Most online colleges are good schools but I found how to get Online master degrees from one of the top ranked private colleges in the country. Yes a lot of the top colleges are afraid that attending classes online will not give their students a proper education but just the opposite is true.
One things for sure, if Kiplingers Personal Finance ranks Gonzaga University a best value among private universities, then it has to be a great college. I’m going to do a lot more checking into what they have to offer. A good education is something no one can ever take from you.
You know what I mean, one of those days when you can’t do anything right or one of those days when everything you touch turned to crap or everything you said came out wrong? Well that’s what my whole week has been. I’m to the point where I just want to climb in my bed, pull the covers over my head and stay there until this week is over but that won’t help.
I guess all I need to do is take a deep breath, put duct tape over my mouth and put mittens on my hands so I can’t touch anything or speak. I wonder if anyone would notice? Probably and then I’d mess up even more but I bet I’d get a few laughs too. With that in mind, I might give it a try. Just kidding.
This time of year there are always a lot of kittens and puppies at the shelter, but there are also a lot of adult cats and dogs being surrendered by owners and many are abandoned or dropped off because of the economy. People are being evicted and having their homes foreclosed and have no way to take care of the pets any more.
This really bothers me – I just don’t see how anyone in good conscience can abandon a pet. What kind of person leaves an animal locked in an empty house and drives off? What kind of person can drive down a road and just toss kittens out of the window into a stranger’s driveway? People who do that and people who beat their dogs or otherwise abuse their animals should be arrested and put into jail.
If you have a shelter in your community, next time you have the urge to take on a pet, I hope you will go to the shelter and adopt an animal from the shelter. And if you have anything you can donate to the shelter, here’s a list of desired items that can be dropped off and will be put into good use:
Clean, old newspapers to be used for litter and lining cages
Toilet seat covers (cats love to lie on them in their cages)
Any type of cat or dog toy (plastic or washable)
Old bath towels and blankets
Canned cat food, any brand
Bagged, dry dog food (particularly desired is Science Diet but other brands accepted)
Laundry soap
Bleach
Heavy ceramic food and water bowls
Antibacterial hand soap
Candles – citrus or spice
Paper towels
Shelters also need volunteers to come and walk dogs and play with the animals for short periods to give them exercise and socialization skills. If you have a good heart, please help the animals in your local shelter.
Once a year, Tennessee and a couple other states give the families a break and declare the first weekend in August is Tax Free Shopping. That means all the clothes, shoes, computers and school supplies are able to be bought without having to pay the sales tax. That is a huge savings when you can put off buying those things until this particular weekend and then buy things you need. A lot of stores have extra sale prices, too. Even people who aren’t going back to school save money when they buy clothes and shoes during this weekend! Smart time to shop!
Credit Card Counseling is everywhere in these economic times but there are more options than getting with a company that focuses on debt consolidation. Most of those types of companies only help you with counseling or others only help you to find refinancing and still others get you into a service where you pay a certain amount per month and owe less in the end.
Well they are hard to find, but there really are companies that help you with all of the above and financial planning too. In all reality, financial planning is the best way to get out of debt and stay debt-free while you plan for your future at the same time. Getting debt-free won’t happen overnight; it may take years, and it takes a lot of discipline to spend your money wisely. I know that sounds impossible but financial planning really can help.
I grew up listening to the music of the 70’s since that’s when my mother grew up. She loved that music so that’s what we all had to listen to in the car. No I don’t have Sirius Radio in my car but I do have it on my satellite TV.
I found the Totally 70’s station and I don’t watch TV anymore, I listen to it. I especially love it when they play a selection from the ‘Juke Box from Hell’ and then play something like ‘Dead skunk in the middle of the road’. I find myself dancing around the house like I used to see my mother do when I was little. If I have to sit at the computer and accommodate the family’s request for silence so they can hear their own music, or watch a TV show, I’ll put on a pair of headphones that I bought a few weeks ago from the musiciansfriend.com website and listen to it without bothering them. One way or the other, I am going to listen to MY MUSIC! I LOVE IT!
frozen tv dinners (free clip art)Well I am being lazy today. I usually don’t really like frozen dinners, but keep them on hand for lazy days or days when we are way too busy. So tonight we are having Salisbury steak with mashed potatoes, gravy and green beans. Simple and sweet with very little prep time. This day was so very bad, I just don’t have the mind set to cook more than that.
I don’t know about you, but I never would have thought to buyheatshrink tubing as a marketing tool. But when I was looking at the cool things you can do with customized, printed, heat shrink tubing all kinds of ideas started popping into my brain! My hubby and I were thinking about starting our own bee-keeping and honey business, and selling the honey that we could make. We could use printed heat shrink tubing with our business’s name and logo on it and shrink it onto the bottles and jars that we put honey in! We could use it on little tins, too. How about using it on vases? Lamp bases? Flower pots? Drinking glasses and mugs? I’d wager I could come up with a lot more ideas if given a little bit of time!
skunk (free clip art)Last night I was driving home from my friend Elaine’s house and was very surprised to see three skunks in the middle of the road! The sun had set, and I was driving down one of those narrow country roads that have no stripes down the middle, or sides, and no street lights to improve visibility. There were no houses in sight, and the road was twisting and turning. I had just gone around a very sharp “hairpin” turn and saw the skunks walking, on “my” side, head to tail – like you would see elephants on parade! They all appeared to be the same size, so I couldn’t tell if they were a mother skunk leading her babies across the road or not.
When my headlights hit them, I braked as quick as I could, and started to steer the car away from the direction they were walking. Uttering a silent prayer “please, Lord, don’t let me hit these skunks” I tensed up and held my breath. I was SURE that I was going to hear that horrible “thunk” that would confirm that my evasive actions were inadequate. But no thunk came. And no skunk perfume wafted up at me. I let out a sigh of relief, and looked in my rear view mirror to see if I could see the skunks, but the darkness of the night had already enveloped the threesome. They were gone from sight. I offered up a silent “thank you Lord” and started to breathe normally again. But I kept my eyes sharply peeled for any other wildlife that might decide to cross the road as I continued my journey home. Thankfully that was the most exciting part of the trip.
Although I marveled at seeing the three skunks walking nose-to-tail like that, I hope to never see a sight like that again while driving in a car! And now I can’t get that song “Dead skunk in the middle of the road” out of my head! Maybe after watching this YouTube video about the song will help me get over it quicker!
Independence Day (free clip art)There is a local semi-pro baseball team that has the best fireworks every year. It doesn’t cost much to go watch the game either. I love taking the kids every year to see the ball game and the fireworks. It’s almost become a tradition with us. Before the game, we go to the park for a cook out with my family. We have hamburgers and hot dogs, potato salad and make home-made ice cream too. By the time it’s time to go to the ball game, we’re all stuffed and so that helps save money at the game. Hot dogs are EXPENSIVE at ball games.
