouTube. I was amazed by how many I found. Last year there were not nearly as many. Anyway, here it is. Hope you like it.

New software

I found some new software that can help with my web to print stuff. The eoncode web 2 print has some really good features that will make my stuff easier to access and print. The kids can even use it for some of their school projects as well. I can hardly wait to use it and see how well it works. I have a lot of projects to do over the next few weeks, so we shall see.

Hamburger stew

I have a great recipe that is easy peasy to make. I thought I would share it with you guys.

You will need;

  • 1 lb of ground beef
  • 1 large bottle of V8
  • 5 medium potatoes (peeled and cut into bite size pieces)
  • 1 can of green beans
  • 1 can of corn
  • natures seasoning
  • Tony Chechares Creole seasoning
  • garlic
  • half an onion (chopped)

Brown the ground beef in a large pot and drain. Add all of the other ingredients (including juice from cans of veggies). Cook on meduim heat for at least an hour, until the potatoes have softened and the stew has thickened up some. It doesn’t get really thick, but it is amazing.

Top with parmesean cheese and serve. Tastes great!

College books

Well we found a place to order my nieces college books online. She will be able to visit one of their many stores when she gets to school, if she needs anything else. I am sure that she will, the professors always add something or another, but with any luck she is covered. I am so proud that my niece is going off to college. It makes me feel a little bit old though. Seems like yesterday, she was a little thing playing in my closet and trying on my shoes with her little feet. I think I am going to tear up now.

A search

I have to make a search for a A Few Good Plumbers. I have some plumbing questions that I need answered right away. I want to re do the main bathroom and put in a heated floor in it. Since I know that it uses water, I believe they will be the ones to ask about it first before I make any decisions. We shall see.

For my Jeep

I found more parts for my 4WD Jeep. I really am having a lot of fun shopping for the stuff I want to fix it up. There is so much to choose from when it comes to modifying a Jeep. I have looked at all different set ups and have a few different ones in mind. Like most women, I am having a little trouble making up my mind about them. They all look so good, that it is hard to choose. I was thinking about putting a rack on the top of it for storage, but I am not sure which one will be better.

There is also new bumpers and fenders and other such stuff which will make my Jeep look amazing. My boyfriend has fixed his up and made it look really good. When he bought me mine for Christmas, he bought it with fixing it up foremost in his mind. My Jeep is a little different from his, but the concept is the same. We have had so much fun with our jeeps, that my brother is considering buying one as well. He was over here yesterday watching us search this site for parts. He gave his input of course on what he thought would look good and be useful as well.

I have a place drawn out with only a few adjustments for other stuff. Bestop is going to help me with some of that. I can’t wait to see the finished product. It is going to be so sweet looking. I hope to have it all done by the end of April. That should give me plenty of time before camping season gets here. We are already planning our first trip to the Smokey Mountains. We will be going as soon as school lets out half way through May. It’s going to be so much fun.

My Jeep

I am getting a new Rugged Ridge Bumper for my Jeep. I am so happy, because I finally get to start upgrading my ride. I want everything ready to go for camping and four wheeling season. Mine will have a winch in it for those times when I need to pull myself out or help someone else get unstuck. It never hurts to be prepared after all.

We have been making plans to go to a few really big gatherings this coming summer. We want to travel a bit and be able to take the kids to places that we have never been before. There are massive four wheeling events all over the United States. No matter where you live, you can find at least two or three in the surrounding areas to go to. I have never lacked for places to go four wheeling. I fell in love with big trucks and mudding when I was in high school. I used to go on the weekends with my friends on ATV’s and a few trucks as well.

My Jeep is my baby, just like my fiance’s Jeep is his baby and we are very particular about how we want them to be. His Jeep is just about finished thanks to me and the Christmas presents I bought him for it. There are only a couple of things he wants to get for it and then he will be completely done. Now it is my turn and I get to go all out for mine. I have picked out a bunch of stuff for it, but haven’t totally decided exactly which to buy. There is just so much that you can do to a Jeep to upgrade it, that choosing can be difficult. My fiance will help me narrow it down some and then I will make the final decisions. We are actually sketching out what it will look like with all of the new parts on it.
