funny photo of jack-o-lantern with piglets

Isn’t this photo of these piglets adorable? I carved out three pumpkins this year to put on my porch and it never occurred to me that I could put anything inside of them to take a picture! Of course, I don’t exactly have any piglets at the house. But I could have borrow a couple of kittens from my neighbor – that would have been a great photo, too!

Getting My Halloween Costume Together

Halloween’s always been a big tradition with my friends. Every year, we have a potluck party and a contest on who will come to the party in the most outrageous and creative costume.

Last year, our male friend who dressed up as a pregnant nun won the contest. This year, I’m gonna try to win the contest by dressing against my personality. My friends know me as being very conservative and so this year, I’m gonna surprise them by getting a zombie costume. I’ve been looking online and there are some great makeup tricks to use to look like a zombie.

All the stores have Halloween costumes, makeup and props in their seasonal sections. I am going to shop around this weekend and see if I can put my zombie costume together so I’ll be ready in plenty of time for the party.

Fell in Love with the Avett Brothers

Riding home with a friend, you end up hearing new songs on the radio if they happen to like a different radio station than what you listen to in your own car. This friend had Sirius Radio and a station I’ve never heard before, that played in the background while we rode together.

The song that caught my ear was called, “Winter in My Heart” by a group called the Avett Brothers. It’s a simple little song, not complicated musically, but it was very touching. I think that is the hallmark of a great song – bringing forth an emotion with lyrics that touch your soul.

My Dog Loves Bacon!

There’s a long running commercial about a dog that loves bacon. He runs into the kitchen yelling, “Bacon! Bacon! Bacon!” but he gets fooled with a fake bacon dog treat that is supposed to be so good that dogs think it is bacon. My dog is too smart to fall for that. In fact, my dog loves bacon but hates those particular dog treats. When I opened the bag and gave the contents of the fake treats a big sniff, I expected to smell bacon but I sure didn’t. It smelled AWFUL and NOTHING like bacon.

Mandatory Reading for Farmville Players

bookcover of farmville for dummies

Why do so many people spend hours and hours on Facebook every day playing this Farmville stupid game? Its not like you are getting paid for farming their stuff. What do you get out of it? Nothing! Its just a huge time suck. Get over it!

Big and Rich Surprised Me

Not a big fan of country music lately. So much of it sound exactly the same and it is boring. How many times can you sing about beer and pickup trucks?

The group, Big and Rich is probably more accurately described as a duo but I don’t know and don’t care enough to look it up. But they do have a couple of good songs. I was surprised when I heard the song called “Faster Than Angels Fly” to find out that it was a Big and Rich song. So they got a little more respect from me tonight because I do like that song and its not the same typical bland country song.

Fool Me Once

Happy April Fool’s Day. I wonder who is going to be brave enough to try to pull a prank on me? I do not really like jokes like that, but it seems there is always someone who wants to be a wise guy and try to pull a trick on April Fools Day.

Last year someone played a trick on me at work. They put a cardboard box on my desk like I had received a package in the mail. They had cut a hole in the bottom of the box and filled it up with styrofoam peanuts. So when I picked up the box to see who it was from and what it might be, the bottom dropped out and all the peanuts went flying all over my desk and my cubicle. What a mess!

It was funny – but it was not fun picking up all those awful peanuts. If I never see another styrofoam peanut again in my life it will be too soon!

Old CDs

For years I have been buying music CDs for my “collection” and I just now realized that I have over 400 CDs and I never listen to any of them anymore. I honestly cannot remember the last time I took a CD out of its case and played it on a CD player. I know it has not been in my car for a very long time – I only lisen to the radio in my car.

It has probably been several yearssince I played CD but I have bought new ones as recently as Christmas. I have several CDs on the shelf that I bought and never even opened yet.

This is crazy! I’ll not be buying any more CDs. In fact, I should get rid of all of these that are taking up so much space in my living room.

What to do in Vegas?

Just found out that I have a trip to Vegas coming up in September for a big business conference. I’m so excited! I have never been to Las Vegas and have always wanted to go. Now I am going and the company is paying for the whole trip!

So what do people do in Vegas besides gamble? What are the best shows to see while I’m there? I want to have a chance to do it all!

Red is a Good Movie

The movie, “Red,” was on the cable channel Showtime tonight. I have not watched it in ages, but it stars Bruce Willis, who I adore! So I watched it again and was surprised to notice a lot of low level humor and lines that I had missed the first time I watched it. The story line was very good, a thriller with a lot of twists. If you are a thriller fan you can probably figure out a lot of the twists. But the average viewer will probably be surprised at a lot of it. I liked this movie a lot – this was the perfect way to end my lazy weekend.
