My cousin had Lasik sugery

I have a cousin that lives in Texas.  She has worn glasses since I can remember and finally got the nerve up to check into having Lasik surgery.  Someone told her that if she was going to have that done, then she should check out Jack Holladay because he’s the best around and just might be considered one of the best period.  Well since it was her vision she was thinking about having something done on, she decided she better check into the doctor to make sure she didn’t get a second rate doctor.

It seems that this is not one of those that claims to be all that.  This doctor is one of the best.  In fact, he’s had over 50 peer reviewed articles published so that says a lot right there.  Not only that but he’s also the past president of an international association of Lasik doctors.  That’s not national but international.  He’s also certified by nonprofit patient advocacy which is wonderful too.  Oh and get this, Jack Holladay teaches other doctors how to perform Lasik so with all of that in mind, he not only talks the talk but also walks the walk as they say.  If I decide to have that done, I’ll be going there too.

My boss is losing his hair

Bless his heart, he’s trying really hard not to let anyone see it but he’s starting to get that thinning on the back of his head at his crown.  You’ve all seen those men that only have thin hair on the back of their head.  It’s funny to see how they comb their hair to try and cover it up.  My boss is always going into the bathroom and stays for quite awhile and I know he’s checking to see if his balding spot is showing because all of a sudden, there’s a hand held mirror in the men’s rest room.

All he needs to do is check out toppik online. A friend of mind told me that her father uses their products and it has really helped his hair not look as thin.  She said they have all sorts of different products from a-z for not only hair loss but skin care too.  That’s how her father learned about the products.  They have good prices and a great discount prices on just about all of their products.  They also have super fast delivery but how in the world would I let my boss know about it without embarrassing him?

What were they thinking?

I just read the funniest article on today.msnbc.msn.com.  It was about some of the strange names people give their children.  I thought Frank Zappa held the record for the weirdest names to name a child between Moon Unit, Dweezle and Motorhead but some of these make those names almost sound normal.

The worst, most humiliating baby names

Ancestry.com shares the silliest, craziest and downright cruelest names of all time.

What would compel a parent to bestow a newborn with a name like “Tiny Hooker” or “Fanny Large”? Or an amusing choice like “Wanna Towell”? It’s not just Hollywood’s elite opting for unique, embarrassing names-throughout history, normal people separated their offspring from the masses with truly terrible names.

In “Bad Baby Names,” Michael Sherrod and Matthew Rayback, of the genealogy Web site Ancestry.com, share thousands of shocking names given to real people, as recorded by the U.S. Census Bureau. Discover the funny names based around common themes, like diseases (Fever Bender, Cholera Peace), food (Bread White, Pomegranate Purple), pets (Good Dog), and if you thought Wednesday Addams was unfortunate-wait till you meet Monday Monday.

I just don’t get it.  Don’t these parents realize what they are setting their child up for when they get school age?  They will be teased and humiliated by their classmates.  Is that what they want for their child?  I sure wouldn’t.

I resolve to take a great vacation this summer

How’s that for a New Years resolution?  I think it sounds like a pretty darn good one to me because if I’m going to have a better year than last year, I really need to do something special for myself.  That’s what the resolution is really all about after all.  I need to start doing more things for me and only me instead of everyone else and everything else.  I have worked hard on my townhouse to make it look nice and homey so why shouldn’t I do something for me too?

Now where do I want to go?  I got it!!!  How about Orlando, Florida?  That sounds wonderful to me.  I have some family down around that area that I haven’t seen in years and while I’m there, I could visit family too.  I’ll have to check out Orlando vacation rentals because I don’t want to just stay anywhere. I prefer to stay in a really nice condo or maybe even a villa. A house would be great too. Just as long as I’m not stuck in a darned old motel for a couple weeks. I would rather stay at home if I had to do that.

I have checked out vacation rentals before and have never been disappointed with what I found before.  You can rent anything from a studio type apartment to a house that sleeps more people than you might want to go on vacation with.  The perfect vacation to me is where I can go to Disney World, Sea World or any of the other places close by and not have to drive 50 miles there and back.  It’s up to you how much you want to spend on your accommodations but I bet you’ll find just what you want and need just like I have.

That wonderful hat!!!!

Check out what’s going on about Aretha Franklins hat she wore to the inaugration.  I thought it was great but I have heard a lot about it in both ways.  Anyway, check out this:

From the moment it appeared at the inauguration, Aretha Franklin’s hat, with its oversize woolen bow bejeweled with Swarovski crystals, has invited commentary. It has its own Facebook page. It has been the subject of YouTube spoofs. Its designer reportedly received 3,000 requests for copies. But now things are getting serious. The Smithsonian Institution – you know, home of the Mercury capsule and a triceratops – wants the hat. The Queen of Soul’s response: I’m thinking about it.

I think that’s quite an honor for her.  At least none of these museums called her wanting it:

Far stranger things have landed in museums, or had museums dedicated to them. So we started searching for some candidates.

In the wearables category, if you’re just interested in hats, there are thousands at The Hat Museum. And the Liberace Museum may have more spangles than … well … anything on Earth. Sometimes the sheer breadth of a collection is what gets noticed. Amass more than 9,000 picture postcards, and you too may find your collection at the New York Met, where it’s now showing.

It goes without saying that there’s a banana museum, but once you get into virtual museums, things really get weird. Consider the Air Sickness Bag Museum. Less disgusting, check out these collections of moist towelettes and Soviet calculators. Add that to your virtual travel itinerary, comrade.

Anyway, here’s to Aretha and her hat.  You gotta love it!!!!

This is interesting

The great writer, O. Henry, began life as William Sidney Porter.  Porter spent time in Honduras to avoid embezzlement charges in the United States.  He eventually returned to the United States and spent time in jail, which is where he began writing the adventure stories that made him famous.

There seems to be a lot of people that have become famous after pulling time in jail like Johnny Cash, Johnny Paycheck, and a lot of other country singers.  I didn’t know about o. Henry though.

Have you ever vacationed in Naples?

A Naples vacation I can promise you will end up being the best vacation you have ever been on.  I didn’t stay in a stuffy old motel either.  I rented a villa and believe it or not, saved money.  It was so much more comfortable, a lot roomier, and like I said earlier, I saved money too.

They have houses, villas, or condos you can rent for your vacation.  We got free WiFi, fresh towels and linens, multiple bedrooms,a roomy kitchen, easy access to the beach, great views of the ocean, and best of all, your not in a motel but a home.  We already have reservations for this year too.

This information might come in handy some day

When it comes to baseball star Cy Young, he holds two unique titles.  The Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher holds the record for the most career wins of 511.  That’s amazing isn’t it?  Well here’s the truly amazing title he also holds.

Cy Young also holds the record for the most game loses of 316.  How about that?  I just thought it might be something you could use one day, especially you ladies out there.  Amaze your man with your knowledge of a baseball star like Cy Young.

What Daddy taught me

I believe that credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.
I believe that you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life.

I believe that it’s taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.

I believe that maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you’ve had and what you’ve learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays you’ve celebrated.

I believe that it isn’t always enough, to be forgiven by others. Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.
I believe that you shouldn’t be so eager to find out a secret. It could change your life Forever.

I believe two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different.

Why do I believe all of these things? Because that’s what my Daddy taught me and he taught me well.  He was a very wise man, don’t you think?  I sure do.
