A lot of people are saying that they no longer like to read newspapers or watch the late night news. They say that all the news is bad. It is about crime, tragedies and politics. But I feel it is important to stay informed. You don’t have to react to these stories in a negative way. There are two sides – or more – to every story. Maybe it is a flag that we should heed that means someone needs attention to fix or change!

Happy Birthday, America!
I love the Fourth of July. We always get to gather around family and friends, eat good food and celebrate the night with fireworks. I only remember one Fourth of July that is rained. I believe they just shot off all the fireworks the next night. So we got an extra day to celebrate our country’s birthday!
Too Hot
The weather forecast for this entire weekend is Hot Hot Hot. The temperature will be at least 100 degrees on Saturday and Sunday. Then when you add humidity to the air, the temperature will feel more like 106 – 110 degrees.
This is too hot for me to do anything outdoors unless I really have to. The yard needs mowing and weed whacking, but I’ll have to do that very early in the morning or wait another day or two. The problem with cutting grass early is that it not only disturbs the neighbors but the dew on the grass makes the cut uneven and clogs the mower.

Craving a Hot Dog
Most of the time I only want a hot dog when I’m at a ball game. but for some reason I have been craving a hot dog today. I want a big one, like the Oscar Mayer bun length all beef franks. I want the bun to be fresh and soft and steamed with the dog in it. Then I’ll put a stripe of ketchup and a few dabs of yellow mustard on top, and enjoy a serving of pork and beans on the side. Now, that’s a great lunch for a summer weekend!
Happy Memorial Day
Today we thank our soldiers for serving their country. It is a somber holiday for people who have lost a loved one to war or accidental death while in the service. We lost our father many years ago to Cancer, but he served our country in the war and I think of him fondly on every Memorial Day.
Good Morning
Hot coffee is the best way to start a morning. Humans do well with a set morning routine. Mine includes making a small pot of coffee with my fresh ground, custom blend of coffee beans. I sip on it while reading my email, Facebook and newspaper links. Then, as I’m waking up, I can deal with putting on makeup, choosing the day’s clothes, and fixing my hair. An hour later, I’m ready to tackle the world!
