I was getting tired of my old WordPress theme and decided to shop around for a new, more lively theme. I love this one. It fits me better than the old one. The old one sort of looked so lonely to me and I am anything but lonely. In fact, my life is full of wonderful friends and a wonderful community so here’s to my new theme!! What do you think? I personally love it!!
Time for spring to bring in the new life
Everyone gets into the mood to do spring cleaning and making everything look better after a long winters hibernation in some cases. Well my place is no different. Every spring, I always look around to find something that might need a little fine tuning to make the place even more inviting. Well this year, I decided to start by taking an honest look at it from the road. I know what it looks like from inside but you need to view from the road to spark some interest in what’s inside.
There is a nice sign at the road telling the name of the place and what it is but it needs a touch of ‘class’. That I found in a custom address sign. It hangs off of the sign that has the name on it and I had my choice of what I wanted on top of it. JustAddressPlaques.com had the best selection I could find online. I loved the selection they had. It was hard to decide which one I wanted but once I did and put it up, it was absolutely perfect. It was just what I needed to bring the attention to my sign that I was looking for. The home address plaque on the front porch worked great too.
Quite week thank goodness
Well it’s been a quiet week around here, thank goodness. A couple of local Christmas Tree growers brought us three deer they killed because they were eating their trees. I made jerky from some of it, had some of the other made into sausage, and the rest were cut into roasts and ground into hamburger. A local butcher does all of this for me and he does a great job.
When he makes the sausage and hamburger, he always adds a little beef fat to it because deer is so lean that it’s so dry if you don’t add the beef fat. Once that’s added then the sausage cooks much better and you don’t have to add any oil to the pan when it’s cooking. I use the deer burger for soups and chili. I’m not crazy about just deer burger to make meatloaf but if you put half deer burger and half hamburger, then it makes pretty good meatloaf. Surprising how many people come here because I serve wild game. It’s the only place they can try it and know it’ll be good.
I’ve also had a blast Christmas shopping for Little Joe and Celeste. I guess I have spoiled them because I got Little Joe a remote controlled car, a Nintendo Wii (I hope he’s not too little for it), a Leapster and a bunch of games for it, and a bunch of other small toys like dinosaurs and even got him a frog aquarium.
Celeste, well she’s like a daughter to me. I bought her a used car but it’s a good one. I had my mechanic check it out to make sure it’s a sound car. I got her a Honda because they get pretty good gas mileage and are pretty darn dependable. It’s a Honda Civic and I can’t remember what year it is. I have CRS (Can’t remember shit) so you’ll have to excuse me. I also got her a Dell Laptop computer. She graduates from High School this year and is planning on going to college. She’ll need a laptop in college and it sure won’t hurt for her to have one now.
New lap top computer
Remember me telling you about ordering a lap top computer? Well it was not worth my time or money. Now I have a real lap top and not a toy. I went to Dell.com and got a referbished lap top and saved a bundle. You can put in what you want or need and they will show you a list of available lap tops at the price range you choose. Not too bad. My computer geek guy that works for me helped me pick out just what I needed.
I just don’t know what I would do without him. He is such a help to me and has shown me ways to save money on business expenses that I didn’t even think of. To quote my favorite group, “I get buy with a little help from my friends!”
Anything to save a penny
The way gas keeps going up, you have to save any way you can. I found a web site where you can get online coupons on just about anything you want. The best part is that most of the things I want come with free shipping too. Heck, I save with the coupons, I save with the free shipping and I save my own gas by not having to run all over the hills to find what I want. I’m a happy girl!!!!
I forgot to tell you about the savings
I saved the shipping and handling charges that would have been $9, by having my new computer sent to the store, instead of being delivered to my home address. I like that policy. I’ll let you know how this little laptop handles when I get it all figured out. I’m a bit nervous, I’m not the best when it comes to all these electronic gadgets and I’m sure I’ll be call my computer whiz kid friend for assistance, but I’ll give it a try and see what happens.
New Computer for me
I’ve been checking out laptop computers and I have found one that I think I would like to have. I ordered it online from Wal-Mart today. It’s an Everex 7 CloudBook. Have you seen them or heard of them? It’s a very portable laptop that I will be able to tuck in my back pack or hand bag and take practically everywhere that I go. I hate being tied down to anything and since I already have wireless Internet, I can even take it out in the yard and surf to my hearts desire if I so desire. It only weighs a little over 2 pounds and I can’t wait to get an email telling me that it has arrived at the store so I can go pick it up and get the initialization process over with. I just hope it’s not too complicated to getting it going since I’ve never had a ‘new’ computer before. I always got someones hand me down computer but I’m not complaining.
Security
I have this kid working for me that is going to college taking computer science and electronics and all kinds of stuff like that. This kid amazes me with the gadgets he has set up for me here.
I have a state of the art security system that goes to my private part of the house that can only be opened by my fingerprint. He put in some kind of loop hole so that the police or emergency people could get in to me along with my most trusted employee Hazel. She’s been with me since I opened this place. It’s amazing what this kid can do with a computer.
What we also offer
Speaking of online, we also offer wireless internet here at my place. I haven’t told you what I call my little establishment here, have I? It’s called Heavenly Acres!! No not Green Acres either. There’s a little farm about 10 miles from here and the name of it is ‘Little Ass Farm’. They raise miniature donkeys. Isn’t that just too cute? I thought it was. Laughed my rear off when I saw it.
