Did you hear about this?

Did you hear about the two private christian school girls basketball teams in Dallas, Texas that played a game and the bigger school won the basketball game by 100 to 0?  Well the girls on the winning team decided they needed to apologize to the other team for running the score up like that.  That’s what you call ‘good sportsmanship’ and I’m sure their parents are very proud of them for issuing an apology like that.

You would think that their coach would be proud of the but no…………he was anything but proud of them.

The coach of a Texas high school basketball team that beat another team 100-0 was fired Sunday, the same day he sent an e-mail to a newspaper saying he will not apologize “for a wide-margin victory when my girls played with honor and integrity.”

Kyle Queal, the headmaster for Covenant School, said in The Dallas Morning News online edition that he could not answer if the firing was a direct result of coach Micah Grimes’ e-mail disagreeing with administrators who called the blowout “shameful.

On its Web site last week, Covenant, a private Christian school, posted a statement regretting the outcome of its Jan. 13 shutout win over Dallas Academy. “It is shameful and an embarrassment that this happened. This clearly does not reflect a Christlike and honorable approach to competition,” said the statement, signed by Queal and board chair Todd Doshier.

That’s just what I was thinking when I read about the story.  That wasn’t very ‘Christian like’.  I have heard of sore losers but never sore winners.  The coach should have been fired after sending out that e-mail. That makes me even more proud of the girls and the school too.  Now both teams are winners if you ask me.

I think I’ll order Mom some good vitamins too

In case you can’t tell, I do love my mother and want nothing more than to keep her around for many more years.  One good way to sort of assure that is with good quality natural vitamins.  I take beta glucan and it does make me feel better since I started taking them. I bet they would help Mom to feel better and have more energy too.  This is sort of one of those times when you might be wondering who’s the mother and who’s the daughter, huh?  Well even daughters try to take care of their mothers too, you know!!  That’s all I’m trying to do is keep her around and healthy as long as possible!

Cars in ditches everywhere

It looks like I’m not the only one that didn’t want snow this time of year.  I have seen more cars in ditches in the past couple of days than I have seen any other time it has snowed around here this winter.  In fact, it wouldn’t be a far stretch to say I have probably seen more in ditches in the past two days than I have all winter combined.

I guess body shops and tow companies are happy but I know for a fact that the owners of the cars aren’t.  I wonder if the insurance companies are happy or not?  Who knows with them.  They’re probably happy because now they have a good reason to raise peoples rates.

Oh no!!! Snow!!!!

I love winter snow but what’s supposed to be the start of spring, doesn’t include snow for me.  I’m sick of cold weather.  My daffodils were getting ready to bloom and now I don’t know if they will or not because they’re covered by snow.  Bummer huh?  I think so.

I need to move somewhere where it’s warm all year long.  I can’t really do that because all of my friends and family are here but that doesn’t stop me from dreaming about it, ya know?  Maybe some day I will.  Probably not unless I meet Mr. Wonderful and he gets a job somewhere warm, then I’ll go but the chances of that…..well who knows?

Summer camp anyone?

When I was younger I used to love to go to summer camp.  I went to girl scout camp and any other camp I could find.  I had a blast too.  There’s one camp I would have loved to go to that they didn’t have back then.  It’s one of the best summer camps I have ever heard of.  They way I found out was that a friend of mine sent her daughter there last summer and she’s begging to go back this year.  It’s a summer ski camp.  How awesome is that?  Sort of makes you wish you were a kid again, ya know.  I wonder if I could fool them and go anyway?  I bet not.

Got left over rice?

When I cook rice and yes I cook real rice and not instant or in that pouch either, but if you have leftover rice, try this with it.  I make fried rice with my leftover rice.  It’s really simple and good too.  It makes a great lunch or even a quick dinner if you want.

Here’s what I do.  I heat my pan with cooking spray in it.  Chop up some onions (if you like onions, put more, if not don’t put much in it).  For me, I love onions so for about a cup of rice, I add about a forth of a cup of chopped onions and put them in the pan to cook slightly.  Then I put in my rice and stir it around to mix the onions into the rice.  I let that cook while stirring it almost constantly in the hot pan for about 5 minutes.

Have 2 eggs beaten up in a cup ready to put into them but first you add soy sauce (that depends on your taste too but at least a tablespoon or more) to the rice mixture in the pan and sprinkle with some garlic powder.  Mix all of the ingredients well and make an area in the middle of the rice for the egg.  Pour the beaten eggs in the ‘hole’ and mix everything well while the egg cooks.  Once the egg is cooked, you have fried rice.  You can also add any meat you happen to have left over before you add the egg too.  Add a salad or steamed broccoli and you have a good meal that’s cheap too.  Try it sometime.

I didn’t realize allergies could be deadly

I’ve been around people with allergies and thought that basically, they consisted of sneezing, coughing, runny nose and itchy eyes.  Well I found out the hard way that they are a lot worse than that to some people.  One of the ladies that works in our office has ‘severe allergies’.  Now that everything is trying to come out, her eye will swell completely shut and she has even had to use an epi-pin on herself too.

If you don’t know what an epi-pin is, it’s a thing that you have to hit yourself in the leg with and a needle comes out and injects you with medication.  This is used when someone is having an anaphylactic reaction or in other words, their throat is closing up and they can’t breathe.  Once this is done, the person has to go to a hospital or their doctor at least.  Scared the bee-jeebies out of everyone in the office.  I honestly had no idea that allergies could be like that.

I got new bedroom furniture

Well I finally decided on what new bedroom suite I wanted and it’s being delivered tomorrow.  I was surprised that they would agree to deliver on a Saturday but they did.  It sure helped me out because I don’t have to take any time off of work to be here for them to deliver it.  Isn’t that wonderful!!!

Well I have decided to donate my old bedroom suite to the Crisis Ministries close to where I live.  That way, it can help a family in need of furniture.  I just can’t see giving it away to someone that doesn’t really need it.  I was taught as a child that you help those in need so that’s what I hope my old furniture will do, help someone in honest need.  It feels good to think that I might be able to help someone in need and there are a lot of people out there in this day in time that are in need.

I had no idea

There’s a new young lady at work that had moved out here from California.  She’s a really nice person and has proven to be a big asset at work.  She’s on the ball too.  If there’s something that needs to be done, she sees it and gets to it without being told to do anything.  Well we were talking yesterday and I asked her what in the world would make her want to move from California to the east coast.  Her answer almost shocked me.

You see, she was living in Malibu but found herself having to go through Drug Detox.  She had been in a car accident and gotten addicted to pain killers as a result.  It escalated to the point that she checked herself into a Drug Rehab facility there.  She just didn’t seem like the ‘type’ of person that was a drug addict but that ‘type’ is no longer true.  There is no ‘type’ of person that is a drug addict.  It can be even you if you ever find yourself in need of pain medications.  Even Alcohol Treatment isn’t just for a ‘type’ of person anymore.  Thank goodness more and more people are seeking treatment and this is a wonderful treatment center.

This email made me stop and think

My aunt is always sending me ‘religious’ type emails.  I do enjoy getting them too and this one really made me stop and think.  It shows how a lot of the time, we don’t realize how much we can touch someone, make a difference in their lives and maybe give them just a little hope.  No I am not a religious fanatic but this one touched me.  Enjoy because I sure did.

The Pastor and his son –

Every Sunday afternoon, after the morning service at the church, the Pastor and his eleven year old son would go out into their town and hand out Gospel Tracts. This particular Sunday afternoon, as it came time for the Pastor and his son to go to the streets with their tracts, it was very cold outside, as well as pouring down rain.

The boy bundled up in his warmest and driest clothes and said, ‘OK, dad, I’m ready.’ His Pastor dad asked, ‘Ready for what?’ ‘Dad, it’s time we gather our tracts together and go out.’ Dad responds, ‘Son, it’s very cold outside and it’s pouring down rain.’

The boy gives his dad a surprised look, asking, ‘But Dad, aren’t people still in need, even though it’s raining?’ Dad answers, ‘Son, I am not going out in this weather.’ Despondently, the boy asks, ‘Dad, can I go? Please’

His father hesitated for a moment then said, ‘Son, you can go. Here are the tracts, be careful son.’ ‘Thanks Dad!’ and with that, he was off and out into the rain. This eleven year old boy walked the streets of the town going door to door and handing everybody he met in the street a Gospel Tract.

After two hours of walking in the rain, he was soaking, bone-chilled wet and down to his VERY LAST TRACT. He stopped on a corner and looked for someone to hand a tract to, but the streets were totally deserted.

Then he turned toward the first home he saw and started up the sidewalk to the front door and rang the door bell. He rang the bell, but nobody answered. He rang it again and again, but still no one answered. He waited but still no answer. Finally, this eleven year old trooper turned to leave, but something stopped him.

Again, he turned to the door and rang the bell and knocked loudly on the door with his fist. He waited, something holding him there on the front porch! He rang again and this time the door slowly opened.

Standing in the doorway was a very sad-looking elderly lady. She softly asked, ‘What can I do for you, son?’ With radiant eyes and a smile that lit up her world, this little boy said, ‘Ma’am, I’m sorry if I disturbed you, but I just want to tell you that *JESUS REALLY DOES LOVE YOU* and I came to give you my very last Gospel Tract which will tell you all about JESUS and His great LOVE.’

With that, he handed her his last tract and turned to leave. She called to him as he departed. ‘Thank you, son! And God Bless You!’

Well, the following Sunday morning in church Pastor Dad was in the pulpit. As the service began, he asked, ‘Does anybody have testimony or want to say anything?’ Slowly, in the back row of the church, an elderly lady stood to her feet.

As she began to speak, a look of glorious radiance came from her face, ‘No one in this church knows me. I’ve never been here before. You see, before last Sunday I was not a Christian. My husband passed on some time ago, leaving me totally alone in this world. Last Sunday, being a particularly cold and rainy day, it was even more so in my heart that I came to the end of the line where I no longer had any hope or will to live.

So I took a rope and a chair and ascended the stairway into the attic of my home. I fastened the rope securely to a rafter in the roof, then stood on the chair and fastened the other end of the rope around my neck. Standing on that chair, so lonely and brokenhearted I was about to leap off, when suddenly the loud ringing of my doorbell downstairs startled me. I thought,I’ll wait a minute, and whoever it is will go away.’

I waited and waited, but the ringing doorbell seemed to get louder and more insistent, and then the person ring in g also started knocking loudly. I thought to myself again, ‘Who on earth could this be? Nobody ever rings my bell or comes to see me.’ I loosened the rope from my neck and started for the front door, all the while the bell rang louder and louder.

When I opened the door and looked I could hardly believe my eyes, for there on my front porch was the most radiant and angelic little boy I had ever seen in my life. His SMILE, oh, I could never describe it to you! The words that came from his mouth caused my heart that had long been dead, TO LEAP TO LIFE as he exclaimed with a cherub-like voice, ‘Ma’am, I just came to tell you that JESUS REALLY DOES LOVE YOU.’ Then he gave me this Gospel Tract that I now hold in my hand.

As the little angel disappeared back out into the cold and rain, I closed my door and read slowly every word of this Gospel Tract. Then I went up to my attic to get my rope and chair. I wouldn’t be needing them any more.

You see– -I am now a Happy Child of the KING. Since the address of your church was on the back of this Gospel Tract, I have come here to personally say THANK YOU to God’s little angel who came just in the nick of time and by so doing, spared my soul from an eternity in hell.’

There was not a dry eye in the church. And as shouts of praise and honor to THE KING resounded off the very rafters of the building, Pastor Dad descended from the pulpit to the front pew where the little angel was seated.
He took his son in his arms and sobbed uncontrollably.

Probably no church has had a more glorious moment, and probably this universe has never seen a Papa that was more filled with love & honor for his son…. Except for One. Our Father also allowed His Son to go out into a cold and dark world. He received His Son back with joy unspeakable, and as all of heaven shouted praises and honor to The King, the Father sat His beloved Son on a throne far above all principality and power and every name that is named.
