Surprise visit

There was a gospel group that had come to a local church to sing and decided to stop by here.  They had stayed here a few years ago and wanted to come by and say ‘Hi’.

They graced my patrons with a mini gospel singing.  They were even better than I remembered them being.  They sang a few of the old standards and some original songs the members had composed themselves.  The children were dancing and several of their parents were singing along with them.  It was a wonderful treat.

Most of the people even gave money to the group for them entertaining them even though there was no charge.  There are still some good people in the world, we just have to take the time to see them.

Summer heat

Well the summer heat is here and driving more people up here in the mountains where it is still cool enough to leave your windows open through the day most days.  Sure there are times when it gets a bit warm but then you turn on the ceiling fans and all is well.

Very few places have air conditioning up here.  I do have it and will turn it on if requested but most people prefer the windows open anyway.  They love the fresh mountain air.  I do too.  It sure saves on the power bills if I don’t have to turn on the A/C, if you know what I mean.

Summer kicking up here

Boy am I glad the gas prices have kept people close.  You know what I mean?  People are taking shorter vacation trips and I have been booked solid since school got out and am still booked through labor day weekend.  I even have most weekends after school goes back booked almost solid.  I really hate that gas is so high but it has helped the local economy a great deal.  The best part is that a lot of people are finding my place that didn’t even know it was here before.  Word of mouth is the best advertising there is.

Happy 4th of July

I sure hope you guys are having a ‘blast’ today.  We have a special July 4th package deal going on where the whole house is decorated for the 4th, and we are having a huge picnic type dinner for everyone in the community too.  The other local businesses like the tubing guys up river are throwing in with me and offering tubing and canoeing along with my package.

It’s kind of a bring your own fireworks type display and everyone brings a side dish too from the community.  Watermellons are in the river getting good and cold and so is the beer.  We always have the best time, and the house is booked solid for the whole 3 day weekend.

I admit it

Okay, you caught me, I’m blond and sometimes it’s hard to keep me on one subject, ya know?  My mind goes from one thing to another so fast sometimes I can’t even keep up with it but I usually come back to what I started with before you know it too.  See we get a lot of ‘city folk’ as we call them and they can’t leave their laptops home because they think their lives will end if their hands aren’t attached to their laptops so I provide wireless internet to make them happy.  Gotta do what you can to bring the customers in and keep them happy and coming back.

What we also offer

Speaking of online, we also offer wireless internet here at my place.  I haven’t told you what I call my little establishment here, have I?   It’s called Heavenly Acres!!  No not Green Acres either.  There’s a little farm about 10 miles from here and the name of it is ‘Little Ass Farm’.  They raise miniature donkeys.  Isn’t that just too cute?  I thought it was.  Laughed my rear off when I saw it.

Love these mountains

I own a bed and breakfast in the mountains of North Carolina.  Life is good here and a bit slow as I like it.  People are genuine here, not fake like in some of the big cities.  I love the outdoors.  Animals frequent my establishment.  Watch as the sun sets on any given night and you’ll see deer, an occasional bear and plenty of other small creatures making their way to the river that flows in front of my place.  It gives you a peace no where else can.
