Christmas Panic

Everyone is hustling and getting ready for the big guy in a red suit. I have to do some more shopping, but I’m only looking for a couple more things. I spent more money than I intended, but I think everyone does.

I always have a big gift wrapping session on Christmas Eve. It usually takes an hour or two. It’s lonely but exhilarating at the same time. I’m looking forward to seeing the tree with piles of presents around it on Christmas morning!

Thanksgiving Feast

This year I’m not cooking Thanksgiving dinner. I’m going to spend the whole long weekend with my mom and dad. I will head over to mom’s house around 3:00 and help her with the last minute things in the kitchen, then we will all sit together at 6:00 sharp for dinner.

I hope you have a nice Thanksgiving and get to enjoy food that tastes as great as what I will be having!

Movies for One Buck

Last night I was getting gas at Thorntons and decided to walk over to the Redbox and see if there are any new movies out. I like the way Redbox has a large selection of current movies and some oldies but goodies, too. For only $1 a night, its a bargain for entertainment. I’m even thinking about canceling my cable – it costs too much and I don’t watch that many movies on it to make the monthly charges worth it anymore.

Happy Birthday, America!

I love the Fourth of July. We always get to gather around family and friends, eat good food and celebrate the night with fireworks. I only remember one Fourth of July that is rained. I believe they just shot off all the fireworks the next night. So we got an extra day to celebrate our country’s birthday!

Craving a Hot Dog

Most of the time I only want a hot dog when I’m at a ball game. but for some reason I have been craving a hot dog today. I want a big one, like the Oscar Mayer bun length all beef franks. I want the bun to be fresh and soft and steamed with the dog in it. Then I’ll put a stripe of ketchup and a few dabs of yellow mustard on top, and enjoy a serving of pork and beans on the side. Now, that’s a great lunch for a summer weekend!

Happy Memorial Day

patriotic_tykes

Today we thank our soldiers for serving their country. It is a somber holiday for people who have lost a loved one to war or accidental death while in the service. We lost our father many years ago to Cancer, but he served our country in the war and I think of him fondly on every Memorial Day.

Happy Labor Day weekend

Well it looks like it’s going to be a great Labor Day weekend for us.  Every room is booked and in fact, I had more calls for reservations than I had rooms.  Luckily some of them took dates for next weekend and some went ahead and booked for Halloween weekend and even Thanksgiving.

I hope that each and every one of you has a safe and happy Labor Day.  Unfortunately it’s also the sign of Autumn beginning but that’s okay.  All things must change!!

We’re hosting a wedding party

The whole place is reserved for this Wednesday through Sunday.  We’re having a wedding.  I love weddings and this one if going to be absolutely beautiful, just as all weddings are.  They have left the reception to us so my fabulous cook will be making the wedding cake and everything else for the reception.

The florists are coming to see what flowers will work the best with the atmosphere and where they are putting all of them.    The wedding is Thursday and guests will be coming in on Wednesday.  Unfortunately we have limited space so some have made reservations at local motels but the wedding party is all staying here.

The wedding suite will be so beautifully decorated for this wonderful occasion too.  I can’t wait to get started on it all so I better get my rear in gear.  There are rooms to decorate and menu’s to prepare.

They had a great time!!

I wish I had a picture of Little Joe’s face while he was telling me about Disney World.  He was grinning from ear to ear.  He got see Goofy, Pluto, Mickey, Donald, and a bunch of girls too he told me.  His mother was glowing just watching her little man tell me all about their trip.

I must say, her face was more relaxed and rested looking than I have seen it in a long time too.  She has worked so hard at college, here, and taking care of Little Joe too.  I am so very proud of her.  In fact, I couldn’t be prouder if she was my own daughter!!
