I bet you didn’t know this

I bet you had no idea that I happen to be a redhead.  Well I guess now that my secret is out I should let you in on something else too.  There is this web site now for redheads and people who love redheads.  Why?  Well I think it’s because redheads are quite different than blonds or brunettes.  See, redheads have the reputation of being rather hot headed.  I must admit I can be hot headed but who can’t given the right circumstances?  Not all redheads have freckles and green eyes either.  Each redhead is a unique individual and that’s part of what bonds us together.

I know that everyone is a unique individual but redheads are different.  I know this personally being one.  In fact, I have a couple of cousins that are also redheads and they are the ones that I’m the closest to.  Perhaps it’s because we sort of understand each other where others don’t.  I’m not sure but when I meet other redheads, they have a lot of the same feelings about things I do.  That’s what makes this web site such a wonderful thing for redheads.  Most of us have gone through our lives feeling different but on there, we’re all very much alike.  Pretty cool!!!!

Homecoming ‘Queen’ at George Mason U

I absolutely love this article.  In fact, I just had to share it with you because I think it’s a wonderful article.

FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason University students have elected a drag queen as homecoming queen. Student Ryan Allen beat out two women for the title at the 30,000-student school in suburban Washington, D.C., famous for its run to the Final Four a few years back. Allen competed under his drag queen persona of Reann Ballslee.

Allen, who is gay and performs in drag at nightclubs, said he entered as a joke. But he considers the victory one of his happiest moments and proof the school celebrates its diverse student body.

The senior from Virginia’s Goochland County won the pageant about a week ago at a sold-out homecoming basketball game against Northeastern. George Mason’s basketball team pulled off a string of upsets to advance to the Final Four in 2006.

Isn’t that wonderful!!  Well I think so anyway!

Leroy – Another funny for you!

A woman walks into the downtown welfare office, trailed by 15 kids. ‘WOW!’ the social worker exclaims. ‘Are they all yours?” ‘Yep, they are all mine,’ the flustered momma sighs, having heard that question a thousand times before. She says, ‘Sit down Leroy.’ All the children rush to find seats.

‘Well,’ says the social worker, ‘then you must be here to sign up. I’ll need all your childrens names.’

‘Well, to keep it simple, the boys are all named ‘Leroy’ and the girls are all named ‘Leighroy’.’

In disbelief, the case worker asked, “Are you serious? They’re ALL named Leroy?”

Their momma replied, “Well, yes — it makes it easier. When it’s time to get them out of bed and ready for school, I yell, Leroy!’ And when it’s time for dinner, I just yell ‘Leroy!’ an’ they all comes a runnin’. An’ if I need to stop the kid who’s running into the street, I just yell Leroy’ and all of them stop. It’s the smartest idea I ever had, namin’ them all Leroy.”

The social worker thinks this over for a bit, then wrinkles her forehead and says tentatively, “But what if you just want ONE kid to come, and not the whole bunch?”

“Then I call them by their last names..”

Time for a cute joke

Only a person in Texas could think of this. It says it’s a true story but I don’t know. I just thought it was too cute not to share.

DWI – TEXAS STYLE!

From the county where drunk driving is considered a sport, comes this true story. Recently a routine police patrol parked outside a bar in Austin , Texas . After last call, the officer noticed a man leaving the bar so apparently intoxicated that he could barely walk.

The man stumbled around the parking lot for a few minutes, with the officer quietly observing. After what seemed an eternity in which he tried his keys on five different vehicles, the man managed to find his car and fall into it. He sat there for a few minutes as a number of other patrons left the bar and drove off.

Finally he started the car, switched the wipers on and off–it was a fine, dry summer night–, flicked the blinkers on and off a couple of times, honked the horn and t hen switched on the lights. He moved the vehicle forward a few inches, reversed a little and then remained still for a few more minutes as some more of the other patrons’ vehicles left.

At last, when his was the only car left in the parking lot, he pulled out and drove slowly down the road. The police officer, having waited patiently all this time, now started up his patrol car, put on the flashing lights, promptly pulled the man over and administered a breathalyzer test.

To his amazement, the breathalyzer indicated no evidence that the man had consumed any alcohol at all! Dumbfounded, the officer said, `I’ll have to ask you to accompany me to the police station. This breathalyzer equipment must be broken.’
‘I doubt it,’ said the truly proud Redneck. ‘Tonight I’m the designated decoy.’

Need some color?

I love white walls believe it or not.  But I don’t love bare walls.  There are lots of ways to bring color into your rooms.  One is with the furnishings you have in the room.  Another is with accessories you put in your room too.  Brightly colored on a neutral colored couch can really brighten a room.  Not only that but brightly colored lamps or flowers can too.  There’s a lot of different ways to accomplish the look you want even with white walls.

Here’s one that I love.  It’s with canvas art and you know how much art can add color to a room. Not only color but also a richness you can’t quite match with just smearing paint on your walls.  Don’t get me wrong, walls painted and accented the correct way can really make a room special but I prefer my wall art do that for me instead of the color of the walls.

You can set the mood of a room with art work depending on what you choose.  Landscapes bring the outside in and flower art work does too.  I love artwork of scenery.  I can travel to a tropical island with a beautifully painted piece of art work.

I keep hearing this

My mother has tried to get me to write childrens books for years.  Then the other day, someone else told me that I should be a writer from a not that I had written.  Then in the same day, another friend told me that I could write a book.  I might be able to talk the ears off of a Mule but write a book?  ME?  I don’t know about all of that.

Maybe I’ll try writing a childrens book but once I do then comes the problem of what the heck do I do with it once it’s written?  I don’t have any idea.  I guess I need to do a little research and maybe a little writing too.  Why not?

Another beautiful day

I can’t believe how warm it is lately.  The wind is blowing like it does in March and I’m getting spring fever something awful.  I just hate cold weather and what it does to everything.  Everyone gets sick, your skin dries out and you just feel like going to bed, pulling the covers over your head and hibernating till spring.

Well hopefully spring will come early like it seems to be doing.  I sure hope so.  I’m ready to see the leaves on the trees and flowers blooming in the yards.  I’m tired of all the dreary days.  I want to get out and go fishing, go on a picnic or something besides sitting in the house shivering.

Are your bulbs coming up?

I just noticed this morning as I was leaving for work that my crocus are up and blooming.  My daffodils are up about 4 inches too.  I thought that stupid groundhog said we were going to have 6 more weeks of winter.  I think he doesn’t know what he’s talking about.  Maybe they will have 6 more weeks of winter in Pennsylvania but it sure doesn’t feel or look like it here.  I hope we have seen the last of the really cold weather personally.

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss?

That is about the most unlikely pairing I have heard of yet when it comes to music.  Everyone knows Robert Plant from Led Zepplin and Allison Krauss started off as a Bluegrass singer.  Talk about opposites when it came to music but somehow they clicked together and won a total of 5 Grammy’s.  Go figure.

The 51st annual Grammys was an all-ages affair ultimately dominated by a rock legend who took up with a younger bluegrass singer on a whim.  The unlikely pairing of Robert Plant and Alison Krauss that produced the hit album “Raising Sand” won five Grammys on Sunday including album of the year. The former Led Zeppelin front man, previously best known for his high-decibel shrieking and rock star theatrics, found more docile Nashville melodies with Krauss.

While accepting the Grammy for album of the year, the 37-year-old Krauss – perhaps wanting to remind the audience that Plant’s rock star hadn’t entirely matured – said there’s “never a dull moment” with the 60-year-old singer.

I love to have dinner parties

The last dinner party I had was for New Years.  It was great because we had the southern traditional dinner of blackeyed peas (they’re supposed to represent pennies), ham (which is supposed to be for health) and greens (which are supposed to represent money).  Not many people knew about those traditions so it was a lot of fun in that I got to share a bit of southern tradition with them.

The next dinner party I have I’m going to use some of the great dinner party ideas I found online.  They give you menu suggestions and also decoration suggestions too.  There are some great ideas on there.
