I’m so proud of my friend

I have always thought my friend acted a bit odd from time to time but thought it was just her. You know, every one’s different in different situations. Some days I’m really quiet and other days, well I’m wide open. She has been that way since our junior year in high school. I just thought maybe she was ‘blossoming’ since she was usually pretty shy. It wasn’t blossoming though. It was drugs.

She called me today and told me that she has a cocaine addiction. Cocaine!!! I was shocked. I didn’t know what to say. Then she told me that she was going for treatment for her addiction. I almost cried I was so proud of her. She’s a great person and has a really good family that is standing behind her all the way. That’s a lot more than some families would do.

The treatment center she’s going to is a really good treatment center too. I wouldn’t expect her family to send her to anything but a good one. I made sure to let her know just how proud of her I was for admitting she had a problem and going to get help. That’s a huge step in the right direction. I promised her that I would write her at least once a week while she’s gone.

Didn’t I see that the doll Barbi just turned 50?  Well she has aged way too good.  To celebrate, they need to make a new Barbi.  A friend of mine sent me this picture and I thought it was perfect and just had to share.

Remodeling is good I guess

I haven’t said anything to my mother yet but I really wish she would leave the beach house alone and not remodel it.  That was Daddy’s favorite place in the world and I can still smell him there.  When I really miss him and need to feel close to him, that’s where I go.  He did a lot of the work on the house himself and it has his special touches like that plug that’s half way up the wall in the middle of nowhere.  I think that’s what you might call a home having character.  I call it what makes a home a home even if it is a vacation home.  I bet that plug is one of the first things Mom will do away with too.

More lost in shootings?

What is going on in this country?  I just don’t understand why someone would walk into a nursing home and start killing innocent elderly people like that man in North Carolina did last week.  Now today there’s a man that walked into an immigration office and up to 13 people have died from that shooting.  There for awhile it was people that worked in the post office that was walking into where they worked and killing people and that’s how we got the stupid saying of “Going Postal’ on someone.  Then it was in the schools that students were walking into and just killing as many people as they could.  Now it seems like this can happen at any time at any place.  I just don’t understand what’s going on at all.  Isn’t life precious to anyone anymore?

Not a good sign if you ask me

I was just reading where 1 in 10 Americans is now on food stamps.  That’s absolutely awful.  That to me shows how much trouble our economy is in.  It’s not like the tremendous job losses wasn’t enough to tell me that but you just don’t seem to realize the impact of all of those job losses until they start talking about all of the foreclosures and now the use of food stamps.  The article I read said that the average amount of food stamps benefit was $112.82 per person in January.  That’s monthly not weekly either.  That’s barely enough to feed a person for a month.  I sure hope things turn around soon for all of those people and am so thankful I still have my job for now anyway.

I am so tired of hearing about Nadia

Octomom is getting on my nerves.  You can’t go anywhere without seeing or hearing something new about her.  She is constantly on TV, on the computer, on just about everything here and there.  I’m sorry but I don’t feel the least bit sorry for this ‘unusual’ woman.  Why in the world would the mother of 6 children want 6 more implanted and then end up giving birth to a litter of eight babies instead of donating the embryos to other couples that can’t have children?  That would have been the sensible thing to do.

While we’re on that subject (sensible that is), it seems that she has now fired all of the nannies that are supposed to help her with her babies.  Good move!!!  Let’s see her take care of the 10 she has at home now.  The department of Social Services will definitely be investigating now because no one can take care of the 4 of the octuplets that she has home now and the other 6 at one time.  She fired them because she said they were spying on her.  There’s something wrong with this picture!!!

I need help!

There is nothing worse than having a totally unorganized house.  I hate it.  My house has gotten so disorganized that I can’t hardly find anything when I need it.  My closets, well they are all disaster areas.  I can’t find my clothes that I know are supposed to be in there but are hidden in the clutter.  I need help!  Well I found exactly what I needed and it’s new york custom closets.  They custom build what ever it is that you need to totally organize your closet and it’s built the way you want it.  Not a kit like you can get most anywhere that doesn’t even fit and takes a scientist to be able to put the darn thing together.

They not only specialize in custom closets but they are professional organizers too.  They will even custom build kitchen cabinets that are designed to be organized so everything has a place and you can actually find what is in your cabinets almost at a glance.  I love that.  They will design custom storage for your garage to your specifications and just about any other space you need to be organized.  My pantry is now even organized instead of just having everything shoved in it.  The prices are surprisingly affordable too.

I hear the birds singing

The birds are everywhere again and singing their wonderful springtime songs.  I love sitting at my window watching all of the different types of birds eating out of my bird feeders.  It’s amazing just how many different types of birds come to share a meal.  You have to watch the darn squirrels too or they will figure out a way to climb up my pole and shake all of the food out for themselves.  I have a squirrel feeder on a tree.  It has a screw on it that you take a corn cob and screw down on it for them to eat but they want the bird food too.  Oh well, such is life and do love to see all of the springtime critters out my window.

What a phenomenal woman

In April, Maya Angelou was interviewed by Oprah on her 70+ birthday…Oprah asked her what she thought of growing older. And, there on television, she said it was ‘exciting.’

Regarding body changes, she said there were many, occurring every day…like her breasts. They seem to be in a race to see which will reach her waist first. The audience laughed so hard, they cried. She is such a simple and honest woman, with so much wisdom in her words!
