Everyone keeps asking what is your favorite Christmas movie? I really don’t have one. I don’t like Christmas movies, but when i was really young I do remember watching a cute animated movie about Rudolf the Red nosed Reindeer. That was a sweet movie that taught a lesson about not being perfect but still being special. I liked that and the message.
Soothing Music
Sometimes I want to have some soothing music playing while I work on my computer. If I am cleaning house I like the more peppy music – it keeps me motivated. So I went online and searched for calming and peaceful music and found a lot of “New Age” music by artists that play all kinds of instruments. I especially like the catalogue of albums published by the label called Windham Hill. I sampled several of their tunes and really like them.
Leave it on?
There must be a lot of people who fall asleep each night with the TV left on. I think that is so wasteful of electricity and the noise must be disturbing to a good night’s sleep. I know that I want to have peace and quiet when I am ready for bed. I don’t want the distraction of all that noise in the background, plus that awful blue-ish light from the TV fills the room and spills out of the windows.
My girlfriend, Katelyn, was just talking about that same thing a couple of days ago. Ever since she mentioned it, I have noticed how many of my neighbors have that blue light shining from at least one room in their house as late as midnight. I know they cannot all be still up and awake at midnight. They must be falling asleep with the TV left one.
Exotic Rides
Have you ever ridden on an exotic animal? There are pictures of me as a little girl riding horses, and then one day there was a circus and my parents paid for me to ride on an elephant. I barely remember that, but they took a couple of pictures, so I know it is true. If I can find those old photos I will scan them and put one up here so you can see I’m not lying. lol
Four Play
Four Play is a jazz group that I like. Once in a while I like to listen to a jazz station and have some soothing background music playing while I sort through paperwork or other tasks. There are no jazz stations on the radio here, so I rely on the internet to stream music from a station on the west coast. Thee are two excellent jazz stations in California – one is in San Francisco and the other is in San Diego. Sometimes I think moving to California would be worth it just for the cultural experiences out there.
Street Concerts
I miss the days when people would just block off a city street and have a party. We used to blockade the street by the community center and have a street dance on Friday nights. A local band would play for free or sometimes we had a DJ. It as a family event – all ages would show up and dance in the street. It was a great way to spend time with our neighbors and the parents did not have to worry about getting a babysitter to have fun.
Movie Prices are Outrageous
Its been ages since I went to the movies in a real theater. But I really wanted to do something fun and different, and there are bunches of new movies coming out that look really promising. I know that all of them will be out on DVD just in time for Christmas, but I don’t want to wait that long for all of them.
I went with my Study Buddy from school as a treat to say thank you for all her help and moral support during these classes. This past month has been the hardest – its like they are rushing us to get through it all and I’m starting to panic about not only learning the new material but remembering everything else they taught me over the past 2 years.
So we went to the new theaters out in Providence Shopping Center and each ticket was 16. Sixteen Bucks! This is too much! I can buy the DVD for $16 bucks and watch it over and over again as much as I want. The movie theaters have go to charge less money for a ticket if they want me to come back again.

Shine On
Going through the airport in St. Louis to head home. I passed a shoe shine stand and usually don’t even give it a glance. But today the the shoe shine guy is barking out, “Shine em up! You can’t be happy when your shoes look crappy!” LOL
