Couldn’t find the umbrella for the kids this morning. They had to stand on the porch and wait until they heard the bus turn onto the street. Then they ran down the hill and got there just in time. We really should build or put up some kind of over hang or something. That way they can stand under it in inclement weather. It is a definite thought anyway.
Industrial hydraulics and power units
Industrial power is run by hydraulic power or fluid power. Hydraulic power units transmit power by using the controlled circulation of of pressurized fluids, like oil, to a motor that converts it into mechanical power that will support a work load. The power units create a large amount of power, which in turn drives the hydraulics to create a massive amount of pressure into one small area.
Hydraulic power units are used everywhere. Construction equipment like back hoes, skid steers, and dump trucks all have hydraulics on them to lift and move loads. Marine equipment, like the lifts that lift a boat out of the water or on boats with large nets that have to be lifted out of the water as well. The military applications for hydraulic power are virtually limitless. Automotive shops use hydraulic lifts to lift the vehicle into the air so that the mechanic can work on them easier and NASA uses them to lift and move the rockets and space shuttles that we send into outer space.
Farm equipment have power units as well as amusement parks rides, garbage trucks, oil rigs, and even airplanes use them to move their flaps and wheels. There are power units running almost every hydraulic powered equipment in the world. Without power units, many of the things we do today would be virtually impossible, or at least they would take much longer to do.
Hydraulic power units save time and energy, so we can do things in less time and with a minimum of effort. The engine and transmission in your car is a power unit. The motor drives the hydraulic transmission that turns the wheels and makes the car move forward. Hydraulic power units come in many sizes, and can be found in just about every part of your life, including your home. Garbage compactors used in household kitchens are also hydraulic power units.
Pancakes for breakfast
My son is making breakfast this morning. We are having pancakes. I bought one of those add water and shake bottles of pancake mix and he can do it all by himself. He loves to cook and pancakes are one of his absolute favorites. Of course I keep one eye on him, because he is only ten, but he does really well. He will be a wonderful cook one day.
Acid Etched Glass
Acid etched glass can be used just about anywhere and is very popular with architects, interior designers and home owners. It allows lots of light in without having to worry about privacy issues. It is also very easy to keep clean as it does not pick up finger prints and such quite as much.
The etching process is really interesting. They start out with a regular piece of glass, perfectly clear. Then they use acid to make whatever design the client has requested. It can be done on one or both sides of the glass. It is all according to what you like. The acid eats away at the top layer of the glass, making it cloudy so that you cannot see through it. You can’t even feel it either, because it is left so smooth. It really is a revolutionary texture process. If you were to put it under a microscope, you would see the hills and valleys created by the acid. Yet it is so fine that you cannot see it with the naked eye.
Using interior glass doors that have been acid etched can make your space look larger and softens the light as well from one room to another. Weather you use it for a door in your bathroom, or a cabinet door the look is clean and still provides the privacy you want. They can even be used as a table top or a shower door.
Acid etched glass can be used in businesses as well. It can be used as doors, walls, flooring, stairs, or windows. The applications for this glass is virtually limitless and the look is beautiful and clean throughout. It gives a very modern look to any home or office. It doesn’t matter if it is remodeling or newly built, acid etched glass is everywhere.
Poor lil guy
My little guy had an accident at school today. I had to take him a change of clothes. He was so embarrassed to have had an accident at school. He is in middle school now and I am sure that makes a big difference to him. Well, I hope the rest of his day goes much better then the first half has. I am sure that it will.
My music
I just bought a multi-port interface for recording my music where ever I go. Sometimes, I like to take my guitar out to the lake or down by the river and play. I like to record my songs and having a portable interface will help with that. I got the idea from my cousin, who had a band and they are always on the go. They like to record all over the place, so bought this and viola! They record their track where ever they want.
The joys of school
I love it when the kids are back in school and the house is so quiet during the day. Blessed peace with only whatever music I decide to play. I can get so much more done when the kids are at school. On today’s cleaning menu is total fall cleaning. This includes the windows, walls and door frames to remove all finger, hand and face prints. Yes I said face prints…On the windows…all of them. lol
