Well it’s back to rain and dreary weather

I thought it was April showers that brought May flowers.  I guess this year it’s going to be May showers bring June flowers.  I sprinkled some wildflower seeds on the flower bed beside my front door about 3 weeks ago and only a few have even started to come up.  Well I think those are flowers coming up.  Right now it’s hard to tell if its flowers or weeds since they’re just starting to come up here and there.

I got seeds for flowers that attract birds and butterflies.  I just love nature.  I have several humming bird feeders too and it’s time to get them out but I have yet to see any around.  Probably because it’s been so darn wet and dreary for the past 2 or 3 weeks.  I’d stay where it’s nice and warm too if I was them.

Well looks like another neighbor is moving

There are so many people moving out of our neighborhood that it’s becoming almost a weekly occurrence.  I hope I never have to move again but I’m sure I will at some point.  One things for sure, when I do, I’ll check out the moving companies very carefully. You can’t be too careful when you decide on a movers because you’re basically trusting just about everything you own to them.  You have to make sure they have a good reputation.  Personally I think I would rather use Budget Van Lines since I know several people that have used them.

Some people prefer to use one way truck rentals which is great if you don’t mind doing all of the work yourself but one things for sure, you know you will pack your stuff carefully.  I’m not sure I would want to do all of that myself.  After some of what I have read about Budget Van Lines, I still think that’s who I would get to do my move for me.  But to each his own I guess.  I just hope everyone has done their homework and checked out who’s moving their stuff!!!

Time for some more humor

My mother told this one at our Mothers Day celebration.  Now if you knew my mother, you would realize just how funny this is because my mother never tells jokes in the first place and well, this one is kind of funny was the second surprise to all of us.  See what you think?

Little boy wanted $100.00 very badly and prayed for weeks, but nothing happened. Then he decided to write God a letter requesting the $100.00.

When the postal authorities received the letter to God , USA , they decided to send it to the President. The president was so amused that he instructed his secretary to send the little boy a $5.00 bill. The president thought this would appear to be a lot of money to a little boy.

The little boy was delighted with the $5.00 bill and sat down to write a thank-you note to God, which read:

Dear God:

Thank you very much for sending the money. However, I noticed that for some reason you sent it through Washington D.C. and they took $95.00 in taxes.  Next time please send it straight to me so they won’t take out all those taxes.

Now my sister has the bug

I guess since Mom has gotten so into redecorating and I have been doing some too, my sister has now caught the redecorating bug.  She was asking me about home address plaques because she had noticed that I have a nice address plaque on my front porch.  She said she hadn’t really thought much about it until she saw how nice mine looked and wanted to either find some address plaques she could choose between or maybe an address sign would be better.

She has a rather long driveway and thought that maybe address signs might be  better since you would be able to see them better from the street.    Well I suggested she not only get one for at the street but she could also choose from the wall address plaques for her porch too.  There’s nothing wrong with having one at the end of the driveway and one on the house.  She agreed and now it will take her a week to pick each one out.

Let me tell you about Mothers Day

All of us girls met over at Moms for Mothers Day and cooked her a nice lunch.  Then it was time to pull out the Mothers Day presents.  I made sure mine was the last one that Mom would open too.  One of my sisters got Mom a beautiful summer outfit and Mom loved it.  It had Capri’s and the cutest top with it.  Then my other sister got Mom a beautiful card with a gift card in it to a nail salon to have a manicure and a pedicure too.  Mom thought that was wonderful.  Now she would look great in her new outfit with her nails and toes painted up all pretty.

Then came time for my gift.  I had it in a nice box wrapped up really pretty with a beautiful bow on it.  She gently pulled the bow off and carefully took the wrapping paper off just like she had done with the other presents.  She likes to save the wrapping paper and bows if she can.  When she opened the box, inside of it was a DVD of Casablanca, she was thrilled since that’s her favorite all time movie.  I told her to look under the DVD.  That’s when she found the bag of microwave popcorn.

As she picked it up with a smile, she saw the ‘grow a boyfriend’ figure under the popcorn.  “What in the world is this?” she asked.  I then told her that after she got all gussied up with my sisters gifts, she could put her new boyfriend in water and let him grow and then she would have a date for a movie and popcorn.  Then I handed her a 2 liter of Coke and told her that date would be complete.  Mom started laughing and everyone else was falling out of their chairs.  It was great!!  Mom loved all of her gifts.

Ceiling fans now!

Boy is Mom going all out or what?  Now she’s wanting to get new ceiling fans for the whole house.  It’s not like she doesn’t have ceiling fans in every room but since she’s redecorating, she needs to change the ceiling fans to match her new decor she says.  Some of the fans are pretty new too but she wants new ones so she’ll get new ones.

She has Hunter fans now and they’re really good fans.  I love them personally but she wants a change.  She said she just needed a change and was looking at the Casablanca ceiling fans and fell in love with them.  Casablanca has always been a favorite movie of hers in the first place and that’s the style she wants.  I fully expected for her to want something custom.  That’s the good thing about this online store, they’ll even make a custom ceiling fan to meet you specifications with all the bells and whistles you could want with it.  I wonder if I could get her to give me the fans she takes down?

I really need to learn to relax

I was sitting on the couch watching TV last night when I suddenly realized that I was sitting there with just about every muscle as tight as can be.  I wasn’t watching anything that would make me tense up like a scary movie or anything like that so I don’t have any idea at all why I was doing that.  I made myself relax and within a half hour, I realized I was back as tight as before.  What’s up with that?  I can’t figure it out.

You know I was telling you about a site where you could learn different Martial Arts online, well I really think I’m going to try the Tai Chi to see if I can stop this.  It’s not healthy to be sitting there all knotted up when you’re supposed to be relaxing, you know.  Now I just have to find the time.  You know, I bet I need to do that in the evenings before I go to bed.  It just might help me to rest better at night.

I need some new glasses

Yes I wear eyeglasses because I hate contacts.  They really bother my eyes so it’s glasses for me.  The best part of wearing prescription eyeglasses is you can now have more than one pair to go with your mood or your wardrobe.  You know how women are, they are never happy with just one of anything.  Did you know that you can find eyeglasses online at really great prices? Well you can and one of my favorite places to find them is ausspecs.   Eye Glasses should be more than just something to help you see better, they should show your style or personality too.

My father always called them Spectacles and I love it when he called them that.  I still smile when I see or hear that word because he was the only person I knew personally that called glasses spectacles.  Anyway, I just get a written prescription when I go to the eye doctor and then go to my favorite web site and I can get 2 pair of eyeglasses for $99.  They have beautiful stylish frames  and you can even get anti-reflective coating for free on them.  I also got tinted sunglasses.  That’s not all you can get either.  They deliver within a week and I won’t buy my glasses from my eye doctor anymore because he can’t match the prices at all.

I just realized that Mothers Day is Sunday!

I swear I thought it was next Sunday and I just realized that Mothers Day is THIS Sunday.  What in the world do you get for a woman that has everything, wants for nothing, and sending flowers just doesn’t seem to be nearly enough?  Well luckily my mother has a good sense of humor because I think I came up with the perfect gift.

See when I was on my way home from work, I had to stop and get gas.  In the little convenience store that I always get my gas, was a little “Grow a boyfriend” figure.  I sort of chuckled when I saw it and then came up with the idea that I would buy this for my mother, find a DVD of one of her favorite movies, a 2 liter of Coke and also give her a bag of microwave popcorn.  That way, she gets a date, a movie, a drink and popcorn for Mothers Day.  How’s that for a last minute gift?  I just hope she gets a good laugh out of it which I think she will.

My father taught me to protect myself

One thing I can say about our father is he made sure to teach each of us girls how to protect ourselves.  He was in the military and was taught some martial arts in there and in turn, taught us how to get away if someone was to grab us and other things like that.  I always wanted to take Karate lessons and found karate pictures online one day.  That rekindled my interest but you know how it is, you work all day, come home and fix something to eat and the last thing you want to do is go back out.

Luckily I bookmarked the site and went back to it a little later.  I found that the site is named  Martial Arts Tutor and you can actually learn Karate moves, Judo, Tai Chi, and all sorts of various Martial Arts.  There are a lot of Martial Arts articles, pictures, and even movies they’ll tell you about to help you learn.  I can learn any form of Martial Arts right in my home so that way, I have no excuse what-so-ever not to do a lesson.  In fact, I can view the same kick or whatever over and over until I get it right without feeling embarrassed that I didn’t get it as fast as someone else might have.  This is great!!!
