End of Summer Clearance Items

All the local stores have summer items on clearance now. There are some great bargains if you have the cash and want to store the things until Spring and next Summer. I found a great propane grill that was originally over $400 and it was marked down to only $135 at target. The clerk even knocked off another 10% because I got the last one and it was a floor model with no box. Now that’s a bargain!

Exotic Rides

Have you ever ridden on an exotic animal? There are pictures of me as a little girl riding horses, and then one day there was a circus and my parents paid for me to ride on an elephant. I barely remember that, but they took a couple of pictures, so I know it is true. If I can find those old photos I will scan them and put one up here so you can see I’m not lying. lol

Street Concerts

I miss the days when people would just block off a city street and have a party. We used to blockade the street by the community center and have a street dance on Friday nights. A local band would play for free or sometimes we had a DJ. It as a family event – all ages would show up and dance in the street. It was a great way to spend time with our neighbors and the parents did not have to worry about getting a babysitter to have fun.

Best Burgers

Last night I made the best burgers. I decided to take some ground chuck, not regular hamburger meat, and mix it with some chopped onions. Then I sprinkled a couple of heaping tablespoons of dry ranch dressing into the meat. I added some ketchup to the meat for moisture and put them on the grill. Wow – they turned out so tasty – finger smacking good!

My favorite burger toppings is a slice of fresh tomato, a dab of mustard and a thick slice of vidalia onion. If you happen to have some leaf lettuce handy, that is good, too.

GPS Help

Sometimes I really appreciate having a GPS in the car. Most of the time I know where I need to go. But sometimes I get stuck in traffic and need to find an alternate route. If I’m in a part of town that I don’t know very well, the GPS really comes in handy helping me find a way around the traffic snarl or accident, without making a lot of wrong turns or heading down dead end streets.

Proof in the Pictures

Yes! This is my photo from Sunday night’s graduation! My girlfriend, Lauren, took this photo and sent it to me.

I’m standing with my Study Buddy – I can’t tell you how much she helped me get through all the technical terms we had to learn. I’ll miss her and always be grateful for dozens of nights studying medical manuals.

Graduation

Graduation!

Tonight is the big night – I graduate from the technical school as a certified (or certifiable! lol) medical assistant. I’m so excited! It’s a real graduation ceremony, with everyone in my class wearing a white gown and that unique mortarboard hat!

I even ironed the gown – something I almost never do anymore. I bought a pretty sleeveless party dress to wear out to the celebration dinner after the ceremony. This is my big night!

Studying for Exams

Tonight is the big cram session. We have exams coming up and this is the only night I have 4 straight hours to spend on studying. I think I learned most of the important stuff as we went along, but I always get nervous on tests and exams. So I’m reading through all of my notes and using a highlighter to help the information sink in deeper. I hope.

Movie Prices are Outrageous

Its been ages since I went to the movies in a real theater. But I really wanted to do something fun and different, and there are bunches of new movies coming out that look really promising. I know that all of them will be out on DVD just in time for Christmas, but I don’t want to wait that long for all of them.

I went with my Study Buddy from school as a treat to say thank you for all her help and moral support during these classes. This past month has been the hardest – its like they are rushing us to get through it all and I’m starting to panic about not only learning the new material but remembering everything else they taught me over the past 2 years.

So we went to the new theaters out in Providence Shopping Center and each ticket was 16. Sixteen Bucks! This is too much! I can buy the DVD for $16 bucks and watch it over and over again as much as I want. The movie theaters have go to charge less money for a ticket if they want me to come back again.
