Sunday morning music

Well we did have a weekend to ourselves and on Sunday morning, we always play some type of gospel music unless it offends any of our guests.  This Sunday, we decided was a perfect Sunday to hear Elvis sing gospel.  This is one of my favorites because you can see the pure joy in his face and hear it in his voice as he sings for fun with JD Sumner and the Stamps quartet. Thank goodness for youtube so I could share this with you.

Well it’s back to the real world

Back to school time will be here before we know it and as usual, we are running our ‘back to school’ special which is that if they bring a book bag full of the supplies a child would need, they get one night half price.  We have to look out for the children with all of the cutbacks in the school system.

It has become a tradition here that we collect school supplies and even people from the community will stop by to donate a few items here and there.  They ask nothing in return either.  It’s all done just out of the goodness of their hearts.  This is a great community and I just love it here.

The wedding went great

I guess it’s just the old sentimental me but that was one of the most beautiful weddings we have ever had here and we have had quite a few.  The bride was dressed all in white of course but she has red roses embroidered in her Vail and the lace over the satin of her dress.  I have never seen such a beautiful dress in my life.  Come to find out, it had been her mothers and her mother had the red roses put on the dress for her.

He groom wore a white tuxedo with the same color red as her roses on his cumber bun and tie.  Oh he looked so handsome standing there.  She carried 12 red roses with babies breath in her bouquet and it was  just so beautifully coordinated.

The brides maids were all dressed in a beautiful soft rose color while the groomsmen wore white shirts with white pants and a soft rose sash across their waists.  they each had a single rose in their hands that they gave to the brides maids when they got to the alter.  Just an absolutely perfect wedding!!

They had a great time!!

I wish I had a picture of Little Joe’s face while he was telling me about Disney World.  He was grinning from ear to ear.  He got see Goofy, Pluto, Mickey, Donald, and a bunch of girls too he told me.  His mother was glowing just watching her little man tell me all about their trip.

I must say, her face was more relaxed and rested looking than I have seen it in a long time too.  She has worked so hard at college, here, and taking care of Little Joe too.  I am so very proud of her.  In fact, I couldn’t be prouder if she was my own daughter!!

How about a vacation in Florida?

The picture of Cinderella and that adorable little girl started me thinking.  I have checked out several web sites and found a bunch of great deals for Little Joe and his mother to go to Disney World for a week.  She worked so very hard this year in school and has a couple of weeks off before she has to go back for the summer semester so why not reward her hard work with a vacation.

I can just imagine Little Joe’s face when he sees Goofy.  That’s his favorite character but he just can’t figure out why Pluto can’t talk and Goofy can when they’re both dogs.  I can’t explain it to him and neither can his mother.  I guess we’ll just have to wait for him to come up with a reason.  I think I heard him call Pluto a ‘dumb dog’ the other day.

Jokes and riddles

I remember a smart aleck kid from grade school who used to tell jokes and riddles. some of them were long stories with a big punch line. sometimes they were just short riddles. Usually they were a play on words, like “hot today and chile tomale.”

I don’t know what made me think of him today. I bet he grew up to be a famous comedian though.

Little Joe

Little Joe and his mother have really been so much help and joy to me.  Little Joe likes to feed the chickens and the other animals that he can.  He’s even been helping clean the barn out a bit.  Little fella works really hard but gets very little done because he spends more time talking to the animals.  It’s sheer pleasure to have him out there with me.

Oh he has named each and every new baby we have here.  The twin goats are Billy and Betty.  I have no idea where those names came from but that’s what he named them.  Oh the pygmy donkey was expecting and now has the cutest baby you have ever seen.  Little Joe named her Angel because his mother told him that a donkey carried Mary when she was expecting Baby Jesus.  He said that donkey was an angel and that’s where the name for our baby came from.  It’s that precious!!!

Babies are everywhere

Remember me telling you about my new petting zoo?  Well all of a sudden, there are baby animals everywhere.  What else would you expect with it being full blown spring.

We have twin pygmy goats, one boy and one girl, we have baby chicks running round everywhere, baby rabbits and I think my miniature donkey is expecting too because she’s getting awfully round in the middle.  The new babies have been the talk of the town too.  Nothing like babies to bring the crowds in, now is there?

Bet they’ll have a hard time getting a sitter now!

I couldn’t believe what I was reading.  The headline read “Boy, 4 years old, shoots babysitter for stepping on foot.”  I thought he might have shot him with a BB gun or something like that but no, not this little fella.  He has one more bad temper apparently.  Read this:

Police say a 4-year-old boy in southern Ohio shot his babysitter because the sitter accidentally stepped on his foot. Police said 18-year-old Nathan Beavers and several other teenagers were babysitting several young children in a mobile home in Jackson on Sunday when the shooting occurred.

Witnesses told police the 4-year-old retrieved the shotgun from a bedroom closet and shot Beavers. Police said the child was angry because Beavers accidentally stepped on his foot. Beavers was hospitalized with minor pellet wounds to his arm and side. Police say another teen was also injured with shotgun pellets.

Jackson County Sheriff John Shashteen said authorities are investigating the shooting. The child has not been charged.

Okay, they didn’t charge the child but what about charging the parents for having a weapon where the child could get to it and worse yet, it being loaded.  Either that or the child is one smart cookie and knew where the shells were and how to load the shotgun.  Someone will end up being charged before it’s all over I bet.

I need some extra storage

I really need some extra storage space and I found it at carguygarage.com.   It’s a family owned company that has everything I’m looking for to create extra storage space in my garage.  This is the best part of this site, if you know of a product they don’t have, you can call them and they’ll try and get it.  That’s what you get when you go with a family owned company.  That type of service is something a lot of companies have gotten away from and that also might be one of the reasons other companies fail too but that’s my opinion.  So if you’re looking for storage help, I highly recommend you check out this site.  I bet you’ll find just what you need.
