Mom’s going all out on redecorating

My mother is amazing me with the things she’s doing with her home.  The part that’s really amazing me is most of the things she’s getting, she found online.  She’s becoming quite the Internet shopper.  She has found some of the best deals on home furnishings and home decor.   I had no idea she was becoming so proficient on finding so many good deals online.

She got new linens and bedding for her bedroom.   The new comforter she got is beautiful.  It really set the room off if you know what I mean.  She even found the therapeutic pillows like she likes and has to sleep with.  She keeps a set of bed pillows with the shams on them that matches her comforter that she puts on top of her pillows and it looks great.

She found the prettiest new lamps for the living room too.  They really changed the look of the whole room.  Mom is great with home accessories.   I wish I could look at something online like she can and find just the right place for them.  I do good to find the right desk lamp.  Maybe there’s still a lot to learn from Mom!!

$50 Lesson

My cousin just sent this to me in an email. I thought it was funny. No I’m not a dedicated Republican or Democrat either. I vote for the person not the party, just so you know.

I recently asked my friend’s little girl what she wanted to be when she grows up. She said she wanted to be President some day. Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there, so I asked her, ‘If you were President what would be the first thing you would do? ‘She replied, ‘I’d give food and houses to all the homeless people.’ Her parents beamed.

‘Wow…what a worthy goal’, I told her. ‘But you don’t have to wait until you’re President to do that. You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and sweep my yard, and I’ll pay you $50. Then I’ll take you over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house.’

She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, ‘Why doesn’t the homeless guy come over and do the work,and you can just pay him the $50?’ I said, ‘Welcome to the Republican Party’.

Her parents still aren’t speaking to me.

Stocks might be scary right now

With all of the mess dealing with the stock market and the banks not doing so well either, online trading might be the last thing you would want to consider.  Well it’s never too late to get started saving for retirement either and I’m sure a lot of people have lost a lot of their retirement they thought was secure.  I have heard a lot of economist say that now is the time to buy stocks.  Maybe you should check into online trading.

I’ve been checking into an online broker and have learned a lot about stocks from them.  I honestly wish I knew and understood more but these guys are working real hard to help me understand all of this.  Stock trading was always my fathers thing and when I had questions, he would explain it to me.  Since he’s gone now, I have to trust someone else and I think I have found them.  Maybe they have something to offer you too.  It’s worth a shot to at least check it out.

You have got to see this!!

A friend of mine recommended I check this video out but she also suggested I read the following before I watched the video. It is almost unbelievable. Watch how all of the balls wind up in catcher cones.

This incredible machine was built as a collaborative effort between the Robert M. Trammell Music Conservatory and the Sharon Wick School of Engineering at the University of Iowa. Amazingly, 97% of the machines components came from John Deere Industries and Irrigation Equipment of Bancroft, Iowa — farm equipment!

It took the team a combined 13,029 hours of set-up, alignment, calibration, and tuning before filming this video but as you can see it was WELL worth the effort. It is now on display in the Matthew Gerhard Alumni Hall at the University and is already slated to be donated to the Smithsonian.

Sometimes I hate my computer!

You’re sitting in front of this thing that holds so much of your life within it just typing along and all of a sudden…………..nothing.  I have had this happen to me and I was absolutely horrified.  I called the computer manufacturer, the store I purchased my computer from and even my friendly computer geek and no one could help me.  I thought for sure all was lost and that was just hard for me to cope with.  Sure I back up everything but not always on a disk and besides, when the darn thing crashes to the point it says there’s no operating system, what the heck do you do?  Personally, I cried.

I just wish I had known about Data Recovery and how a simple disk can get your computer back along with all of the data you have stored on your computer.  It’s a lot cheaper to buy one of their many disks to recover whatever it is you have lost than it is to buy a new computer and then try to find everything you had on the one that crashed and get it back on the new computer.  Sometimes the cause is your own fault and sometimes it’s a virus but whatever the causes, they have a program that will solve your problem.

Boy was I surprised!!!

Did you watch Dancing with the Stars last night.  It was the results show where they send someone home and I was absolutely surprised at who was voted off.  It was Julianne and Chuck.  I really thought that Ty would be sent home even though I think he’s doing great but he’s just not as good as the others.  Chuck and Julianne were better than Ty and Chelsea but I guess there were more cowboys calling in and voting than country music fans.  You never know who will go and who will stay.  Sometimes it’s not the worst dancer, ya know!

Cousin in England has some really cute clothes

My cousin that lives in England came for a visit and I swear she has some of the cutest clothes I have seen in a long time.  You know how us girls are about clothes.  We had a blast going through each others clothes and sharing them just like we used to do when we were teenagers.  Luckily we are still the same size just like always so I got the pleasure of wearing some of her clothes.  I had to ask where they came from so she got on my computer and brought up Plus Size Clothing where she shops for most of her clothes.

No neither of us are what you would call ‘large ladies’ but we are built a bit large with broad shoulders so plus size clothes fit our shoulders and body type better than other sizes.  The ‘Homespun’ collection is my favorite.  It’s sort of like back in the 70’s type styles and I love those style of clothes.  They’re comfortable and have a ‘free’ look to them if that makes any sense to you.  The ‘Bohemian’ collection is perfect for an evening out or for work too.  My cousin and I have the same taste in clothes so she let me purchase some of her clothes and she’ll buy them again for herself when she gets back home.  I really need to learn how to convert their money into ours so I can buy from their site too.

Can you believe what they did to these Poodles?

There was an extreme grooming competition and you would not believe what they did to some of these poodles.  If you have ever had a poodle and taken them to the groomers, you can tell they know they look good by the way they prance around after getting groomed.  Well I wonder if these dogs pranced around or tried to hide from embarrassment.  I personally think they would be embarrassed!  I was embarrassed for some of them myself but some of them were really awesome.  See for yourself.

I love our neighborhood

One of the things I love about our neighborhood is the fact that there are a lot of really big trees.  They didn’t bulldoze down all of the trees to build the neighborhood and then plant a bunch of little trees.  I hate it when they do that.  With the old trees left in tact, there are also a lot of animals and birds throughout the neighborhood.  I absolutely love to watch the squirrels play in the trees and on the ground.  The only problem I have with them is they love my bird feeders.  I feed more squirrels than I do birds.  I also have a squirrel feeder but they don’t only eat their food, they like the bird food too.

Well I needed something to keep them away from my bird feeders and not hurt the squirrels.  I tried putting Vaseline on the pole and that worked for a short time.  Then I found a squirrel repellent that won’t hurt them but keep them away from what I want them away from.  This stuff works great.  In fact, it will keep a lot of unwanted animals away like skunks too.  My best friend had a skunk in her back yard and boy was he a stinker.  He sprayed my dog when we were visiting.  Since she got this repellent, no more stinker!!!

With spring busting out everywhere, it brings to my mind this video that I had gotten.  Life is so precious and so beautiful as is nature but the things we take as the 7 wonders of the world are all man made in some form or another.  Watch this and you’ll see the 7 wonders a bit differently.  I sure did!!!!
