I love dogs

I have had dogs for most of my life.  Right now I’m dog-less though and I hate it.  I have had everything from a mutt to some of the best pedigreed dogs there are, one of which was a German Shepherd Dog who’s parents had been imported from Checzlovakia.  Her grandmother was and still is one of the most highly decorated border patrol dogs and is still working from what I understand.  It really hurt me when she died.  Her name was Keziah.  I named all of the German Shepherds I had from the Bible because I considered them blessings.

Well it seems that AKC has put out their top 10 breeds.  Here they are:

  1. Labrador Retriever
  2. Yorkie
  3. German Shepherd
  4. Golden Retriever
  5. Beagle
  6. Boxer
  7. Dachshund
  8. Bull Dog
  9. Poodle
  10. Shih Tzu

I have had all of these dogs except for the Bull Dog, Golden Retriever and Labrador Retriever.  My favorite of the ones I had were the German Shepherd first, then the Beagle, then the Dachshund.  I am planning to get another dog this summer and the one I want and have had before is the West Highland White Terrier or Westie for short.  I love that breed.  They will not let you be sad at all because they are always so happy and comical.  I’m surprised they’re not on the list.

Canvas Awnings

I have been checking into canvas awnings since I went to a friends house in New York State.  Canvas awnings were added to their back patio for a sun shield and made all the difference in the world in how much they could use it. In the summer, it gets too hot sometimes and that heat radiates on their patio doors and makes their interior hotter too.  Then in the winter, they have a patio fireplace and with the awning, they can use the space more as it helps hold the heat from the fireplace better and can be used as a wind blocker to keep your home warmer too.

They were telling me about Roll Out Awnings which would be perfect for my patio but I don’t live in that area.  With the roll out awnings, you can roll them out when you need them or if you want the sun, you just leave them rolled up.  That helps to make your patio or deck more functional and will probably have you out on your deck or patio more.

She even had Door Hoods added on her basement and side doors so when it rains and they use those doors, they’re is a cover over them. That allows you to open and close your umbrella outside instead of inside.  You’re adding value to your home, space that is used more and they look great too.  Now I have to find someone close to where I live to install some on my townhouse.

Parents lose custody because of childrens names

In Holland Township, New Jersey, three children were taken from their parents because the parents named the three little girls Nazi names of all things.  There was a little girl taken from her parents in New Zealand and the courts changed the childs name.  Her name was ‘Talula does the hula in Hawaii’.  But this one beats her name.

Holland Township Police Sgt. John Harris said workers from the state Division of Youth and Family Services removed 3-year-old Adolf Hitler Campbell and his younger sisters, JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell and Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell, from their home Tuesday.

The children and their parents, Heath and Deborah Campbell, received attention last month when a supermarket bakery refused to put Adolf Hitler Campbell’s name on a birthday cake.

I do believe a parent has a right to name a child what ever they want to name that child but for crying out loud, Adolf Hitler Campbell?  It’s sort of like Frank Zappa naming his kids Moon Unit, Dweezel and Motorhead.  He has a right but at least the names weren’t  names that are associated with so much hate like the Nazi names these people gave their children………..daughters to be exact.

I love decorating

I have always loved decorating with Stainless Steel because it looks so clean and polished.  I found the most perfect stainless steel mailbox for my townhouse online.  With stainless steel, I won’t have to replace it again in a few years like plain old painted medal mailboxes.  Sure I paid more for it but it will save me a lot of money in the end.  They have several styles of blomus stainless steel mailboxes if you’re interested in something like that too.

I’m lucky enough to also have a fireplace in my townhouse.  Nothing warms you better than a nice fire on a cold day but a fireplace is more than that.  It should be a focal point in your room.  Well I got stainless steel fireplace accessories for my fireplace and it really set the room off.  I have the tool set, wood rack and even the glass fireplace screen.  It’s beautiful.

On my patio I also have blomus stainless steel fireplace accessories for my stainless steel fire pit that mount on my wall.  so I can enjoy my patio on cooler days too.  You can even buy stainless steel fireplaces that burn bio-ethanol fuel and is mounted right on your wall.  That makes me wish I didn’t have a build in fireplace so I could get one of those.  I like trying to help the environment and that would.

Well HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!!!

Don’t you just love birthdays?  Especially When it’s someone else that’s getting older and not you.  Only problem is the older they get, the older you get.  Funny how that happens isn’t it?  Well today is my Mothers birthday and no I can’t tell you how old she is but she’ going down the other side of the hill now for sure.  Sorry Mom!!!  You know I love ya, mean it!!!

Mom has a good sense of humor unless you do something she doesn’t like at all like tell her name.  Oh we can hint about being over the hill like I just did and she thinks that’s funny but we better not tell just how far she is over that hill if you know what I mean.  She’s a spunky lady and always has been.  We learned pretty young not to push her because she’ll push back.

I just wanted to let you know just how much I love you and admire you.  You are my inspiration, my hope, my friend and most of all, my mother. You have encouraged me to be what I am today and for that, I thank you.  So Happy Birthday and I hope to share many more with you.

What an historic day

Today will go down in history for sure.  Not only do we have a new President, but he is a bi-racial of African decent.  I think it’s wrong to simply call him an African-American President.  He’s much more than that.  His father was an immigrant from Kenya, Africa but his mother was white.  But none of that really matters in all reality and when we can quit putting labels on everyone, then we will have a much better world.

We judge people too much by the labels we place up on them.  Gay, Lesbian, Catholic, Baptist, Muslim, White, Black (or African-American) and the list goes on and on.  We are all Americans.  We should not be divided by Irish-Americans, African-American, German-American or anything like that which only serves to divide our country.  We are Americans.  The only true American is the many tribes of American Indians.  We are all of some decent but who we are are Americans and I hope that with the new President, that sentiment will ring!!!!!

I bet you know someone going

I can just about bet that most people know someone that will be there when our new President is sworn in.  I know of several people that will be there.  I don’t care that much for crowds so I’ll just watch it on TV or see it on the evening news.  I can feel so much excitement in the air too.  Everyone is looking so much to Barack Obama being President that it’s amazing.

It might be that everyone is so excited that George W. Bush won’t be in there anymore too.  I’ve heard that a lot too.  One things for sure, I wouldn’t want the job.  Our new President has so much on his plate right from the word ‘go’ that the poor man probably won’t get much sleep the first several months in office.  I sure wish him all the luck in the world.

I really think that if anyone can straighten out the many messes we are in, he’s the man that can do it.  At least I hope and pray he is the man that can do it.  A lot of people have placed their faith in him and expect a lot of him.  I think he can handle most anything that comes at him.

Here comes the snow

Well we haven’t had much snow for the past few year and now they are talking about 2 to 4 inches arriving on Monday evening.  I sure hope it’s not snowing in Washington DC for Tuesday.  I really hope it’s not that cold because I’m sure there are going to be rather large crowds there to see Barack Obama sworn into office.

Why wouldn’t they be after all?  It’s history unfolding right before our eyes.  I have seen a little history and didn’t really like what I saw but this time, I will enjoy this history making moment.  Dr. King would be so proud. I only wish he could have been here to see this day.  It would have been even better if his wife could have seen it.  Then she would have known beyond the benefit of a doubt that her husband didn’t die for absolutely nothing.  He died so this day could be possible.

I have had the worst day in a long time

First of all, I got up late.  I don’t know why or even how.  I had my alarm set but it didn’t go off this morning so that threw me late for work by an hour.  I hate to be late.  Once I got there, I realized that I had put on two different shoes.  Real cute looking too.  One was black and the other was brown.  It’s not like you couldn’t tell.  Then about an hour after I got there, I realized that I had forgotten to put on any deodorant.  Perfect!!

I had to run out to the closest store at lunch and buy some to put on.  While I was leaving the store, my dress got caught on one of their shelves and ripped my dress up the side about 5 inches.  Great, I wouldn’t have had to buy deodorant and pay three times what I usually do if I had known I was going to have to go home and change my clothes.

I was late getting back from lunch because of going home and changing so fast and guess what, I forgot to change my shoes so I’m still walking around in two different shoes.  Then on the way home, some nice person dropped just about everything they had loaded in the back of their truck on the road and I was stuck for about 45 minutes before they got one lane clear so we could get home.  I went straight to bed when I got there.

It has gotten so darn cold

I’m not one that likes cold weather.  I should live somewhere where it stays around 70 degrees year around but there’s no such place.  If I lived where it’s around 70 degrees in the winter, then it’s so darn hot in the summer that you can’t hardly breathe.  I guess I am like everyone else and just can’t be totally satisfied with anything.

I know, I need a summer home and a winter home.  I need a summer home in Phoenix Arizona.  I don’t think it gets that cold in the winter there but then I need a summer home in maybe Denver Colorado.  I don’t think it gets very hot there in the summer.  I need to win the lottery if that’s the case.  Wait a minute, you have to buy tickets to win that, don’t you?
